Thursday Lineup Deadline (1 Viewer)

Question one:

Is my league the only one out there that has to have final lineups set before the the Thursday night games each week?

Question two:

Do you start the safe play or role the dice on a questionable stud?. In my case I'm deciding between Knowshon @ KC and DeAngelo vs. Tampa. To increase the pressure, if I win I clinch the regular season title and take home $750 (This is more a risk/reward philosophical question as opposed to an assistant coach question).

1) Dumb rule. I don't know any leagues that still do that.2) DeAngelo should play, but Knowshon isn't the worst start. Depends who your playing against and if you think you need a big time performance, or just a guy to get you 8pts.

5 minutes before kick off of that players game, no mater what time they play, they're locked immediately after kick off. We used to do it that way ( a few years ago), but we saw the light.

Thursday? Heck, our lineup of any players playing in a game is due the night before the game so I had to submit mine last night.

silly rule. players in my league lock 5 minutes before kickoff of that player's game no matter when they play. obviously you cannot insert them into a lineup if all starters at said position already played..

This, however, you cannot pick up any FA's or make trades after first game. This is our last reg season week so thats it for the season as well.

That's a sissy rule. In my league we have to submit the lineup for all 13 weeks in the preseason!

you guys still use paper and pencil to calculate who wins each week...?
i'm in a league where we still do everything by hand. We changed our lineup rule last year to thursday players due before the game, rest of the lineup is due before the sunday morning games. Waivers are done on thursday before kickoff.

cant that be adjusted in the offseason ? why would any league still do it that way ?
Technically it's the fairest way to do it, but it's just less headaches to alow any player to be changed in or out until their game starts.

Our final lineups are due Wednesday at 8pm on weeks with Thursday games and Friday at 8pm on normal weeks. Roster adjustments after that cost $2. I kind of like it...feels like the old days before you kids and your computers came around

1) We used to but came to our senses.

2) It depends on your own philosophy. And "Threads that are asking for advice on how you should draft or manage your team belong in The Assistant Coach forum."

I hear people say such & such rule is stupid, but really, if 12 people like a rule, more power to 'em, LOL. It's simply a matter of preference.

The very first time I played FF, it was a local league, & we had to turn lineups in by the first game of the week. While we #####ed about it, we liked it at the same time. You have to admit it's a challenge. And we really didn't know anything different.

Of course, nowdays, it's not very popular & I understand why. Still, that rule wouldn't keep me from playing in a league. You need to have a little more depth, for sure.
