Things I will not do in this years draft... (1 Viewer)

Every year before the draft I make a short list of things to remind myself NOT to do. Gut feelings, past experiences, etc.

What are yours?

I'll start us off.

"I will not touch the Denver running game. Let it be someone else's headache."

Before the draft, I will not constrain myself to any hard and fast rules, lest I pass up great value as a result.

I will not draft Kevan Barlow, I will not draft Kevan Barlow, I will not draft Kevan Barlow. :bag:
I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow... :bag: (even though would onlybe an $8 hit against my $200 auction cap)Maybe if Gore wasn't there... Aaaarrrrghhh!! :wall: I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow,I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow, I will not keep Kevan Barlow...

I will not stare at the Commish's wife, I will not stare at the Commish's wife, I will not stare at the Commish's wife, I will not stare at the Commish's wife.

Crap I'm starting to stare at the commish's wife.

I will not stare at the Commish's wife, I will not stare at the Commish's wife, re at the Commish's wife, I will not stare at the Commish's wife,

More details please. I said I wouldn't touch the Denver running game this year either. Yup, drafted Dayne. The one I always keep in my mind is "Don't get stuck on the tail end of position runs."

A few years ago I got smart and brought a Playboy, a FHM and a Maxim magazine to the draft. When the draft started I flopped them down on the coffee table. The commish was immediately engrossed. He had his worse draft and worse season ever. The next year we had the draft at his house. His wife and her cousin (who just happened to be a Hooter waitress) decided it would be a good time to sunbathe in the front yard in full view of all who were drafting except the commish that had his back to the window. They would frequently come inside and talk to us. They would bring food to us repeatedly. The funny thing is when the commish was up to draft they were absolutely quiet. At the end of the draft Ron (commish) winked at me. That’s when I knew that this fantasy football league had ceased being a game and became an all out war for supremacy. :lmao:

I will not fall in love with one player.

I will not trade Larry Johnson for Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell right after my draft and I will not listen to the a-holes on this board who actually convinced me to pull the trigger!!!

I will not make other peoples mistakes.... for sure. And I will not put my hopes on Deshaun Foster or Willis McGahee's talent.

HEY! You stole my strategy! :lmao: I did this a few years ago and guys would become engrossed in the magazines like you said and when it got to their pick they would just call out a name off the top of their head. Most of them didn't even realize it was their turn and who they were picking until it was too late.

We had our draft at hooters one year and that was pretty painful overall for everyone since all of us had whiplash!

*EDIT*

Oh...I'm not drafting Kevin Jones!

That's one smart commish!

I will make picks that are best suited for MY TEAM, and try not to make the "sexy" pick that draws the ooohs and ahhhs.

[talkin' dynasty here.]

Don't pass on a great WR in order to get your 3rd RB.

took TO > JJ, Chester Taylor, Doughns

(REDRAFT though, wouldn't touch TO in a dynasty)

Doesn't matter what I do or don't do. The football gods will smash me no matter what!!!!!

2004-2005 season, i lose by .8 points because TO broke his feelings.

2005-2006 season, 2nd round, i was up 15 points with gado and GB defensive to go. My opponent had Todd Heap, NUFF SAID!!!

I will not draft my bye week fillers BEFORE looking at their bye weeks.

I will not share my personal cheatsheets with anyone that comes unprepared.

This one really bugs me. After getting annnoyed about it a few years ago I started this strategy: I would go and look thru all the FF mags at the local newstand and buy the one I thought had the worst rankings. Then if anyone asked to borrow my stuff because they were unprepared, I gave them the magazineI WILL NOT draft for another team this year, nor do a draft by consensus for someone who doesn't show up. These guys always end up with good teams. In one redraft we did this for a guy last year, the guy got 2nd place!

I will not reach too early on my sleepers this year over quality players that have slid in the draft.

I will also not forget to load up on brocolli, bananas, granny smith apples, beef and bean burritos, cabbage, or any other flatuent-inducing products that will give me the true WMD arsenal necessary to wipe out my fellow owners, or at the very least, considerably disorient them. :X :hot: :yucky:

make sure not to do this too much. would be funny is you spent an hour in a stall looking at your rankings while the draft was going on

I will not draft a QB before the 8th round....unless of course P Manning is sitting there in the 6th..And a side note...I will bring a couple of Magazines to this years draft.
