The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 51: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (272 Viewers)

My parents would tape LA Law on the VCR and I'd have all week to watch before they taped over it for the next one. Those were the days.
Even in today’s DVR world, I still almost always say “tape”. I’m sure I’m not alone in this.
I still call what music artists release as albums.
The correct answer is records
Actually, no albums are full length records can be one song with a B side

Also got pretty bad so it didn’t make my 70.
although agree that it got pretty bad.
It was kind of a one trick pony so it was going to burn bright and die fast. They tried to stretch it out and it wasn't needed. Because it was such a great concept (as everyone on a FF board should agree) and done so well until it kind of ran it's course I had to rank it high. I didn't ding it for the last season or so.

It's a show I can rewatch, over and over and over again and still crack up like it was my first time watching it. Just a great cast that fit perfectly and had all the stereotypes needed. Taco's songs are incredible........just a tremendous aspect that adds so much to the overall greatness.

I originally had The League just outside the top 70 but put it back in my final revision

Lotta good bits from that one

Kegel the Elf :lmao:

Vinegar strokes

Whenever I get “stomach issues” from eating out I’ll often shout out Yobagoya!

Rafi was great in small doses but towards the end they relied too heavily on him

I'm mildly surprised this wasnt higher given some of the other stuff already ranked.

I'm probably in the minority, but I didn't really like the Taco character. The dimwit brother/friend thing just got old fast, at least IMO. Ruxin was the glue though.

I've never watched The Handmaid's Tale (loved the book, though), The League, or Cosmos. Considered both St. Elsewhere and The Last Dance for my list, especially the latter, which was shockingly good. I'd had a well-earned dislike of Michael Jordan for years, but the series actually changed my mind a bit. Felt like I "got" him better after that.

I just rewatched this recently and other than the outdated NFL players it holds up fine. The characters are practically cartoon characters and it's a bit over the top but very relatable to anyone that's in a fantasy football league with old friends.

this is a FF site and only 8 of you had the show about FF on your lists?

Greatest TV Shows

Not most relevant to our hobby ;)
but have you seen some of the shows on this list? I don't think suggesting that a FF themed show should have gotten more votes is that bad of a take.
Didn’t say it was a bad take, just that I’m not shocked it wasn’t ranked by many. Overall it wasn’t a great tv show imo.

I didn't think of adding this at all. In general I don't think I thought of docs as something for this list. If I would have then this and Ken Burns Baseball would have been on it.

Yeah, I disagree. Taco coming up with all his hairbrained ideas cracked me. Like sitting on the corner like a homeless man marking tallies on a banana leaf every time a girl in a jetta drove by to conclude that 93% of all jetta drivers are hot women. So hilarious out of nowhere. Plus, even if you didn't like the character his songs were awesome. The Birthday Song, Vinegar Strokes, Vaginal Hubris, Eskimo Brothers, I'm Inside Me...........just to name a few.

I liked this for a while, mainly because when I watched it I was in a Bukowski phase. I don’t think I saw it through to the end, can’t remember. This one also dragged on a while.

I really liked Californication but it ran too long. There was a natural break after about season 4 or 5? (When he drives off into the sunset) But then it kept coming back for more and overextended.

Didn't make my list but big fan of the show. Most of it still holds up to the LA of today.

Always been curious about this show. It's incredibly highly rated on review sites, but I never hear anyone talk about it. Seeing it only on 3 lists, yet still making the top 200 because of how highly the three ranked it, is consistent with this observation.

My wife and I watched this one regularly, and it started out well but hobbled to the end. It had a trajectory that was kind of similar to that of True Blood, but its highs weren't as high and at the end it just kind of ran out of gas as opposed to imploding spectacularly. Hence I had True Blood on my list but not this.

Runkle was a great character though, as a certain FFA poster can attest.

same. I always saw that it was so highly rated, so I actually started watching it a while back. my usual rule is that I will give any show 3 episodes to grab me, and this one didn't, so I gave up.

Anything it's comparable to? Is it more of a character-based show like a Mad Men? More action/plot based like 24 or Sopranos?

Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles are my generation's version of Tim Conway and Harvey Korman.

The way they played off each other was top notch, Laurel and Hardy level stuff.
yes! they're one of the great unsung comedy duos. somebody should have put them in a buddy roommate comedy show or something, it would have been hilarious. maybe throw Wayne Brady in the mix, too.

It's definitely more of a character show like Mad Men. The basic premise is that a man was sent to death row for like 18 years - as an 18 year old - for allegedly killing someone. Then there is a question about his conviction and he is released.

It may seem like a whodunnit - Did he kill her? If not who did? - but it's really not. That's not the point of the show.

The point of the show is to watch how the murder, his imprisonment, his release - how that all affects everyone involved. Especially him and his family.

It's slow but there is just some truly amazing work done. It's at times incredibly sad, then funny, then just ... complicated.

Great show.

Finally a Top 200 entry from my list. This show introduced me to Nick Kroll and Mark Duplass (and Nadine Velasquez as Sofia Ruxin). Lowbrow humor in a fantasy football setting - what more could you ask for?
It's like holding a mirror up to this board. And then crapping all over it.

Glaring omission on my part. This is a great show

Me too. I did my list last minute and just forgot this one. Losing my memory as I age has one cool thing about it. I can rewatch this great show and it will be new to me. Currently happening with a different rewatch.

Agreed. This would have been in my Top 5. The way the characters change during the course of the show is amazing because it feels natural instead of forced. There are not that many episodes compared to most series, so it doesn't take a lot of commitment. Just a gorgeous show.

All the sudden I'm craving some Yobagoya and a stay at the EBDB B&B!

Gally I dig your style.....I have the entire series on DVD. I keep it in my camp trailer and usually watch it when my buddy and I go on fishing trips. I've probably seen the whole series 4, or 5 times. It is ridiculously awesome! The cast is perfect! Buncha **** sippers!

If I did a list, this show could absolutely crack my top 10

I use stuff from the League almost daily. The other day I was able to make a "white knuckler" reference that about made my buddy piss his pants
