Curious to hear the Pool's thoughts on Favre? Everyone was ready to slap the toe-tag on him after Week 1, now--posting back-to-back stellar weeks--he is surely a Top 5 QB in almost all formats.

Now I know the consenus seems to be Favre will rack up points vs. bad teams but get killed by good ones. Here is remaining sked:

- Remaining Schedule -

@ Eagles

Rams

@ Dolphins

Cardinals

@ Bills

@ Vikings

Patriots

@ Seahawks

Jets

@ 49ers

Lions

Vikings

@ Bears

Really, not too many D's that are going to scare you outside of that. What I like best about this, is toughest game @Bears is Week 17.

Ultimately, having watched Favre the last few weeks, I think he still has the skills. And with Jenning emerging as a legit threat, and Green proving himself healthy, I think Favre will produce better than decent fantasy stats from here on out. Heck, I could see him in the top 5 when all is said and done.

Thoughts?

The Eagles on the road  That stretch of Rams, Dolphins, Cardinals - okay.On the road for Bills, Vikings, Seahawks (with the Patriots thrown in) He could be okay during FF playoff time (49ers, Lions & Vikings)...if they haven't started Rodgers taking snaps. I barely see him squeeking in the top 12 - if that. Other than that 3 game stretch, I see some teams that will get after him and grind out the clock. Sorry, I went mirage.

As a Pats homer, I'm not too worried about that game, their strength is run D.

Game @ Minny is a sit. @ Buffalo & @Hawks are bubble games IMO.

I'm not saying he's a week-in week-out guy, but he's a whole lot more than bye week filler which is what he was being drafted as.

well they're gonna have to throw, that defense is absolute ####

also with koren working his way into the mix, and jennings playing beyond his years, he has three pretty talented WR at his disposal...add any gradual improvement involved with adapting to a new offensive system, and i think he could be ok. he's still gonna have some games where he throws 3 picks but if you can stomach those, he should be a pretty solid start against non-dominating defenses.

Favres totals, and week by week fantasy production last year in our league, and why I have given up on him. The economic principle of diminishing return was in play. The returns were so promising. Notice the dismal week 1? The strong bounce back, and solid early season? Decent in the middle, and then into the tank. Our scoring is quite standare 1 pt for 25 yards passing, 6 pt TD's, 1 pt/ 10 yds rushing and -2 for fum/ints, Yes, it was somewhat unique in that he lost Walker, whom he doesn't have to lose this year, and he lost Green. But, I just haven't seen his heart in playing consistently well for a coule of years. He has good weeks, and horrible weeks, and usually it's on Brett Favre and horrible decision making. Could it continue? Absolutely. I'm just saying one has to weigh the past when considering.

I wouldn't chase him, and if I had him, I'd be thinking sell high.

I haven't gotten to watch any Packer games yet... but reading/hearing some of Favre's comments in the media, he seems to be more mature to me... in that he's facing the reality that he's not "3 time MVP" Brett Favre anymore... he's "on the brink of retirement" Favre... and he can't make the passes into tripple coverage that he used to. So it SOUNDS like he's going to be more conservative and he might not throw more INTs than scores this year (the record being on the line is another factor that increases Favre's chance of production IMO)

can any GB homers that get to see the games confirm or deny my assumptions?

I agree, but mabey it's because I have Favre in all my leagues. Looking at his schedule and new weapons, it wouldn't shock me if he ends up top 5. Barring injury top 10 is already locked in my mind.

Favre is still better than 20+ QB's playing the game right now. That's being conservative. Once again he is in the top 5 at the FFL QB position. There are flukes...then there is FAVRE. Year after year. He's money. Go ahead and pick your Vick's, your Brady's, your Delhomme's. Favre finishes consistently in the top 10 year after year. Usually in the top 5.

Favre threw a measly 20 TD's in 2000. Bounced back to throw 33 the following year. Last year he had 20 because that POS Ferguson was in the lineup. Now it's Jennings with the speedy Robinson as the #3 and fergy on the pine. He's on pace for 32. You see you forgot to factor in Fergy in your analysis above. He's being eliminated.

You can see the Favre is making a conscience effort to be more careful. He is taking a few more sacks adn has thrown more balls out of bounds instead of forcing a pass.

He has looked good so far this year and if anyone knows anything about football they would realize that he still has a lot of skills left. He is far from done and some of you haters love to bash me for supporting him. Deal with it because he is proving a lot of the doubters wrong. He is making good passes and still has a great arm. Considering the quality of staring QBs in the NFL, many teams would love to have Favre.

At this point, Favre is in the top 5 for fantasy scoring for QBs which is much higher than many people thought he'd be at.

Ah, just like last year, when he finished 13th, right?Or 2002, when he finished 11th?Or the fact that he has finished in the top 5 ZERO times in the last five years?

I agree.I think he's turning the corner in that regard--realizing that his age is catching up to him, and adjusting. It's a very good sign.

3rd in 2003 and 4th in 2001 & 2004. Eat it. You didn't even read the explaination of why he was bad last year. Exactly what kind of whacked out scoring are you looking at? Probably the one that gives vick points for running around like an idiot and getting points for it instead of playing QB.

That's fine, and probably different scoring that Data Dominator uses.Consistently in the top 10 is wrong, though...and so was the "fact" that he was *usually* in the top 5, even if I grant you your stats.
