Lots of overlaps, but I put one category on each.

Similarly, I put each one in just 1 category:

6 animated
23 comedy
2 documentary
17 drama
11 sci-fi/fantasy
8 unscripted/reality
3 sketch comedy

Lots of dramas can have some strong comedy elements. Sci-fi/fantasy is mostly dramas, but 1 I would put as mostly comedy. All of my animated shows are comedies.

Unscripted/reality has only 1 true reality show, a few talk/news shows and a few competition shows.

I have 24 out of 70 I would put in the drama and/or action category.

12 which I would put in the Sci-fi/Fantasy catagory.

There are plenty of sub categories to drama:

Historical
Political thriller
Action
Medical
Police/law enforcement

Yada yada yada.

Really looking
Forward to the lively discussion and I know I probably missed some great shows amd put a few what would be considered stinkers in mine (nighttime soaps anyone)

But all the shows I put in my top 70 meant a lot to me for reason or another.

And I kept quite a few off that I loved as a kid growing up in the 70’s and 80’s that unadulterated cheese fests by todays standards.

I think I tapped a few of those andI don't care. Unfortunately, I've already thought of 5 that should be on my list. Should have slowed down and let this errand digest a little longer. Oh well.

I started by picking my #1 and #70. That last one is as cheesy as can be and I'm excited to say it has a spin off and a new season in the works.

Choosing just 1 category for each:

43 Drama
12 Comedy
4 Documentary
4 Talk show
2 Food
2 Music
2 Science Fiction
1 Fantasy

Another thought I just had was how much my wife has influenced this list. There are a few shows I would have never watched on my own that she got me into and they landed in the top 70. A couple of shows were also enhanced by the fact that it was something we watched together.

Married 25 years and am 47, so the vast majority of my adult life has been with her. Still a good number of shows she didn’t watch with me on here also. I counted 8 she would have been disgusted by and probably gotten mad at me for watching them.

I just sent Scoremans a replacement request for my #50 show to somwthing that was a staple for me as a 6,7,8,9 year old. And I still revisit it on DVD to this day as I have the complete series remastered on DVD.

I found that some of my favorites when I was much younger just didn't stand the test of time - it made me a little sad, but I kept bouncing in between "how much I love it then vs how much I would want to watch it now"

Something I just realized is that if there is a show that was remade and a list does not have the year, I've been making assumptions on which version is intended. Two shows that come to mind are Battlestar Galactica and Shogun. This could result in errors in the tabulation.

This is mostly my fault since I asked for titles as they are on iMDB.

For Battlestar Galactica, I've been assuming the 2004 remake unless specified otherwise.

For Shogun, I've been assuming the remake as well because I didnt even know about the early 80s miniseries.

:pickle:: :pickle:If you have a chance, please double check your lists for any remakes that might be misinterpreted by me and clarify the year if you can, especially if you intended the older version. :pickle::pickle:

There will probably be some errors in all this and they will be fixed as the countdown proceeds. The most accurate top 200 will be maintained in the OP.

Yeah I went thru the same process and the nostalgia shows I put in my top 70 I can still revisit and actually have and enjoyed them.

No need for the most important one since there is a comma to differentiate the two versions.

Correct for me (Shōgun). The modern version has a line over the o, not sure if people used that to distinguish.

I put the initial release date in all cases where there's potential ambiguity.

I have one instance of this, and my pick is the older version, and the year is noted in my submission.

I had similar thoughts while filling mine out. I did a top 10 solely on what I would grab first to rewatch, then 11-20 has some shows that rated higher because we watched them together, so I'd want those in the mix next. Then the next 5 were also boosted because those were the core shows from HS and college, but they are not great shows. Then I went from there thinking about what I would want to have around the house and tried to get something for every age. Stuff I loved as a kid, remember watching with the parents, or things I loved watching with my kids. The last 10 were more the cheesy stuff I wanted to give mention to.

I found that with a several, and I had a similar reaction. But, that made me appreciate the ones I did watch and forgot how great they are. There were 3 that I watched over the weekend that got a boost into the top 20. I had to stop myself from watching a ton of each of those, and two were ones that I remember watching as a kid and loving then. It's ok that Hey Dude in fact isn't that great of a show, I just had the hots for Christine Taylor. I can just rewatch my #15 or something else that lands at the top of this countdown I haven't gotten to.

Whoa, I almost forgot a big one. I had to resubmit a list with that show in the top 15.
I think scoresman is gonna line you all up against a wall soon with all your changes.
Ive forgotten 4 shows, but tough titty, i shouldnt have submitted earlier

Nah it’s pretty easy to handle resubmissions.
You stand strong if he breaks down and tries to add those 4 now. ;)
They are all mid range or lower, so not worth the effort
