So, you're in a redraft league where your draft went terribly and the season is getting worse by the week. What do you do to try and make something of your season? Do you trade the only stud you have? Do you set your lineups on autopilot and take up knitting? What to do? What to do? As I am typing this GNR's Patience is on the iPod (seriously) so, yes, I understand we're only in week 4. I realize this is a broad topic with quite a lot of options and not a ton of details, but I would like to know what others have done in the past with a rough year ahead.

I feel your pain. In one of my leagues WITH NO ROSTER MOVES ALLOWED I ended up with 6 guys that were released or put on IR and 3 others that lost their starting jobs. The leftovers included guys that have done absolutely nothing.

That's why I play in more than one league . . .

Depends on if the season is horrible due to injuries or underperforming. If your team is underperforming, then stick with it, stay active, and hang in there in hopes they pick back up. If injuries (i.e. brady owners), that's a pretty huge blow. But there are QBs that could have been picked up that could have filled Brady's spot - Warner, Griese etc.

Don't give up yet. in fantasy, I've seen 1-4 teams and even 0-6 teams turn it around and get hot and make the playoffs and do some damage.

I am a new commish of one high stakes league. The draft was Wednesday night, right before the start of the season. Needless to say, I drafted very poorly. And combine that with an injured Tom Brady (I have Randy) ... Ouch. Although looking back, I am not surprised I drafted so poorly. We had an owner pass away a week before. I was on a week long vacation and had to figure out a way to handle everything (the death of an owner + finding new owners). And at the draft, I was supposed to be drafting for another owner and myself. Add that to the complaining of the rules at the draft ... well, it was bad. But, like a trooper, I am not giving up. I am 1 - 2 and will try every trade I can to shake up my team. Plus, waivers is always a good way to rebuild.

Could be worse - as commish, you could have a constantly complaining owner in your ... ahh.. never mind, better not start that.

My Post-Draft "Projected" Starting Lineup:

QB-Ben Roethlisberger-PIT (3 TDs; 32 in 2007)

RB-Adrian Peterson-MIN (1 TD, 13 in 2007)

WR-Andre Johnson-HOU (0 TD, 8 in 9 games in 2007)

TE-Dallas Clark-IND (0 TD, 11 in 2007)

FLEX-Jamal Lewis-CLE (0 TD, 11 in 2007)

FLEX-Larry Johnson-KC (1 TD, 4 in 8 games in 2007)

FLEX-Greg Jennings-GB (0 TD, 12 in 2007)

PK-Ryan Longwell-MIN

DF-Jaguars-JAX

If each of these "studs" played a full 16 game season in 2007, they would combine for around 105 TDs.

In 2008, these "studs" are on pace for 26.

Obviously, some of them will turn things around, but I mean c'mon, talk about the wheels falling off the cart.

Hopefully the floodgates open up this week as I am playing my biggest rival.

If they don't then I'm in for a long year.

Had Brady and Colston in one league, and didn't 'hit' on the Michael Turners, Cutlers, etc. Am now 1-2 and rebuilding. There's always a chance.

Trim the fat, keep only one K, DEF.

Play matchups as best you can.

Grab some high upside players off the wire. Speculate on these high return players, esp RBs (Torain, but also Chris Henry, D. Branch).

Don't give up on players like BEdwards, AJohnson, etc. Look for other teams to drop guys with rough early schedules.

Trade your name value guys after a big game, esp if they have an injury history (Boldin?).

Trade for guys that haven't hit yet: BEdwards, RGrant, etc.

 Love the waiver wire. Shmooze it, send it flowers, take it out to dinner. Show it you care. I started 1-3 last year, and it was a fair 1-3. Kurt Warner, Ryan Grant, and a bottle of Jim Beam later, 10-5 and a championship. In a way, sitting low on the totem pole this early does give you some advantages, because you can scoop up the waiver gems.

How much do I love the waiver wire? This is Steve Smith (NYG)'s 3rd trip to my roster from prior drops.Greg Lewis has come and gone, Devery Henderson has come and gone, Gus Frerotte has come and gone, Michael Bush has come and gone, it never stops. On average, I'm making 5 trade offers a week.Gotta keep fighting; it's too early to give up yet!!!

I stumbled out of the gates the first two weeks. Normally I'm a patient owner but this year I've decided to dump the underachievers at the back end of my roster quickly and work the WW hard. Since Week 1, I've made the following moves:

Dropped Mo Morris for Pierre Thomas

Dropped Garrard for O'Sullivan

Dropped Galloway for Bruce

Dropped Zach Miller for Carlson

Dropped Nugent for Robbie Gould (our league carries two kickers)

I'm trying like hell to trade Torry Holt but nobody in my league wants him. If you're in a league where trades are few and far between, my advice would be to do everything you can to bolster the production at the backend of your roster. Don't panic and dump guys like Braylon Edwards or Joseph Addai if they struggle early but do what you can to compensate for their struggles with as much production as you can with the players lower on your roster.

Basically I'm reserving my patience for my top players. The rest are expendable and I won't hesitate to drop one if I see a better option available on the WW.
