Brees looks unstoppable, Shockey looks ready to play, Colston and Henderson are healthy, Bush is still on the team too....but we'll wait and see if his knee will hold up....and N.O. looks like they are playin in midseason forum!

The RB's will be servicable as the throw way more then run!

Now, before the "its only preseason" jeers come in....

They were clicking like this at the end of last season when Colston was Healthy, as they racked up just shy of 200 points in there last 6 games!

Plus they will have a great start as they play the Lie-downs week 1....

Any thoughts?

The defense is the thing to talk about in New Orleans although I do believe the Saints have improved on offense over last years unit. The defense is a completely different beast (And I dont use that term lightly) under Greg Williams. Normally you would see high scoring Saints games where the opponent has also scored at will. This will not be the case this season and that provides even more opportunity for the offense. So with that said yes i think it is possible.

They won't be, because they lack one thing NE had: Randy Moss.

They really do have just about everything else NE had. While Colston is a good NFL WR, he's not the gamebreaking deep threat that Moss was. Getting Moss was the key that took the NE offense from being good to great.

NO's offense will be very good, don't get me wrong... just not on the level of the 2007 Pats.

While I agree they do not have a WR with the combination of speed, height and power as a Randy Moss, neither did that NE team have the Bush factor and the number of very good targets that Brees has. Colston, Shockey, Moore, Henderson, Meachem. Anyway I dont care if they are as good as the Pats 2007 team because they will not be playing the Pats 2007 team in the Superbowl this year.

COLSON STATS2006 70 1038 8

2007 98 1202 11

2008 (Last 3 games when healthy and in full swing 22 306 4 --- Fullseason 47 760 5)

Looks like a start to a great career!

I've said it once and I'll say it again, Brees loves this guy, and thats matters a lot to a wr's production!

The Saints offense may be better than NE 2007. Not for fantasy purposes. The Saint are much more ballanced than the Pats were. The Saints have two RBs better than anyone the Pats h. The Saints have better options at #3WR, #4WR, and TE than the Pats did. NE was a three man wrecking crew.

I remember last year when Denver stomped Oakland, one of the guys inmy league had them in the superbowl.

I think the Saints offense will be very good, but let's wait and see on the 600 points.

Even if a team has the ability to do it, you'd normally need a few other things to fall in line.

They play the Leos Week 1, can we give them half of that now?

That "three man wrecking crew" scored and NFL-record 589 points, breaking the old record by 33. So basically you're predicting the Saints to have the best offense of all time?(and no, I'm not a Pats homer)

The Pats had a couple things going in their favor as far as total season points that the Saints might lack, and that's a lot of RB injuries coupled with an entirely new corps of receivers.

A good chunk of the year they didn't really have the backs to grind the clock down late in games, whereas the Saints, barring injury, have a pretty decent complement, and when you start the year turning over your top 3 receivers you need every snap you can get throughout the season to practice for the playoffs.

On top of all that, they probably had an eye on the undefeated season, the records, etc, etc, so all this tended to be fuel for an already talented offense, and I'm not sure you'll see similar circumstance with new orleans, even if they have the ability.

But we'll see ---- personally, I don't pay much attention to records.

they'll need to score as many pts as the 2007 Pats, their defense is still dreadful.

they just gave up 27 pts to a rookie QB on an 0-17 team :P

splitting hairs a bit, but they actually gave up 20 points... 2 TDs and 2 FGs. the other TD was on a fumble recovery.not that that's a bad thing tho... this will force the offense to score more points. i doubt they are a superbowl team, but they could be as good an offense as the 2008 Saints and the 2007 Patriots (with the exception of the Moss TD record).

It will get tougher, but I think Brees still throws the 44-48 TD's this year. Should be a great year for him.
