Things you regret about your draft this fantasy season (1 Viewer)

# 1. I live on a tropical island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In August, a co-worker of mine ( one of my bosses ) flew out her for ten days to attend some meetings. Although he lives in Norfolk, Virginia, he is a huge Saints fan. He kept telling me about this young kid named Colsten out of Hofstra who was going to be their # 2 behind Horn. He said that that Colston was actually better than Horn. I ignored him :wall: To top it off, Colsten went undrafted in our 14 team league ( 18 roster spots ) and someone else scooped him up off waivers after week 1. To add insult to injury (mental), This particular league uses Yahoo for stat-tracking and Colsten can be utilized as a T/E or W/R. ( I have Heap but had to use a 5th round pick to get him). So, Not getting Colston is a major blunder and something I regret big time.

# 2. Sleeping on Frank Gore :( Stuoid. In PPR leagues he's gold with ADP somewhere in the mid 2nd - 3 round.

O.K. One more, Mc Nabb went in the 5th round. @rap !

redraft 12 man

1. Taking SA #1 overall. I believe in the madden curse

2. Taking Fitz with my 2nd pick instead of Chester Taylor or Wayne ( figured i could go with Fitz since SA would pick up slack for my #2 )

3. Having the draft AUGUST 11TH!!! EARLY

10 man keeper

1. keeping edge as a 2nd rnd

2. not keeping kevin jones as a 2nd rnd

Things I am glad I Did at draft:

1. Gore in the 9th

2. Walker in the 5th

3. Coles in the 7th

4. Brees in the 10th ( later dropped him to waivers lol but i got peyton )

5. Tater in the 8th

Eli in the 6th, but liked

Walker in 4th, Crumpler in 4th and Driver in the 9th(keeper league).

Took Jordan and Caddy with the 10th & 11th picks. Don't think I could have come out of round 2 with two more under achieving players this season.

Willie

Redraft 10 Team

Passed on Rudi because of his schedule and took L. Jordan at 2.1 instead of Rudi. But with S. Jackson, C. Taylor, and McGahee (now traded) I've been doing o.k.

Taking Shaun Alexander over Ladanian Tomlinson. His playoff schedule looked like cake, but he also had the Super Bowl loser jinx.

Took Boldin over Holt because of an injury to Holt that turned out to be nothing.

Not taking a QB in the 3rd round, by the 4th, everyone was gone and I ended up with trent Green.

14 teamer, E James falling to me at 12. That appears to opitimize my season. 12 teamer, traded the #1 pick for #3 slot in first two rounds. Of course, him=LJ me =SA. Barely hanging in there, need some karma soon!!!!!!!

pretty sure he ment epitomize

anyway mine was drafting the biggest stiff in the NFL troy williamson

why the heck did i buy the kool aid on this loser?

Without bragging about my good picks, I will point out my bad ones as the OP asked. I regret drafting Dillon, Rhodes and Rod Smith. I should have drafted either Addai or Maroney, who were drafted later. I should have diversified the risk by taking a chance on one of those rookies. Looking back at my last few drafts, I've noticed that I tend to stay away from rookies. Next year, I'll be willing to take a calculated risk if the price is right.

1. Picking SA over LJ and LT

2. Drafting Droughns ahead of K. Jones (although I ended up trading for him anyway)

3. Buying the hype and drafting M. Bell ahead of Gore (no excuse on that one!)

4. Culpepper and Trent Green (6th round, 11th round)

1.11 Caddy

2.02 Chad Johnson

3.11 R.Bush

Drinking the koolaid on these bums.

Fortunately my next 3 were:

4.02 Driver

5.11 Heap

6.02 McNabb

I'm beginning to regret taking Gates in the 3rd round. Still time to make it worth my while, and while he's had some good weeks recently, this week hurt. Droughns in the 4th was another dud.

THe biggest duds have by far been the Two Jakes - Delhomme and Plummer taken in the 9th and 10th. Thought I had great value and a solid tandem there. Now i'm cruising with Kitna and Brees, both WW pick ups.

VERY Happy with ROY in the 5th and Deuce in the 8th however :D

Passing up SJax for sitffs like Edge and Cadillac.

Drafting Reggie Bush, that guy looks like he's regressing.

I passed on Kevin Jones in the third rd of a 14 team league. I am a Lion homer too..that is probably why.

Lamont Jordan in the 2nd, Gates in the 3rd.

Fortunately I got Kevin Jones, Chester Taylor and Jon Kitna later and it has, so far, saved my draft.

I took SJax at 1.06 - it was all downhill from there (Fitz, R Moss, Foster).

Waiting on my TE and being happy that Ben Watson fell to me - ugh

Drafting Lundy in rd 13 and cutting him three weeks into the season, while someone else picked him up.

I made the same mistake with Gates. Warner wasn't a good option as my QB (different league than Gates), but he was the 14th QB taken. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with my 3 drafts. Now my record and the crappy H2H matchups I've been getting.......that's another story.

I was WAY too high on T.Williamson. I own him everywhere and, obviously, that has not panned out.

Took M.Clayton (TB) in both of my $ leagues. Again....no go.

Took Delhomme as my QB1 in both my $ leagues, which would be OK, but I took him too early and he is not earning his draft slot. I thought with Keyshawn and Smaith he would have better #s.

Live and learn............

Mainly two general things that didn't work as well this year as in the past:

1) Stud WR (and/or Gates) in the 2nd & 3rd rounds. Holt is the only one in the top 10 right now (and his last 2 games have been clunkers.) My combo's of guys like Holt, Fitz, Steve Smith, Chad Johnson, Randy Moss and/or Gates range from okay to really bad.

2) As a consequence, taking those guys early caused me to miss out on middle tier RB's and WR's that are outperforming their draft spots like Gore, Chester, Kevin Jones, Andre Johnson, Javon, Wayne, Roy, Hines, etc.

Culpepper in round 7.

Gates over C.Taylor, Fitz (well, ok there) and Wayne at 3.2. I knew I should have gone with Taylor, but WRs already flew off and I thought Gates was the safest play for me. If I took Taylor, I'd have McNabb instead of Addai at 5.3 and woudln't have burned the C-Pep pick either.

Branch in the 6th. Ouch.

(Note, we have drafted in week 1 preseason the last few years but this year it was week 2, and my first draft. Need to move the $$$ league back :) )

Yep, I had both of these guys (8.11 and 9.2) in my money league and most elsewhere with value. Neither are on my team in the $ league now (though I did just pick up Jones again for Bryant Johnson)

12 team redraft league where I had the #2 pick:

1) Passing on LT for SA. :wall:

2) Drafting M.Bulger at 6.11. The guy with the #1 pick also needed a QB and Bulger was the best one on the board. However, Vick was also on the board and so was A.Johnson. I should have took AJ and settled for Vick. Instead I took Bulger and he got them both in his next 2 picks (his other receivers were Moss & Mason).

I'm still 32 in the league at 6-3, but the guy who took Vick & AJ is #1 at 8-1.

I drafted Delhomme and Chris Simms but I quickly realized my mistake and picked up Chad Pennington - then later realizing that Delhomme and Pennington had the same bye week picked up Huard. I am either in first place or tied for first place in my division in all my leagues.

Also drafting Bush in the second round of a single player keeper league (so it was only a third round pick). BUT STILL :bag: . He is useless.

Drafting Bush with 1.1 pick in a keep 5 12 team league. Just felt that I had to but I was looking to trade that pick away hoping that I wouldn't get the chance to draft him. No offers were even made to get the first pick from me. No one else really jumped out as deserving of being the first pick so I took him. :bag:

1.10 - I told myself whatever you do don't take Jordan.

What did I do? took Jordan.

That was the first time ever walking out of a draft that I said this team is bad. And the 2-6 record backs it up :)

Luckily I have 3 other leagues that I'm doing well in :whew:

Getting outbid for Colston after Week 1. (We use FAAB for our waiver system, like in fantasy baseball.) I knew he was gonna be someone special (and drafted him in my other league) but I didn't have the courage to bid more.

I was giddy that the Carson Palmer, Chad Johnson tandem landed in my lap... I didn't even TRY to land such a magnificent combo, it just happened... I though I was so lucky.

First year dynasty league.

had the 1.08 pick (wasn't happy) - Took L. Jordan (RB PPR) :bag:

2.05 pick took Fitz - (WR PPR)

had the draft early when Dayne was the starter for the Broncos and took him as my RB3. :bag: :bag:

I have no RB depth due to injuries and underperformance. Luckily I picked up Norwood in hte later rounds. My WRs are decent but have injuries this year. Needless to say I am last in the league. The silver lining is atleast I will get A Peterson next year during the rookie draft.

My number one regret in ALL my leagues is waiting TOO long at QB.

Waiting at QB was the right move, waiting as long as I did in almost all my leagues, big mistake - esp. when I ended with Warner/Trent Green/Aaron Brooks as my QB1 in three leagues.

phrozen = best avatar evah.

I just sat and stared at it for a full 4 minutes - it is mesmerizing.

My first 2 picks. 1.08 LaMont Jordan and 2.04 Willis McGahee. In a 10 team, large starting roster league.

Somehow I'm still 6-2, 7-2 after tonight's game. Mostly on the strength of my two keepers from last year. Chester Taylor and Roy Williams.

I draft LT #2 overall in a 10-team redraft big $$$ league (LJ went #1 and I didnt like SA so I went with LT). I am very happy with it but after LT I drafted like this:

2nd- C. Johnson

3rd- Randy Moss

4th- D. Foster

5th- Droughns

but I made up for it by drafting Frank Gore, Tatum Bell and Marques Colston late. I also was able to trade for Ronnie Brown and Galloway and been rotating players at QB & WR to get to 6-3 but I did start 1-2, but now I'm first in my division.

I also waited TOO long on QB and TE. I was so happy when Watson fell to me. I also drafted Delhomme pretty late and he has now come on so its not too bad.

I'm now looking to deal CJ and Ronnie Brown for a top-notch WR.

Mine too. I thought a Jake Plummer/Trent Green combo would be good enough. I replaced Green with Pennington but right now the best on the waiver wire is Charlie Frye so I still have to get by with Plummer and Pennington.

The one thing I regret about my fantasy draft is that it was only 14 rounds long. I drafted well, but with only six bench spots I've had to scramble to fill bye week holes. I've dropped quality players to the waiver wire, and they've quickly been gobbled up by the cellar dwellers and bottom feeders in my league.

3. Having the draft AUGUST 11TH!!! EARLY
We had ours on Aug 6th. No one had even heard of Mike Bell yet by then (that was later in the week, I think). I regret taking Caddy in the 2nd (luckily, everyone slept on Dunn and he slipped to the 10th to me. Thank god IDPs go early in my league and I also got Tatum in the 16th to make up for that travesty - LJ was my 1st)I regret waiting on QB along with everyone else and letting McNabb slip to 10th round. He was going to be my next pick and he didn't make it that far, but I did manage to get lucky with Vick in the 11th (although I thought I was "settling" with Vick). Long story on the McNabb thing. The entire league had a pool going to see how long he'd last before being drafted... that's the short version. Unfortunately for those of us that didn't get him, we lost.Choosing Shockey over Heap for TE. It was a tossup. I took Shockey. It's still early and could pan out.IDPs look good, no complaints there. Overall, though. I still think I drafted well in my main draft. In my other league, it's a different story. I won't go into it.
