first of all i would like to thank the football guys for all their hard work and superior info and thoughts this year. i had never played idp before and this year i am in 5 "defense only" leagues. today i am in 3 championship games and 2 consolation bracket games for 3rd. this is all because of the football guys as i leaned on them exclusively for input and decision help. thank you again.

as for my final week i am perplexed as to whether to start my studs such as ray lewis and ruud and durant and lofton etc (although he is Q) ro to go with better matchups with anderson, dem williams, butler, white etc. i've have gone both ways this season and have reaped the rewards and been burned some weeks choosing one way or another. any thoughts as to go with studs with poorer matchups or up and coming guys with better matchups?

thanks in advance and thanks again to the football guys which were for me the only way to go for idp football and will again next year.

I'm generally of the opinion that the players you've started in most weeks should start in your playoff games. It's usually a mistake to over-analyze and out-think yourself. However, I think there are times where a close inspection of players -- especially on the defensive side where the player pool tends to be deeper within tiers -- argues that you should ignore the "name" and start a player a half tier down.

For example, most weeks I would start Curtis Lofton over Lance Briggs without thinking twice about it. This week, the combination of matchups and injury issues would have me starting Briggs over Lofton without stressing over the "I just sat my stud" concerns.

In other words, make the decisions in the same way that you've made them all season. If things are mostly equal (talent, matchup, injury, surrounding cast, etc), then let your gut be your guide.

t. branch or m. white? thanks played branch all year and was richly rewarded. do i stay the course or go with white?
