Tim Carter!? Tim Carter who? It was Tyree! (1 Viewer)

I can't find it now, but I read a thread where like 75% of us were thinking Amani Toomer going down meant big things for Tim Carter. What in the hell happened!? Did he even play last night????

They've been talking about Tim Carter around these parts for a few years. He's the kind of guy that will have a big game once in a blue moon, but that's about it. I'd look elsewhere for a more consistent option.

I posted a poll question on who everyone thought it would be early - Tim Carter talk seemed to take off from that.

I want to say though I specifically stated that my gut was telling me Tyree because he had the experience at the position.......It was my head that was the problem...... :bag:

It could have been worse, you could have started Devery Henderson
Yeah, I don't get the Saints Hederson shown last week that he got great seperation speed with two long catches for TDs, and this week he sits the bench for the A. Brooks of WRs, Copper. I say A. Brooks because when he messes up he just smiles like it's funny. The jack### cost us the game last night.

Carter was getting pushed around a lot in week 9, but Im surprised that it translated to no catches in week 10. Tyree is a gritty WR who is best as a 4th/5th WR (more of a special teams ace than a guy the Giants carry for his play at the WR position. Tyree doesnt provide the speed dimension that Carter does, but the Giants opted for the better blocker and physical WR this week. Carter was finally able to get an opportunity to start, and he was a flop. Looks like a 2nd round bust at this point for the Giants.

All i can think of when i hear Tyree's name called is Charlie Murphy in the Real World sketch on Dave Chapelle.

he wasn't even targeted. i'm not sure it's all his fault. Manning's progression last night were: Burress.....Burress.....Burress.....Tyree.

i agree. manning looked like a virgin in a rapist colony last night. if he couldn't get his first read, he threw it over someone elses head. i think charles tillman had more targets than Carter and Shockey combined.

I saw Tyree drop one or two that made me wish ill against him and his family.

So given how last night went, do you think THIS translates into trying to get Carter into the game more next week?

While the Giants were decimated with injuries coming in and then they lost Petigout, Madison and Tiki's hand, their coaching and play calling was terrible. The Giants were able to run even when the Bears had a NINE man front. When the Giants defense couldn't rotate anyone you would want to limit their time on teh field, one would think running would have been smarter? That was a mistake, but when your top targets are Plax who was not at full strength, I would think Carter (who was the #2 and played the entire game) would get at least ONE target??? I have no idea what the Giants were thinking. Carter can get open real well and is their most dangerous weapon to get deep; it was moronic not to throw a single ball his way. Tyree is mediocre at best and he had aboout 8 targets. The Giants defense wore down as the game went on, but between the bad play calling, no help when Petigout came out (how about giving Whitfield some help?) and the decision to kick a 53 yard FG, tehe Ginats deserved to lose. Oh, Elki had his worst game this year

I know that getting knocked off routes early was a problem for Carter in week 9 - anyone see if this was an issue this week? It could explain why he got no targets.

kev,

I should probably eat some crow here for Carter. I was on his coattails. Sorry if I swayed your opinion.

I didn't notice him. Granted it was a hard game to get my full attention with homelife stuff and Plax's odd number makes my head spin but I didn't even notice him lining up.

The week before Jennings was in the slot and did just fine. There's a guy that didn't even play football a few years ago. He was real fast and had some hands so they adopted him as project. He was cut a couple times(I think twice) and went to NFLE. He really gave an effort to develop himself. So I don't really know why they went with Tyree. In a Troy Brown sorta way it's easy to root for Tyree though.

It's pretty shocking that they've got two lightning fast highly capable backups in Moss and Carter and it's two other guys that produce in Jennings and Tyree.

i agree. the playcalling was HORRENDOUS. how about just running out the last 0:40 of the first half when they had the ball on 1st down on their own 40 with a couple timeouts? when Feely missed the 33 yarder, they had run the ball all the way down to the 15 and THEN started throwing. WTF?!?!? Eli looked positively TERRIBLE although once pettigout went down, he wasnt getting any protection. but its not like he didn't have time to target Shockey either. granted the guy has Crisco hands but he makes some plays.as for targeting Carter, Eli didn't have enough time to look deep. i don't think he threw more than 1 ball deep all day. but between Eli playing awful, the OL playing even worse, and coughlin calling plays like a btch, Carter not getting targets was really the LEAST of the NYG problems last night.and let me just say that if you were depending on Tim freaking Carter to win you your fantasy game this week, then you deserve to lose. the guy is a perennial under-acheiver. the fact that Tyree got more looks isn't surprising at all. he runs good routes and only had one bad drop on a 3rd down play.

eli never had time to look deep, so if they were deep routes, then it didn't matter. but Tyree has always been a better pure route runner. and he (tyree) and Eli had some solid chemistry when Eli first began starting games 2 years ago.

[hijack] What's going on with Moss these days? He just showed up on the WW in a dynasty league and I thought I might stash him. Is he going to be forever injured or does he have a future? [endjack]

the guy is always hurtI would think this offseason the Giants and/or his brother can get him hooked up with a good personal trainer+nutritionist so he gets himself together. He's a lightning quick little bugger that's gonna be hard to tackle.
