The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 40: Veep (260 Viewers)

it has Dark and Letterkenny swapped.
A lot of people make this mistake. They're very similar shows.
I feel I need subtitles for both shows.
Make this make sense. I tend to stay away from shows in different languages that need subtitles yet always have the subtitles on for shows in English. Smh
It was just a joke about me not understanding all the Canadian lingo on Letterkenny.

The honorable mentions list makes me want to put out a good call for 3-4 seasons of Person of Interest. Great show, cool premise, love the main guy and the main nerd guy actors. Love the girl ex CIA person who joins the team.

It takes a hard drop off when it gets too scifi future AI computer war singularity blah blah but until then it's great fun.
This should have been on my list. It was the best of the post-Lost Sci Fi shows the broadcast networks were pushing at the time. My wife and I watched it regularly through its entire run.
:coffee: This was my highest ranked non-300 ranking at #21. I watched it in its entirty and then started again but only lasted the first few seasons.

Sarah Shahi and Amy Acker are on my short list.

Sarah Shahi is the CIA girl I am referencing. Yeah she's got that it factor for sure.

I actually watched "Who Is Erin Carter?" because I thought she was the lead. I think it's actually just someone who looks pretty similar but that was a great little miniseries I'd recommend anyway.

"Not on streaming" is not the same thing as "Not available on a subscription streaming service". There was a time, not so long ago, that we all paid a rental fee to watch our programming.

Almost everything is still rentable/purchasable in digital form. Here's Mr Robot for $25. There are 45 episodes so that works out to $.56/episode. Shoot the locks off your wallets.

And physical media is still available. And also has the advantage of being something you can sell once you're done with it. Here's Mr Robot for $45.

End

I have 9 pickles left. (Am I doing that right?) Fawlty Towers is by far the least chalky of my top 10, but there's one other I wouldn't be surprised to see before #50.

I might be leader in the clubhouse.
Ive already had 5 pickles (The Young Ones, Big Train, Flowery Twats, The Inbetweeners and Police Squad)

One of my pickles might not make the list as I thought we would have seen it by now.
Two of my pickles are certain top 10 ranked shows
The other two we should see on the higher to middle end.

Sorry, I am trying save money and decrease my subscriptions as well. I am not cold purchasing shows I've never seen for $25-45. Yes, I get that I can buy and rent most things on Amazon or buy the discs. I can also wait in line at the library for the 1 copy of the show my library service has.

Most of my post was playful poking, but certainly you can understand the frustration of having multiple streaming services and STILL having to rent/buy or get from the library a surprisingly big portion of stuff people want to watch. It's a pretty known show, so I was mildly surprised one of them doesn't own it and have it on their service. Shows like Faulty Towers I expect to have more issues finding.

I have a few pickles left. They’re chalky but I’ll probably be the top ranker on one of them, which I didn’t actually think was very chalky when I made the list. I think it’ll be my next pickle, though.

I'm kinda teasing too, but also a bit serious.

Paying for a monthly streaming service is just another way of renting. Sure it's an "all I can watch" version of it, but you still don't own anything once your month is done. The advantage is that you can watch an episode or two of a show and bail if you don't like it. But it's still sunk cost and you paid something for it in both dollars and time. Things still break down to a "cost per watch" amount.

I would advocate checking out the show from the library (if only libraries had more Blu-Rays! :sadbanana: ) if only just to check something out. Unfortunately libraries will eventually/soon run into a lot of their movies falling victim to disc rot.

To your point, is it surprising that Mr. Robot isn't available to stream anywhere? Yes it is. It was at one time, I know, because I watched it on Hulu. The licensing for all this stuff must be a weird thing. But not every buffet is going to have every menu item available at all times, I guess.

TLDR - Mr. Robot is worth watching no matter how you need to get to it.

It's the principle of the thing. Paying for multiple services (that are now injecting more and more commercials) and then needing to pay an additional fee on top of that ever increasing subscription is a hard pill to swallow. It just seems wrong and I won't do it for most cases. There was to be an overwhelming reason to make me do it. I already spend way too much as it is.

I understand having a budget and I think that's wise. But not every service has to be subscribed to each and every month. When there's a show on Apple I want to watch, I'll pay $10 for the month and watch that show for that month. Same with Max/Paramount/Netflix/Etc.

Most cell phone carriers have deals with one or more services - Verizon, for example, has a Netflix/Max add-on for $10/month. Sure it's with ads, but it's not very obtrusive.

I understand your argument much more when you start talking about "subscriptions" like YouTube TV. But I think that's more of a "cable substitution" than a "streaming service". If we returned to the old Cable TV model, the programming would be WAY more restrictive and we'd be back to "when is that show that I want to see actually on?" and then have to set the DVR or make time to sit and watch it.

This is why any moral qualms I may have had using a service like Stremio went out the door a long time ago. Streaming services have become just as much of a racket as cable had become. I already pay enough for streaming to be able to see the shows I want to see IMO and I refuse to sign up for new services just for the one or two shows I want to see.

Never saw the Good Place.
Firefly is really good, but I'm surprised it's this high, tbf. I wouldn't have ranked it, but my wife would have had it top 10-15 or so. Nerds ;)

Never heard of it. Is it a show about dead people in heaven?

Does this get better after the end of season 1? We kind of lost interest a couple episodes in, as it gets a little tired, repetitive. How does it bounce back?

It’s pretty forking good.

Never saw the Good Place.
So you're the one.
:hot:

Run, don't walk, and immediately watch this show (I think it's still on Netflix)
DO NOT DO ANY READING ON IT PRIOR TO WATCHING IT!

You can thank me later.

I don't know that it could get any better, but it definitely keeps up. The first episode in season 2 might be the funniest of all.

Is The Good Place a comedy in the sense that Ted Lasso is a comedy? Or is it more of a sitcom? Is there a serialized story?

I’ll probably watch this a second time at one point. It’s likely I’d move it higher once I do.
