Tiger Woods (3 Viewers)

How does the world's #1 ranked golfer not be able to hit a driver?

He needs to see the shrink that helped John Smoltz get over his jitters back in the day. Smoltz went through a stretch where he couldn't throw a strike due to some mental block and the shrink helped him regain his form and confidence.

Either that or just hit 3 iron off every tee and be done with it.
Not sure why he doesn't just stick with the 3 wood like Phil

I cringed when he pulled out the driver on the par 5 in his first round of this tournament. I don't get it. You know you're not hitting it properly now. This isn't a driving range, it's a major. Hit your long woods or irons, then go home during the week and work on your driver at the range.

Jesus. A pro that can't hit a driver. That's pathetic. Jack would have destroyed Eldrick weekly if Woods had to use the clubs Jack played with.

On the courses that were shortet and Tiger having the advantage of his added length with his irons and ability to hit them as high as he does?

Now you know more about golf than (who you repeatedly call) the best in the world?

Nobody ever accused Tiger of being the brightest golfer...

Where did I say that? God this thread and several posters in it are awful.

I just don't understand it.

 I am pretty sure you don't get to be as good as Woods has been by not being really "golf smart."
Well, Mickelson wasn't "golf smart" when he pulled out a driver on the 18th with a one shot lead at the 2006 US Open, and missed the fairway...which he had been missing all day. Nobody has accused Phil of being the brightest golfer, but it doesn't mean he isn't world class.

I felt if he won 15 this year he would 4 in the next 2 years. 15 is clearly going to be the toughest in his march past 18.

He'll be the favorite again next year at the Masters. Where he hasn't won in 9 years. In 2005 you would have got amazing odds if you bet on that.

Tigerbets: John Bender = $500 when Tiger wins a major this year gbacm = $200 when Tiger wins a major this year zoonation = $200 when Tiger finishes ahead of Rory this year zoonation = $1k when Tiger breaks Jack's record I think one other maybe also with zoonation? Can't seem to find it in here...
Just those two for us. I may as well ship you the 200 for the Rory bet right now. He is lost. Tiger won't be breaking Jack's record.
If you're ready to ship the $200, do you want to ship direct to gbacm so I'm all evened up? If a hassle let me know.I'll offer the same action for next year to others -- I bet he wins one of the next for majors he plays in. Name a price.

GG Tiger, get em next year.
Happy to do that. What if Rory fires a 63 tomorrow and wins the tourney? Lol.
I'd be ecstatic. Accidentally double bet him at 35 to 1 for 20 bucks a pop.
He was giving us some hope after his first 4 holes, then disaster struck.

You have absolutely zero self-awareness.

Well its been FIVE years since tiger has won a major, he's good, but lets face it not great anymore

You do realize that link takes you to an article by Brian Murphy? He is a bigger Tiger fan than Otis, so take what he has to say with a grain of salt.
I see it as an abridged version of this thread without all the fail.

Yet you're taking Otis' and Finless' with a pound of gold. I would say nicely done, but you can't even pull that.

Aren't you the teenager? You could be a bottom 5 poster here. This "observation" doesn't upset me.

In Jack's career, he only went 5 years without a major one time - and then he won only one major after that hiatus.

I think his record is safe for the rest of his lifetime.

"He could easily be the type of player who is winning majors consistently into his mid-40s, given his historic work ethic and desire."

His historic work ethic and desire got him zero majors in his mid-30s, it's hard to believe he'll do it consistently into his mid-40s.

You're letting facts get in the way of perception.
No, the author of the article is a Tiger FanBoy so it must not be true. :kicksrock:
I understand he has to turn something in, but the writer is giving way too much credit to these people.

Yeah, he could just as easily win just a couple more at most. He was clearly on top of his game this year with his 5 minor wins. In the majors, its not like he was even in the mix at the end. He was only in consideration in 2 of them and even those he finished 5 shots behind. That's a pretty significant distance.
