I think Johnson was drafted to be the replacement for the job Michael Turner outgrew.

Johnson and Sproles could be a decent combo if LT were not available. I wonder what this means for Michael Bennett?

Where's the neither option?

If he proves himself he could be part 2 in the committee to Sproles after LT's days are finally done.

What's that? RB3 upside?

I love the way Gartrell runs the ball. He doesn't have a great first step burst or second gear, but he sees the hole, gets compact, and gets up to his one speed right away.

Part of the question here is how long LT has left. Not too long ago it felt like he might be released. Will we get to that point again next year, but even deeper? If LT is hurt at the end of the season again, I think the answer will be yes. If he stays healthy and productive all year, he should return, and Gartrell may be blocked from getting a shot until after SD brings in another young rookie with better burst in 2011, which would be unfortunate because I think Gartrell is the kind of RB who will really surprise if he can just get on the field.

I saw a lot of his games all through out college, and for the most part, until his last year he was terrible. I'm not sure what changed but he really turned it up towards the end of this junior year and got good. Until that point he was possibly the worst running back I had ever seen, he didn't hit holes hard and would go down with anything more than a touch. While he did improve, I have little doubt he will be a flop in the NFL. One year does not make a good back.
