He had the lead - after 10 holes. He lost by 3 strokes. That is a 4-stroke swing in 8 holes. If he did not choke under the pressure of playing with Molinari - what would you call it?You’re like wrongopedia.

People seem to forget this. This tourney was huge for him.Remember - January was his first competitive golf after spinal fusion.
Hey GB, I'll take the over 2.5 for $100 to the charity of the other guys choice.Using your numbers, we will set the O/U on 2.5 majors starting with the PGA this year and running through the end of 2022. That's 17 Major chances for Tiger. I will take UNDER 2.5 for.....$250? $100?
By the end of 2022? Chance for Hope....Hey GB, I'll take the over 2.5 for $100 to the charity of the other guys choice.
Do you count leading at the turn "In the hunt"?So, was he in the hunt, and choked? Or, not really in the hunt?
At the risk of getting my hands slapped....So, he was in the hunt
I believe the ridiculous argument of your was "Coming into todays round, he wasn't in the hunt"He had the lead - after 10 holes. He lost by 3 strokes. That is a 4-stroke swing in 8 holes. If he did not choke under the pressure of playing with Molinari - what would you call it?
Somebody hit the mimosas too early.
That works for me!
Virtually everyone said he was in complete control and looked great - he just didn’t close the deal. I’ve never been one to say he definitely he will, way too hard to win a major but he’s definitely back for someone his age and coming out of all those injuries and surgeries. Will be great for golf if he continues to be IN THE HUNT for the next few years. If he wins one it’s just great for him and would be a fantastic story. No shame in that effort. That lofted bunker shot was the old Tiger. Unreal. He just had to be a bit more crisp with his last couple driving irons into the wind, but everyone was missing to the right (23MPH, in your face and to the right). He would have been right there but he got too cute with that flop shot. Should have taken his medicine, leave himself with a 15 footer for par and take his chances.
I think you're smart enough to understand why people like Tiger. I don't really know anyone that will dispute he's no longer the best. I am certainly not under any such illusion.Molinari is just better than Tiger. Dozens of PGA golfers are. Nobody is scared of him. He's 42 and in steep decline. Drugs don't work forever and the sport is littered with phenoms now. Who did Tiger have to battle to be great? Phil? Duvall? Singh? Love III?
Golf is loaded - LOADED - with talent right now. From all corners of the world. The competition is incredible and it's only getting stronger.
Tiger will be a nice story here and there but the sun has set on him being a contender and that's okay. We all get old....just hope he is wiser now and doesn't drive under the influence again. Weird that he gets a pass on that. He could have killed somebody or himself. But.... TIGER!!!!!
I will slowly relate every sport to pro wrestling in this forum. Golf was actually pretty easy because of Tiger.
He was not in the hunt starting the day.I believe the ridiculous argument of your was "Coming into todays round, he wasn't in the hunt"
Keep moving your argument you're making yourself look ridiculous
Little early to write off a 24 year oldSpieth had the chance to be the next big draw for golf, but I think that window for mainstream superstardom has passed. He's nowhere near Tiger and probably never will be.
It is. But the world loves a hot take.Little early to write off a 24 year old
So you’ve changed your call yesterday from “not in the hunt” to “leading and will likely choke”?He had the lead - after 10 holes. He lost by 3 strokes. That is a 4-stroke swing in 8 holes. If he did not choke under the pressure of playing with Molinari - what would you call it?
Golf needs to work on cultivating more Tigers if they want more mainstream attention going to anyone not named Tiger Woods.![]()
I was wondering what the hell you were talking about when reading that, but now I get it. Awesome.
But a healthy, fit Tiger is good for golf. I'm not a Tiger fan per se, but I watched the Open this morning, something I haven't done in twenty years. (Maybe the sun was shining though my window, too...)
He wasn't in the hunt yesterday. So you’ve changed your call yesterday from “not in the hunt” to “leading and will likely choke”?
You can’t just change your call to the opposite after the game is over.
And I think you're smart enough to understand why some people don't like Tiger.I think you're smart enough to understand why people like Tiger. I don't really know anyone that will dispute he's no longer the best. I am certainly not under any such illusion.
But he's a draw. There's no other way to put it really. It's the reason the WWE continues trotting out Brock Lesnar and John Cena. They have surpassed the same threshold that Tiger did for golf, even when any close watcher of those respective products can name a dozen better performers nowadays.
Spieth had the chance to be the next big draw for golf, but I think that window for mainstream superstardom has passed. He's nowhere near Tiger and probably never will be.
He wasn't in the hunt yesterday.
A bunch of people fell back, and he was in the hunt today.
Then he choked.

Yes, let's cultivate more serial cheaters, drug users and drunk drivers! Hoooooray!!!!!Golf needs to work on cultivating more Tigers if they want more mainstream attention going to anyone not named Tiger Woods.
All sports do. I can't for one second blame the MLB commish for his comments about Mike Trout's personal brand; it would be great for baseball if the average schmoe knew about Trout.
Wow. I know about Trout. Didn't know this was an issue with him. He's -- along with Mookie this year -- the best in the game, it seems to me. But then again, I'm at footballguys so generally love sports.Golf needs to work on cultivating more Tigers if they want more mainstream attention going to anyone not named Tiger Woods.

Hey, I get it. Keeping up the mystique is part of the allure of the bet. Making people believe that Tiger can win a major again is great shtick. Seriously - top notch stuff.![]()
this is brutal
Tiger has played 12 tournaments this year and was Top 5 in three of them. He finished 6th today and finished 11th and 12th in two others. That’s 50% in the Top 12.Molinari is just better than Tiger. Dozens of PGA golfers are. Nobody is scared of him. He's 42 and in steep decline. Drugs don't work forever and the sport is littered with phenoms now. Who did Tiger have to battle to be great? Phil? Gotta be trolling. That or it started off serious and is morphing into trolling as part of an attempt to save face.Wow SF making a fool of himself in here. I can't decide if he is trolling or is serious.
Yes, those things really suck about Tiger. I agree.Yes, let's cultivate more serial cheaters, drug users and drunk drivers! Hoooooray!!!!!
HE WAS IN THE LEAD.Hey, I get it. Keeping up the mystique is part of the allure of the bet. Making people believe that Tiger can win a major again is great shtick. Seriously - top notch stuff.
Spot on.Seriously, the top 50? This season on OWGR events he has a 9, 23, MC, 12, 2, 5, plus whatever he finishes at the Masters, probably somewhere between 20 to 53. Not counting the FedEx playoff events (currently 44th) he has 7 or 8 events left. And 2 or 3 of those non major events are going to be at tracks he is very familiar with. He is good enough to stroll around those events and finish in the top 10.
IMO it's about a 0.01%* chance he doesn't crack the top 50 by year end, especially if at a minimum he plays 2 playoff events but my money is no later than the Monday after the British.
*Pending health
When was the last time he won? I'll take your answer off the air.Tiger has played 12 tournaments this year and was Top 5 in three of them. He finished 6th today and finished 11th and 12th in two others. That’s 50% in the Top 12.
Not sure how that makes him no longer a contender. He was too inconsistent and missed too many makeable putts this week. He was ahead heading into the back nine but made strategic mistakes on back to back holes and still was in the mix. He’s not going to win a major by ten strokes but he can be near the top and with some breaks could win.
Barring injury, Tiger will have top 5 odds to win the 2019 Masters...and may even be a value bet.
And what happened to golf without him?Yes, those things really suck about Tiger. I agree.
I'm pretty keen on knowing the numbers on golf's popularity without him.
To everything that I've read in the past 5 minutes, ratings tanked. And what happened to golf without him?
A lot of people found it boring and stopped watching. And what happened to golf without him?
I assume you mean under 0.5? Because if you're not willing to make an even money bet unless someone spots you TWO majors after all the #### talk...Using your numbers, we will set the O/U on 2.5 majors starting with the PGA this year and running through the end of 2022. That's 17 Major chances for Tiger. I will take UNDER 2.5 for.....$250? $100?
Dude, I'm just taking another guy's post and making a wager accordingly.I assume you mean under 0.5? Because if you're not willing to make an even money bet unless someone spots you TWO majors after all the #### talk...
