Them blues, classical, one hit wonders, then.... (1 Viewer)

i was surprised to see the amount of attention them blues had here. I bet country gets little attention and it's looking like this kind of thing has little interest here..  How about those Doo *** vocal groups of the 50's? Motown? Rockabilly?

There are about 1000 music threads now. I am a big fan of doo-***, obviously motown but also the general pop standards of the 30s-50s as well.

Like most when I first heard Stagger Lee by Lloyd Price I just assumed it was his song.  Then when I starting schooling myself, we can trace that somg back to Ma Rainey and Hull & Reed in the 20's. a little before Furry Lewis who also did a version. Stagger Lee...or Stack 0' Lee, Stackerlee.

My fav Lloyd Price.

Dude, Patti Clayton.........damn!!!!  I'd forgotten all about her.

Ever thought what it be like if Patsy Cline had appeared on American Idol?

My fav The Flamingos.

I like it, reminds me of the old Delta blues records. I would have to be in a pretty particular mood to listen to a lot of it though. It made me want to watch Bonnie and Clyde though.
You wouldn't believe just how much of that old hillbilie stuff is out there, I love it.

Freddie Spruell first recorded n 1926, nobody from the Delta recorded sooner, he is considered to be the first Delta blues man to record.

The picture is Ishman Bracey who recorded a year later and is HUGE in them Delta Blues.
