There's hope for Kevin Jones (1 Viewer)

OK I am a patient Jones owner. He has been sitting quietly on my bench since week 1. DIdn't see the game, I have no idea why he didn't play in the 1st half, but his numbers in the 2nd half were encouraging.

My hope is that he's fully recovered after the bye, and that I can start to play him as a solid RB2.

Thoughts?

I did not see the game either, but did notice the box score he did get more carries then, Bell, plus if the game would have been closer IMO he would have gotten even more

I was wondering why they didn't play him in the first half as well. Then, I got to wondering if they just wanted to use him big in the second half, just too see how his body would hold up. Since they have the bye week to rest up.

I watched the game and he looked REAL good to me in the second half, running hard and finding holes.

Anyone with the game recorded can double-check me on this, but I'm almost certain I saw him on the field in the 1st half. The Lions only had 4 rushing plays in the 1st half. I don't think Martz intentionally didn't hand the ball to Jones in the 1st half. As usual he was just dead set on throwing the ball, and what few runs they had happened with Bell in the game.Jones did look good when he was used, especially on the drive that ended with Detroit's only points. After the safety at the end of the 3rd, though, they basically just stopped running the ball.

Jones says second half shows he can play; Calvin Johnson used sparingly

LANDOVER, Md. -- In the first half of Sunday's 34-3 loss to the Redskins, Lions running back Kevin Jones barely saw the field and didn't touch the ball.

But in the second half, he had 11 carries for 48 yards and two catches for 17 yards.

Asked about the way he was used in the first half, Jones said: "I don't agree with that. I think I need to be in there consistently getting touches so I can get into the rhythm of the game."

Coach Rod Marinelli said the Lions stuck to their rotation and the decision was based on Jones' health.

This was Jones' third game since he suffered a serious foot injury Dec. 10 last season against Minnesota.

Jones said he wasn't 100% yet, but added: "I'm good enough to play and good enough to get the ball." Talking about how he played in the second half, Jones said: "Hopefully that shows them that I can go."

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson also saw limited action after sitting out last week with a bruised lower back. He caught only one pass for three yards and came out late in the game when his back stiffened.

Asked if it was time to play Jones and Johnson full-time, Marinelli said: "I think you have to see how they are health-wise. That's always the issue. Health is the issue."

I'm not sure what we saw more of yesterday....Bell proving that he will not be a factor, or Jones proving he will be.

I can say very confidently that with 2 weeks off, you'll see a whole hell of a lot more of Jones as the primary RB. The difference between the two ain't even close. I say start him if you got him after the bye.
