Thoughts on sniping trade offer (1 Viewer)

So this guy is in discussions with another owner to get DeSean Jackson. The Jackson owner initially offered this guy a trade, but later canceled it, before he could accept. So they are in negotiations.

Is it unethical for me to get in and try to get DeSean?, it would improve his WR2 situation big.

I have a few to deal as my Wrs are Steve Smith (car), Roddy, Marshall, MSW, Nicks, Massaquoi. And My Rbs SJax, Forte, Moreno, Michael Bush, Mewelde.

Dog eat dog world. If your team can benefit from a fair trade for DJax, why wouldnt you do it? FBG's thinks highly of him according to their latest 250 forward.

How do you even know about it? If it's public knowledge (as in, you didn't find out by commissioner abilities on a site) then you have every right-- a responsibility, even-- to get in there and try to help your team.

I would draw the line for myself at whether I think the trade helps my roster or not. I don't think you should hurt your roster in order to deny another team a player. But I wouldn't think it was wrong to give up a little more than you might have otherwise been willing to in order to make it happen, so long as you still think your roster benefits.

I found out about because the guy I'm palying, the guy the trade was offered to, I'm friends with, and he called and said he got offered this trade. I would of found out about it eventually, I was elected to be the one to approve trades. My only guideline is no shenanigans. I actually told him to accept the trade last night. He waited now the the offer has been canceled.

OK, go for it

I've done this several times. If I'm facing an owner with a kicker on a bye and I've got the roster space, I'll pick up the best kicker available too. That's part of the game. But GMs have long memories, you'll be a prime target for that sort of thing later.

UNETHICAL????? No-brainer is more like it. I'm a fan of picking up 2 or 3 of the best ww qb's when I know my upcoming opponent needs to do so as well.

There's so little control over fantasy (mostly luck) that you should embrace any chance you have to control outcomes.

If the offer had been accepted I assume you wouldn't have vetoed to make a better offer. Talking about things like this becomes somewhat sketchy simply because it makes it look like you're colluding with him - appearance only that is. Therefore if he was about to accept but mentions it to you, I probably stay away.

Green light.

That's my issue is that he was asking my advice last night, I said go for it. He's been trying to get DeSean since draft day. Eagles homer. So I'm aware how much he loves the dude.

I wouldn't get involved in a bidding war if it were me. I've been in similar situations. My friends and I always discuss potential trades and trade offers and we always give each other honest advice. If I find out that one of my friends has a chance to get a guy that I'm also interested in, I'll offer my advice and sit it out. If negotiations eventually end and no deal is done, then I might go to the other owner and start negotiations of my own.

I was gonna try either MSW or Marshall straight up.
I like them both better than DeSean, but would try most of your other guys, except Roddy. DeSean would be your WR4 probably unless Delhomme shows life and bring Smith back into the picture.

Well issue resolved. The owner looking to trade DeSean made a deal with another owner, and oh boy what a dummy.

He sent DeSean and LJ for Julius Jones and Michael Jenkins. Guys just destroying his team, 2 weeks ago I traded him Gates and McFadden for Scheffler and Forte.
