In a redraft, I'd put him in the 2nd, but I'd also drop Alexander to his equal. First tier would just be LT and LJ. SA, Portis and Tiki would be tier two, then the rest looks about right.

In a PPR league Brian Westbrook is a top-10 back if healthy. With the injury discount, call him 3rd tier.

I just do not think you can put Portis into the First Tier, until he puts up a season in Washington that he did in Denver. I am one of his biggest supporters and I think when Sanders installs his scheme in Washington Portis could be an Elite back once again; however until that time I think he needs to stay 2nd tier.

Based upon how I think these RB's will finished in a standard scoring system.

Wow putting the Edge in the Second tier - Are you not worried about the Cards OL and the lack of surrounding talent (Peyton and company) hurting his numbers. Even last year with the Colts he was 2nd tier, so you think there will be no drop off in production?

So... no one thinks that there's a top-22 back in Denver this season?
Tell us who it is and I'm sure he can be added, whoever he is
Ron Dayne.Besides, last year, even Denver's SECOND RB was a top-22 back. Anderson finished 10th and Bell finished 22nd... so it wouldn't be a stretch to just pick a back and expect that, even if he doesn't win the starting job, he still might finish in the top 22.

Due to the nature of the Denver RB situation it is impossible to tell which RB will emerge at this time. I am way more comfortable drafting one of the other 22 listed than any of the Denver ones. That is why neither Dayne or Bell is llisted.

Portis=Alexander  Based on their past production with their current teams why would you view them as equals? (I'm not bashing your statement, just wondering what factors/scoring system you would base this opinion on.)

A lot of people seem to be hyping Portis this year and as I said in my post; I can not see Portis being in the top elite running backs. I would be interested how people justify ranking him in with LJ, LT, and SA also.

Crack addiction? ;) I can't give Portis up on that first tier until I see 1st tier numbers for more than one year in WASH. A good 2nd, maybe.

For the same reason I can';t drop SA down to second teir -- he's been 1st tier for some time - I'm not dropping him back until I see a reason to.

i agree. That first tier is all but guanteed! Though i would love to see portis get in there(redskins fan here). I think the biggest mystery for me will be edge. He COULD be big, conidering they have a passing game to help out the run. However, that OL is a big concern.

For a reason, how about losing one of the elite OG's in the NFL?Good OL + Saunders + better WRs (open space to run) IMO brings Portis to top 5, while SA drops just a little due to the question of how does Seattle replace Hutch. SA is #3, while Portis #4 or 5. So Alexander over Portis, but not enough to make him his own tier. I just won't put SA with LT/LJ with the question at OG.

Alexander could easily surprise, and be the #1 RB, but I won't project him to be. (Plus, that Madden cover)

Yes I am a little worried about their OL. Edge was a tough call. I came very close to putting him in the 3rd tier but he is just so much more proven than any of the other backs in the 3rd tier and that probably swayed my decision. He would definitely be the 6th overall RB if I was putting together a mock.

Exactly. In PPR Tiki Barber was the #1 RB in 2004 and the #4 RB in 2005 (Only 16 points from being #1 again), yet nobody has him in tier 1.

I really like Tiki in the PPR format (also Westbrook) but I do not think he scores enough to merit tier 1 rankings. In 2003 he only scored three TDs and ranked very low also this year the Giants are playing one of the NFL's toughest schedules this year.

Lighten up Francis.

Lots of people seem to be hard on DD. Injuries are certainly a concern but if you've got a solid backup that should be less of a concern. When healthy he is a top ten (fantasy) running back.

Shouldn't Reggie Bush be in the first tier as well? Most people have his bust for Canton already cast, so shouldn't we just pencil him in for 2000 yards & 20 tds this year?

There should not be 6 tiers for the first 22 RB's. 3 or 4 tiers max.

why not there could be 22 tiers if one thinks there are 22 differnent levels of rb. i personally had 7 tiers. to me the tiers = talent levelwhen i put together my overall ranking i doo it by tiers not by the player X over player Y. mine look like this for EXAMPLE:

RB1

RB2

RB3

WR1

RB4

TE1

WR2

for me this really helps later in the draft and for trading purposes.
