Tim Hightower vs Beanie Wells (1 Viewer)

They should build a lead and pound the ball. Is Wells the guy to own, could be a sneaky start this week. Hightower phased out?

I would have said Wells was the start over Hightower for sure until Wells coughed the ball up right when the Cardinals thought they got back in the game.

Start Wells.

Even if they wind up totally doing a 50/50 split it probably means around 15 carries for Beanie and maybe a catch or two vs. a terrible, terrible defense vs. runners. They're surrendering 186-ish total yards and over a TD a game to running backs. Even if Beanie only gets half of that yardage he's worth throwing in there on the chance he scores. I realize the Ravens have a far superior rushing attack, but look what Rice/McGahee did to them last week.

If Beanie winds up getting more of the work, due to situation/whatever, then great. Even in the split-share thing the Cards have had going lately he's still got an excellent chance for 80+ total yards and a touch(as does Hightower if the split is even enough) with the matchup.

I'd agree more with this if Hightower wasn't an equal/worse fumble machine. Beanie was ripping of huge chunks of yardage once they finally started giving him the ball last night. The fumble sucks, certainly, but he's just a better runner than Hightower is. You'd like to think Whis/Grimm can see that by now.As I mentioned above, even if the fumble ticks off Whisenhunt enough to keep the split at near 50/50 he's a great play due to the Lions matchup alone.

Did you see the hit? A torpedo hit helmet on football. Coaches look at the tape, it was not sloppy ball handling.Warner is the one I am worried about, he looked horrible.

Hightower's fumble was not exactly an unforced error. Don't get me wrong. I own both in my main league, and thought Wells had salted away the #1 job most of the game last night. I am not sure that is the case. I think they both score double figures in standard scoring this week.

In the post-game, Wiz specifically mentioned that it was a direct helmet shot on the ball. He followed that up with a half-hearted "we can't let that happen," but it seemed like an obvious implication that he felt it was more bad luck than a deficiency on Wells' part.

Wells HAD the damned job. All excuses aside, why does he have one hand on the ball when safeties/defenders are flying his way? CMon, Beanie...

That said, he looked great last night. I think regardless, this is a better matchup for Wells. This will hopefully be a pissed off Arizona team that will come out with a few haymakers to the face. From that point on, I think they'll try to get Beanie going as the main option.

In one of my leagues, I'm the low man on the playoff totem poll in 6th slot out of 6 teams. So I get first crack at any pickups... great news, right?

Not so much.

A team that got bounced pre-playoffs dumped his entire roster onto the wire in my league post-waiver run.

The 2nd seed picked up the newly abandoned Beanie Wells and is starting him against me this week.

Now I'll have to hope that this "pissed off" Cardinals squad is as steamed as the Steelers were last week against the Browns.

:goodposting: I agree! MOST backs take that kinda hit (helmet to helmet OR helmet to ball) and there going to cough up the ball! I say A LOT of Beanie early in this game and when it gets nasty(score) then there will be more of a split! BOTH RBs worth a start at a Flex position(and I'd say Beanie as a RB2 this week).

IMO, that's a HUGE problem with your league. Roster dumps by non-playoff teams is ridiculous.

I dont see the Cards running away with this one. Wells might get the most carries, but 80 yds and maybe a TD would be the max IMO.

is anyone starting Hightower in a PPR league with confidence? Homers know how badly he's in the doghouse? I love the matchup, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Wells get almost all the work. My other options are Santana Moss, Olsen, and Avery :goodposting:
