The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 41: The Bear (125 Viewers)

I had some considerations for sports-adjacent stuff and ended up being really strict with the rule and only including two documentary series. But like as a kid I used to DVR NFL Top 10s (this hour long show where'd they'd count down a top 10 of something like defensive lines or coaches or big play guys and stuff) for months of collecting them binge them in summer when school was out.

It felt too much like highlight packages and not enough space from being sports so didn't include it or some similar stuff.
@Scoresman is "Inside The NBA" eligible for this? It's not a sporting event, but it does follow/analyze sporting events. I know it's not everyone's favorite, but I've gotten a lot of entertainment from that show over a very long period of time now.
I’ve got a few of those types on my list.
I considered The Wide World Of Sports just for the opening. But that didn't seem like enough justification to make it through to the final list.
Same, although also almost made the cut based on the Washington Generals winning once there.

Yeah we've got a few sports "shows". Mostly talk shows. They are fine.

Tentative schedule.

Sunday Feb. 9: Lists due

Monday, Feb 10: I do final collation and tabulation. Honorable Mentions may or may not start.

Honorable Mentions will be posted in a few stages.
  1. Everyone's top show that did not make the top 200.
  2. Shows ranked 225-201, "First 25 out".
Tuesday, Feb 11: Honorable Mentions start or continue. We will get through these in 24 hours.

Wednesday, Feb 12: Countdown starts.

Countdown will go pretty fast to start, then will slow down around the top 50 or so.

This is all subject to change.

Is there a difference between these two? Looks to be the same.

The Great British Bake Off
The Great British Baking Show

For the love of god I hope this question is rhetorical

Not rhetorical. And not nearly the worst show I've seen on these lists. Not to be judgy or anything....
And I haven't even sent my list in yet. But I (mostly) refuse to be ashamed of including Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman. Judgy away.

Tentative schedule.

I should be embarrassed by how much I'm looking forward to this, but I'm not.

If you forgot Flight Of The Conchords, you must resubmit.

I'm talking to everyone present here.

It's the only contest/reality show I considered. It made my list. My wife and I can watch it together and enjoy it, make fun of some accents, laugh about how good they are at French and bad they are at Latin American, look up a few ingredient names we've never heard of, and generally enjoy the time together. I'd say it's the only show left that we watch together and interact with this way.

I'm about to submit my list.

I'd bet my #4 and #5 are either way higher or not even on most lists.

Some heavy hitters I haven't watched so didn't include:
- Game of Thrones
- The Wire
- The Sopranos
- Lost
- Mad Men

This was fun.
I only watched half of Lost (got too dumb for me) - but the rest of those you really should rectify. All 4 of the others are some of the best television ever produced.
Also - if you’ve not watched Rectify, you should rectify that.
I haven’t so I’ll try to.

I have a very different cooking competition show on my list but nevertheless at its heart it’s the same.

the cartoon version of that? I did think about it since I did enjoy it but nah

Are Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations and Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown considered separate shows?

I would say separate unless others strongly disagree.
Safe to assume a similar policy for Sneak Previews, At the Movies and Siskel & Ebert and the Movies?
This is another reason i stalled out. How specific would i have to get for ninja turtles, and double dare, and transformers, and scooby doo, and....

Not at all! You can resubmit anytime before the deadline.

how serious are people taking this?
Very

I believe 98% of the questions now are shtick to drive scoresman mad

If I’m being honest, I thought it would take more than 40 lists to get asked if a marble sporting event was eligible.

If anything’s driving me crazy it’s stuff I mentioned already like trying to remove duplicates like when half of you put Magnum PI and the other half Magnum, P.I.

Any chance you can go deeper on the honorable mentions?
Any reason you need to go quick at the beginning? You got a taxi waiting?
Its more interesting if people want to talk about the shows, especially for those who may not have seen them.

Sorry if mine screwed you up. I literally copy and pasted from IMDb and noticed the 2 different listings for the older show and newer show so treated them as different shows and selected accordingly.

You could do a find and replace to remove all of the periods and commas.

I don’t want to spoil too much of what didnt make the countdown. Everything will get revealed in time.

The cadence worked well for the horror countdown. I usually judge it by how fast the conversation dies out, then I post another batch.
