The World Wars - History Channel (1 Viewer)

SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
Anyone watching these?

I didn't see a thread, so sorry if I missed it. I watched the first one last night but haven't seen the second one yet. I'm really impressed with it. Presented very nicely. If you're a history buff, these seem to be a must see.

This show is awesome. Watched the rise of Hitler and Churchhill last night. Great presentation and I learned some things I didn't know about that time in history.

A little heads up next time, geez! :D

Hopefully I can get it on demand or a re-air. Sounds interesting.

My bad. I think they've been advertising it since February, so I figured everyone knew.

I guess this is a good place to put this then:

June 6, they have a special (not sure if it's just one night or what) that has never before seen footage of D Day from the camera men assigned to capture the war. Should be pretty interesting.

Side note, I thought it was funny that during the 1st episode, they were advertising the hell out of a new Wolfenstein game during the commercials.

DVR Set. Thanks Sheik. I flipped past one episode half-way through and meant to set the re-play to record and forgot.

For those of you searching for old episodes:

Ep. 1 - Trial by Fire

Ep. 2 - A Rising Threat

Ep. 3 - Never Surrender

I got halfway through the 2nd episode before bed last night. I like it but it's in the same vein as Men Who Built America where they beat you over the head with the material....material that is interesting but isn't very groundbreaking. Overall it is entertaining though

My one major gripe is how they just sort of left out Lenin and Stalin after they introduced them early on in episode 1. Halfway through 2 (Great Depression) the last we hear of them is prior to the 1917 Russian Revolution. I guess they had no impact on the way power balanced out in the 20s, 30s and 40s. Maybe I have to finish the 2nd episode

Really looking forward to the D-Day special this Friday on History.

I have them DVR'd and wasn't sure if it was worth the investment, but it looks everyone here enjoyed it. Also, props to everyone for avoiding spoilers. Classy bunch.

Really enjoyed it, especially the earlier parts, as I haven't seen/read as much about WWI as about WWII.

Although by the end I couldn't watch Stalin without seeing Ron Burgundy. I think it was the crooked 'stache.

I've watched the first two so far, and hope to knock out the third one today.

I like them so far, I just wish they would have expanded more on other main figures and their WW I experiences. Were any of the major Japanese figures doing during The Great War? Any of them in Europe? What about someone in Germany other than Hitler. What about Rommel?

I was also curious why they left out Rommel.. and Montgomery and Gen Bradley.
Overall I liked it. There is an awful lot to cover from WW I through II even in six hours, but they completely left out North Africa. They had Churchill mention North Africa at the Tehran conference, but seriously, that's it? They made it sound like Patton was sitting stateside until they sent him into Sicily. No mention that he was battling it out with Germany's best General in major tank battles. The same German general in charge of the Invasion Defense in France.

That's just an awful big omission.
