Splitting up with Lindsey Vonn was the best thing to happen to the guy. He needs to be be banging random hoors to be good on the fairways. Monogamy and a good golf game are not compatible. Banging hoors is a great for his career, ratings and his personal doctor.

the last thing he needs is more time away from competitive golf. more than anything else, he needs to build confidence in competition again.

Well, he isn't going to have many opportunities to do that this year. No way he plays the web.com+ circuit post fed-ex. This week is already a big pill I'd imagine.

Whether he is in contention to win this weekend is a hopeful footnote in the aspirations of the faithful.

However, the mere fact that people "hope" he is in contention or wins the who-cares-open so they can watch this thread explode says all you need to know about who was right and who was wrong. Him winning this event changes absolutely nothing about the narrative of this thread.

Any of you D.C. locals heading out to RTJ for the tourney?

I'm going tomorrow,figured I better catch Tiger on Friday because his chances of making the weekend are pretty slim.

I always go on Friday when it's at Congressional but RTJ is a bit too far out there for me. Cornhole one year from today at the 10th?

Had a blast today even though the field was pretty slim in terms of big names.We followed Tiger's group(Hass and Watney)for a good part of the morning and then tried to catch Fowler and a few others before calling it a day.Tiger actually looked pretty good today,had that strut going as putts were falling.The crowd was buzzing at how well Tiger did from about the 12th on.The course is just outstanding,beautiful walk with some really nice people.

Cornhole idea sounds great for next year!

Golf is a process. It's about confidence. It seems to ebb and flow like life. He isn't going to go from OWGR 251 or whatever to Top 10 overnight or maybe even in a year or two. He may drop further in the rankings before he improves; we don't know. But a Top 25, Top 10, Top 5 or Top 3 is still a step in the right direction when it happens. A win is even better. You might say it means nothing because of where he's been at the top of golf in the past. This isn't about "get back to me when he wins a major" right now. Lifelong golf fans, students of the game and those who have played and know how hard it can be know that. We don't come here to see a thread blow up after he gets a few birdies, throws a fist pump or wins a relatively minor tournament. We're here to talk about Tiger.

The trolls will say, "It's a ham & egger win." "It's only three wins in a year." "Yeah, so he was lucky enough to win his 15th Major but so-and-so choked for him to win." Tiger screwed up by making it all about majors. Majors are the yardstick but winning any PGA event is HUGE. Tiger just three behind Snead. Not moving the goalposts. Jack is clearly ahead of Tiger.

But all the great players nowadays win 1-2 times year. Tiger has 79 wins. It's insane. He had 8 in 35 tourneys in 2012-13. That right there is an incredible run.

He stats don't mean anything if they are worse than the crappy players he's playing with. If he's hitting 75% of his fairways, that may sound awesome. But if the field is averaging 85%, his 75% means nothing. It's not that complicated.
