Here is my transcript of the PC. I don't expect anything to change.
Look at the bolded parts below.
Parcells:
Everone practiced. I feel like we'll have the option of the whole roster unless something happens tomorrow.
Elements are a great equalizer in games. I've coached many games with inclement weather up there. You have an advantage if as you are used to it. I don't think the forecast Sunday is for bad weather. Now if it was a day like today we would have to change our strategy.
It doesn't look like this game will decide the NFC. The only thing the tie-breakers affect is ties. That's all hypothetical at this point. You wait to the final week to worry about that.
Gramatica has been perfect this week in practice. No I don't think Vanderjagt had that but it really doesn't matter in practice. We've tried to give him alot of work this week.
He had something in his groin I think in '03. They were trying to keep him alive for the season by using some kind of painkiller. It turns out he had some kind of hernia surgery that didn't work out. That was the '04 problem. He then had surgery again on an abductor muscle and that seems to have solved his problems. I had the advantage of knowing what he did this summer and it was indicated to me he had no problems.
I have a ceiling with everyone on this team based on what I see in warm-ups. That is normal business, it will be no different for Gramatica. I'll have to wait til Sunday to see what happens in that regard.
I think his KO's will be OK; as good as what we had.
I haven't said anything to the team in regards to Shockey. I don't plan on using that. I do regard him as a dangerous opponent. I remember what he did to us in the first game. I have seen things cause problems on a team before. I'm not talking about the Giants. I don't know what is going on, I just know what is being reported and that is only about 50/50 reliable from you guys these days. I would doubt the Giants are unraveling. I am expecting a tough game. I know what they did to us down here and now we have to go on the road and play them.
The DL play is better I think. Fergie is the key guy there. He has to play well every week. Spears has picked it up a bit. I would like to see a little more from Chris. He's on the weak side and doesn't get as much action so he gets frustrated. I told him just to play the defense. Hatcher has been a help for us as has been Ratliff. Montavious look sbetter than when he left here. Those guys must have coached him better than us cause he sure looks better.
I talk to these young guys about earning the right to play. They aren't promised any time. I tell them they will only see time if they produce and work hard. These players have different body clocks. Some are ready now and some won't be ready for two more years. you can't just lump them into one category. You have to identify what they are lacking and then as a coach direct the player properly toward what is neccessary to be successful at his position. There are only so many jobs to go around so you have to earn that time. Yes, egos get bruised but that's the way it is.
Yes, that suits ? right now. I think that's what he's gonna be, right now. That's important. That's a 800 play guy. I'll take any of those.
Romo is different now than he was the last Giant game. He has some road games under his belt and some more experience. I can't compare him to Simms, he was unique unto himself.
I think Romo has some of the characteristics of Ray Lucas. The leadership qualities. He was honest, forthright, accountability kind of guy. Both were very confident players and you had to let them experience bad sitations so they would know they can't do everything. Tony used to overthrow when he first got here. He's kind of gotten away from that hopefully, for the most part. Ray did an outstanding job for us and played above his level of talent I think. Hopefully Tony will wind up with some of the same results.
Giant fans are pretty loyal like most fans in the NFC East. A lot has to go wrong before they as a crowd help us. It won't be a comfortable atmosphere.
We did use some speakers this week to get used to the noise.
I think Tony is managing the game much better now. He is better with the tempo and clock management. That is a very important part of offensive football that people don't realize. There is a lot of thinking going on and moving parts. A bad game manager will get you in bad plays when you need good plays.
David, Sean and Chris deserve the credit for Tony's development. I don't know who has been most influential, you'll have to ask him.
We gave up 6 sacks and 4 int's last time. That is about a season's worth.
Umi is a good DE. He is coming off what was apparently a serious injury. Being out that long with a hip flexor is major.
Julius is very well rested. He was telling me he is feeling really good. I think one of the disadvantages to Julius has been that Marion has been getting more time when we are rolling. Julius has been part of the starts and we haven't been doing that too well. Fellas it hasn't changed since camp. The way we use them is not going to change. We won't flip flop them. I would like to see it about a 2-1 ratio of Julius to Marion or even as high as 50/50. I am equally confident in both players and they both bring something different to the table. You have to have two good backs. That fella in KC is the expception to the rule. You come in here any Monday and Julius is one of the first guys in the building doing squats and his game program. He knows the game really well. I think he realizes how hard it is and he has his brother to bounce things off of. I'm sure he does that.
Look, until you guys brought it up, I didn't even realize we were putting Barber in inside the ten. No, Julius hasn't said anything and he won't. If he did we would talk about it, but he isn't complaing and I'm not trying to make a point about anything. He's gonna have aroun 1200 yards. Is that enough for you guys? He 's sees Marion can help the team and he is a team guy. You would have to be blind not to see that. He doesn't say anything about it. Marion never says anything.
Akin has improved immeasurably in this defense than the start of the season. He is really starting to do well in pass defense, but he isn't perfect; like all of these other guys.
Brady is playing to high, he needs to come down a little bit.
