Cousin Jon ran Boston today, personal best (sub 3:30). He heard the explosions from a block away in the shower.
20.22 - Sabotaging the Student Election scene in Election - Classroom Scene
Fixed -- I'm getting ready to drop pick 21.0521.03 - Death Proof - car chase
Hmmm. Was going to take this for space even though not much takes place in space. Anyway, one of my favorite movies.20.11 The Iron Giant -- Superhero
Re-re-fixed, I assume. It's what I had asked for, and I'm in the 06 position...Fixed -- I'm getting ready to drop pick 21.0521.06 - Death Proof - car chase![]()
i think this is Val's pick. Should be 21.621.05 - Death Proof - car chase
Guess I will be moving Sarah Connor out of here then.I will judge parent. Sorry but I want the parent to be a "good" parent. The reason is because that's what was implied at the start of the draft, and if we allow bad parents now it's unfair to those who have already drafted.
I still think Sarah Connor was a good parent. Just had...extraordinary circumstances.Guess I will be moving Sarah Connor out of here then.I will judge parent. If you want Ward Cleaver types then Sarah is not your man
Never thought of using this for Superhero..but I LOVE IT!20.11 The Iron Giant -- Superhero
Cool. I assume I owe 2 picks now?No one said for sure so I'll make the call. Clock officially off. KP asked for a reduced clock so he will get skipped. Timmy is up with no clock. If he picks, Tish is up. Business as usual after that. :gavel:
Ha, nearly took this with my earlier pick in order to get the monologue (about the breakups) and block someone from having it as their R&R movie! Nice one!19.23 High Fidelity - Rock n Roll Movie

Director Clint Eastwood subverts decades of sports-movie convention with this scene, yanking the movie into an entirely different direction and resolution than what the audience was expecting. There could have been the Triumphant Ending, in which Maggie wins the title and all loose ends are wrapped up in the victory. It could have been the Dignified Loss Ending, in which the Blue Bear wins over a Maggie that left it all in the ring, with sundry built-in life lessons for the audience.Need some opinions from the house -- my Shocking Scene pick is from a nine-year old movie, but the scene is a pretty significant twist in the plot. I'm not sure if the scene is universally known, or if posting it will spoil the movie for some people. I'll post the specifics of the scene in a spoiler box, and let the house indicate whether or not the description can be "unspoilered".
21.05: Million Dollar Baby (Shocking Scene)
Maggie Fitzgerald (Hillary Swank) is fighting for the WBA women's boxing welterweight title against Billie "The Blue Bear". At the end of a round in which Maggie has come to dominate the fight, Billie sucker-punches Maggie from behind. Maggie's trainer, Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) had already placed Maggie's stool in the corner for between-rounds tending.
I disagree. I regard Sarah as a strong parent. It's up to you, though.Guess I will be moving Sarah Connor out of here then.I will judge parent. Sorry but I want the parent to be a "good" parent. I couldn't decide how this would rate as a Rock n Roll movie - at the beginning of the draft I had it as a possibility for the romantic gesture category - Rob finally makes a tape for Laura of things she likes to listen to.Ha, nearly took this with my earlier pick in order to get the monologue (about the breakups) and block someone from having it as their R&R movie! Nice one!19.23 High Fidelity - Rock n Roll Movie

Really like these picks today - either on the short list for possibilities today, or at the top of my list for a category I drafted from.20.22 - Election - Classroom Scene
