Tiki Barber (1 Viewer)

Sirius NFL radio talking about Tiki announcing his return. 36 yrs old, 4 yrs removed.

I guess his new career didn't quite work out....

seeing this on twitter too. Reads as his agent filed papers with NFL to come out of retirement.

He was supposedly "just a 3rd down back" when he was drafted. I wonder if he couldn't fill that role now.

At age 31, Brian Westbrook had 77 carries for 340 yards and 16 catches for 150 yards.

He wasn't out of football for a few years like Tiki.

Lol. This guy is delusional if he thinks there will be much interest. 36 and 4 years out of the game? Sounds like not only did his media career not pan out, but his divorce may have wiped him out financially.

who would want him? NYG wont touch him I'm sure.Maybe TB would use him with Blount since Rhonde is there?
He is old.He is done. What's he gonna get us 2 or 3 yards per carry now?Let's draft a rookie.Rookie whifs on a block and gets QB "killed" in preseason game.Well, Tiki's not so bad. Maybe he could be our 3rd down back.

I'm honestly not one to see the joy in the failure of others, but Barber was such a pompous ##### during his last season in NY that I'm glad to see that he needs to resort to this. This may have only been heard by local people, but Barber wouldn't shut up about how he was going to be such a great *journalist* and he would be interviewing the cream of the crop...Presidential candidates, politicians, chief economists, leaders of industry, etc. Then he shows up and he's doing lighthearted junk on the Today Show before getting booted from there. Good luck on your comeback Tiki.

I know I said I wouldn't miss you

But now I'm saying I'm a fool

You're on the feel good side of leaving

And I'm the backside of a mule

'Cause I didn't know I needed you so

And letting you go was wrong

And baby I know you got your radio on

So this is my so sad come back song

I don't see any way he could possibly be so delusional enough as to think he'd have a shot at coming back? I mean, this has to be some sort of ploy for something, right? Like maybe if he can't find a team to sign him then he'd be able to file for unemployment or some crap? I don't know... It's just weird is all, he's got to be up to something OTHER than actually thinking he can make a comeback.

Yea, I remember that - he was supposed to have this all-world journalistic talent, and could write his own ticket, etc. I remember someone - I think it was Mike Francesa - saying how it's just not that easy to do, and Tiki seemed to be banking on something that wasn't there, etc. He was right. First time I saw Tiki in his new role, you could tell it just didn't click. He has zero camera charisma, and I'm pretty sure his bosses saw their mistake almost immediatly. He got pushed to the smallest of roles really fast.Dancing with the Stars isn't that far off for him.

After my rant, this was along what I thought of next. Maybe he thinks being an "active" player at the time of the (eventual) new CBA could lead to him receiving some sort of benefit in the future.

Couch Potato prognostication -- John Fox in Denver will take him.
To help him move?
Haha! No, I'm serious. Fox once coached him. CBuck and Maroney are out. I think Fox will at least bring him in and see what he has left. And Tiki will probably make the roster. Fox looooooves his old vets. I'm laughing my butt off as I type it, but I'm not kidding, I believe this could happen!

i was thinking the same thing. Like maybe he has some insider scoop into the new CBA and if he can somehow latch on with someone and stay rostered for X games, even if it's holding a clip board, then he gets a pension or medical or something along those lines.

Well as Jerry Seinfeld would say after Kramer would convince George or Elaine to join in on one of his schemes

"I'm sure this is going to end well"

Fox was DC though.Spags was DB coach IIRC so aren't they as likely?

Yet another ex-football player spends $ like he has his own printing press and ends up on loser street. Either the seminar on player finances is worthless or these guys have learning disabilities.

I just love that less then two years after retiring and him bad mouthing his team. Specifically his QB, they won a title.

Maybe fred mitchel will make a come back too.

With a young nucleus at the skill spots (Freeman, Blount, Williams, Benn) with 2 of those 4 already fighting their way back from the past, the last thing I want in the locker room is Tiki Barber.

"Hey guys, here's how you throw your coach and teammates under the bus"

"Hey guys, here's how you cheat on your pregnant girlfriend/wife"

Karma's a ##### Tiki & so are you.

This just in:

The Oakland Raiders sign free agent RBs Tiki Barber, Herschel Walker and Jim Brown.

OK, I'll play. Barber has the second highest career ypc for any player with 10,000 rushing yards behind Barry Sanders. Obviously he has not taken much abuse physically in the last few years (well, at least not on the field).

While rare, there have been a few RB at 35+ that were fantasy relevent (John Riggins, Marcus Allen, Emmitt Smith, and John Henry Johnson). (I realize those guys didn't sit out 4 years.)

Is it likely that Barber does anything? No. Is it possible? Crazier things have happened (although not many).

Where did it say that he spent money like that? All I get from the article is that the guy failed as a sports reporter, a TV host, and a husband, and he wanted to go back to the one thing in his life that he was successful at.

I'd bring him in to take a look. If he doesn't pan out he can be cut with no cost. Most players never have 'it'. With Tiki, we know he once had skills most players can only dream of. I doubt he still has anything left in the tank but why wouldn't you take a free look?

I have a feeling that whatever slight chances he has/had will be hurt by the perception that he's not a good locker room guy.

Plus, as a spare RB, wouldn't he likely need to do something on Special Teams?
