That this particular government abuse needs priority and is traceable to a guy who openly admits he despises these bureaucratic apparatuses seems to be a stretch, but I'm really doing football today, so I don't have enough time to flesh it out.

He doesn’t appear to despise bureaucracy when it comes to attacking any facet of immigration, legal or otherwise. He simply pushes for the cruelest, most limiting processes he can, and to Hell with the consequences.

That's a fair point. He's not above enforcing bureaucratic law when it comes to limiting immigration. He picks and chooses his bureaucratic battles as suits him. It's hardly principled, but it's like many modern presidents, which is unfortunate.

I have no idea what she’s considering. She’s facing uncertainty about whether she’s going to live. I don’t share your nonchalance about this, and hopefully most people don’t.

You have absolutely no idea what she is considering and neither does anyone else. Why would the letter being presented to her by her lawyer have any bearing on your ridiculous assertion that she won't consider leaving within 33 days? Absurd.
She was invited here as a child for a specific reason. Medical research. She has been able to live longer due to treatments she continually receives here and cannot get where she originates from. She is now an adult. She is no longer permitted to stay here, in fact she is being uninvited and told to leave. Why are you okay with this?

What’s truly despicable is that someone in the administration said “You know those medical exceptions that have been saving lives? We need to put an end to that.” And people agreed.

It has bearing because her lawyer wouldnt just hand it to her without words. She wont even see the inside of a courtroom until 2020 if they even bring it to action.
She is obviously permitted to stay here since tons of people are still here that have court orders to be removed and she isnt even a fraction of the way into the process.
You guys are acting like on day 33 the gestapo shows up and takes her away. That isnt even close to the truth and any immigration lawyer obviously knows this.

Also, she is not OBVIOUSLY permitted to stay here. The official letter states otherwise. You have no clue whatsoever. Neither do I.

Your post is trash. You say that not one person is acting like they would be taken after 33 days but then in the same breath say that the country turned its back on them. Thats bs posting at its finest.
They will still be here in 20 years if they are alive. Thats why i dont care about this faux outrage you're trying to cause. You're being fake. Senator Markey is being fake. None of them have been deported.
People come here illegally. They get notified to leave. They dont leave. They get court orders against them. They get arrested. They have some liberal city get custody of them and release them and shield them from ICE. And they are still here!
So yeah i am pretty freaking skeptical that these people (being used as political pawns now by people like you) will ever actually get deported when we dont even deport people that should be on a regular basis.

ridiculous! The mere fact that these letters were sent at all has done harm and is contrary to any sense of decency. Whether anyone is ever deported or not there is no justification for this action!

Its all good. Those facing the struggles of life threatening illness are just receiving idle threats. If we all stopped using this as a political talking point and leave the administration to its own devises there would be nothing to worry about. Indifference is so much better than caring.

The program was always being criticized and there were never formal procedures in place. Advocates wanted more approved and wanted actual written published policies since such a small % got approved.
Where were all of you super caring citizens then when these sick people were being denied? Oh, whats that? You didn't know anything about it? Weird you never heard of these sick kids getting denied and being deported huh? So either people only care about it now because it is Trump or they weren't actually getting deported. My money is on both.

Well to be fair he is in favor of allowing east European teen girls in for breast enhancement surgeries. I believe he and Jeffrey Epstein even set up a sort of scholarship program to help them out with this. Of course once they reach the age of majority they are then sent packing back to their home countries.
The foregoing is fake news. I have no proof that Donald Trump has ever funded a scholarship program. In fact I believe he reneged on his pledge to enhance Lauren.

People care now because they are learning that people going through the process as lacking as it may have been are being told that the process retroactively no longer exist; and that there won't be a process; and to get out of the country now. If the same thing happened in the past or happens in a post Trump future* then it was wrong also. I don't think Tim and the others would be bending over backwards to try to excuse it as "both sides"
in these cases either. * I'm sure similar has happened before as a matter of that is how bureaucracies work but that is not the same thing as a blanket policy change. Hopefully this is just bureaucratic nonsense that you get when "government doesn't work" folks with their self fulfilling leadership are put in charge and not really a policy change that sticks. Not holding my breath and I hope the decent people continue to stand up and shout that this is inexcusable.

That happened about two years faster than I thought it would.
I figured there might end up at least being some court actions. Maybe even a court order to leave followed by lack of enforcement, which is the norm these days. We didn't even get that far. Sorry you guys didn't get to pretend to be outraged for longer.

All the hip people are outraged. It’s a thing. Of course, it’s a pretty easy trend to follow if you are so inclined. You don’t have to do anything other than publicly claim to be outraged. Does that mean one is actually outraged? Probably not.
