The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 51: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (263 Viewers)

Yeah I hope this thread doesn't become political but I'm đź’Ż positive that a show in my top 10 could spin discussion in that direction.
It won’t.

And I have several shows in my top 40 that can get political …..is what it is.

Art imitates life….and lots of shows are time capsules of where we were as a society at those times.

One thing I wish….is we could still make fun of each other without some getting all bent out of shape.

But again…..is what it is.

My apologies…..I had liver and onions for lunch.

Alright, I got inspired last night and ripped off a list - just submitted to scores. Need to put in the work to comment and post some fun previews of lists, right??

My 46-51:

Veronica Mars
After Life
Bates Motel
What's New, Scooby-Doo?
Hannibal
You Can't Do That on Television

Wondering about how your last one would hold up through 2025 eyes. I remember liking it but I haven't seen it in decades

It doesn't, IMO. That is one that I watched a few episodes of last weekend. I got to 50 for ones that I was more confident in recommending, then the last 20 had more that were just nostalgia or important at the time. I used to record that show on cassette tape and listen to in on car rides.

Now mine does because I just threw up in my mouth a little. ;)

Finally, someone with such terrible taste I have zero matches with their list. ;)
Yeah, I am not sure how much my list will have in common with the masses. I still highly recommend those 5, though.

Honestly never watched Veronica Mars and think I would enjoy it. I'm a big Kristen Bell fan from her work in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and a different show that I have at #12.

ETA: I get irrationally angry when I remember that she is married to that tool Dax Sheppard.

It's one that my wife and I randomly tried and really liked it. It's well written and it was one I recommended a bit at the various video stores.

My list is in. I have some big TV blindspots but had no problem coming up with a long list of 97. Cutting it down and ranking was more difficult.

Looking forward to the countdown to see what I've missed.

I ended up leaving out some really good sitcoms (well ...that I liked) to make sure I had a deeper mix of shows - hated to do it

Dammit, Eephus #46 is another I forgot. Not going to re-submit at this point. I'm sure it's not the last  I'll have.

Huh. I never had the desire to watch that one, but this is some high early praise.

ETA: on Netflix. :wall:
I read a glowing review after season 1 had ended, so i watched. I was hooked.

I was visiting my brother the next weekend and started him on it. We watched the entire first season that day/evening.

Queue it up

I was very surprised by how comedy heavy my list is.

ok. I'm going to stop stressing over this and send the 70 I have, I'm sure I've forgotten some that SHOULD be on there but oh well.

What made it easier for me was thinking about the math, number of people, and how wide open TV is. Scores already said a show that is just on one list might not make it, maybe even if it was at #1 because of the math. I'd guess most of our individual last 30 shows listed will struggle unless on over 1/2 of people's lists. I could be wrong, but that was how I rationalized not stressing much after I got to 45-50 I felt very strongly about.

Haven't chimed in on this thread. Just wanted it noted that I'm looking forward to everyone's opinions and will hopefully get some options on good shows I havent yet seen. Lead me to happiness people.

5:20 am Super Bowl Sunday. I've given this no thought beyond when I first saw it thinking I haven't watched 70 shows. Being the only one awake here and brewing some coffee, I searched for a list of the 100 greatest shows of all-time. Yup, I'd seen about 20 of them. But it jogged my memory a bunch. So I'm giving myself a couple hours to make a list. 70 seems crazy, but... I'll give it the old college try. Ya know, procrastinate to the last minute, cheat if you have to, just get that paper in to avoid an F. That's the college try, right?

Yup, and if that doesn't work - sleep with the professor. We will let you and Scoresman work out that part yourselves though. ;)

I know list making is hard but saying this comedy is better than that comedy is not that easy and I've already got rid of some really good ones.
:awkwardlaughtrack:
This knocks shows down for me now, unfortunately. I struggle a little watching old shows with laugh tracks.
Yeah the laugh tracks are much more noticeable now when you go back and watch old shows. It’s kind of amusing to notice some of the spots with howling laughter and clapping.

I'm up to 40 and I think they're ranked honestly. I also have 14 unranked as of yet as I continue to consider that aspect and seek shows I've yet to recall. I will avoid the dreaded alternative, though I really should have slept with Professor Thorlaksson backindaday. :)

Dang, 33 of mine I'd consider comedies.
And shocked I included 6 animated shows.
3 on my list.
Too funny. I say i don't like animated shows when asked now, but i have 9 in my list. A few key to me, a few i loved watching with my kids and my #70 is one I seem to be the only person who ever watched it in the 80s. Im sure others here might have, but IRL i get  when talking about it. I had the toys and everything.
