The Terrance West Hype MUST stop (1 Viewer)

Seriously, why do reporters (and fantasy players) fall trap to hype of mediocre players all the time? What makes anyone think that West is better than Ben Tate. Shoot, what makes anyone thing that West is better than Crowell? Personally, I think the camp battle to watch is West vs. Crowell. I see this situation much like Lynch, Turbin and Michael from last year, Tate being Lynch, West being Turbin and Crowell being Michael. I think West moves to the back of the pack next season with all the talk being about Crowell from 2015 and beyond, but no one is talking about Crowell, who had the largest amount of talent in the draft. Someone explain it to me.

Well, Crowell had so much baggage that people aren't ready to assume he can stay out of trouble.

Add to that Tate has been a guy a lot of people have been interested in early in his career but then had the injuries. So the most recent reaction to him is he is "injury prone".

Add to that, you have a RB rookie. We'll call it the Monte Ball rule. By default, you have to cast the incumbent out and anoint the new kid.

FWIW, I'm on your side of this. I think it is overblown and Tate, IF HEALTHY, will just be the guy all year for the lionshare. But people need juice to cook a stew and this is it this year.

There's no question in my mind that Ben Tate is the best RB on the team, if healthy. Unfortunately, he is injured a lot and there's a good chance someone else gets a chance this year. Between West and Crowell, give me West since Crowell has a long way to go before he's trusted by the team. I do like both West and Crowell as long-term flyers in dynasty leagues.

I agree on all fronts but with an additional caveat to the "IF HEALTHY" exception. Kyle Shanahan has shown that he is more than open to starting a rookie RB so I think that it is possible that later in the season, if the Browns are hopelessly out of contention (maybe 4-9 or 4-10) they might (MIGHT) significantly increase the workload of one of the rookie RBs to play out the string regardless of Tate's health.

I don't think that would sit well with Tate so I consider it an unlikely scenario but it is a possibility.

For the sake of Tate owners, hopefully Petine/Shanahan remember that the team's owner isn't a patient sort and fired the last coaching staff after one season.

Maybe, just maybe it has something to do with the mediocre players like Zac Stacy and Alfred Morris that pop up and become valuable fantasy running backs every year.

Yeah, it's almost like there isn't already a 6 page thread of people talking about Crowell and the exact battle that you're referencing. Except there is.

Sometimes I wonder if people live in their own little world. You're literally saying that nobody is talking about something that tons of people are talking about. There is an entire thread dedicated to it with people making a lot of good points back and forth.

And I would challenge your assertion that Crowell is the most talented back in the draft, but you can already find that information in the other threads involving this that you seem to think don't exist. I would suggest looking there.

Hold up, hold up, I'm gonna stop you for a second. We all know that Tate had the best training video this year.

I like grabbing the cheap part of a potentially productive spot with a murky starter, a la Moreno last year...get comparable upside for cheaper. I don't expect them to be world beaters but I think lil' Shanny is a good OC that should have the Browns in the top half of the league on offense. Add in Tate's injury history and that makes West even more appealing. I'd contemplate Crowell if I was in a super deep league as well.
