timdraft #4: Movie Category Draft (2 Viewers)

Those judging full movies, or scenes, wanting to re-watch the full movie before judging would appreciate if this didn't turn out like normally in timdrafts. The slower pace allow you to watch over a longer period of time. I know I appreciate that.

If you decide to rush through it, as is usually the case, you will either get judging without watching, or wait a while.

Just my $0.02
I dont mind continuing but you know who seems to make these decisions quickly when half the drafters are skips

yup, I know...

Not like we are rushing to finish before first pitch... one would think.

The EU has a wise perspective here.

I vote we continue the slow roll. No rush, and is anyone way, way behind in owed picks? I haven't seen anybody getting 10 picks behind, so let's stick with the normal clock.

:2cents:

FULL DISCLOSURE - I haven't read 1/10th of this draft, so I could be wrong on every factual point I just made.

22.12 School of Rock - "Step Off" - Classroom Scene

I can't seem to find video of this whole scene where he crafts a rock song from the students' suggestions, but this

i was watching it the other night. Thought I could snag it later since most think jack black movies suck

Like this a lot. Thought about it for a while but was conflicted because he was absent from his life for a while. But my own dad was a lot like Furious. Lot to appreciate about it, lot to hate about it.

I got lectures

pretty often. Not nearly as good, though.

OOOOH child, things are gonna get easier, OOOOH child things are gonna get brighter....

Dam ... classroom scenes are going like hotcakes. Better play my back-pocket ace:

22.21:

( :D ) ... but the power of the scene is easy to divine even if the language is unfamiliar.EDIT: Grrrr ... the Italian clip isn't quite the full scene either -- it cuts off where Marcus tells Gies that she's his hero. Luckily, her inspirational response is given (in English) in the first link.

22.10 - Roadhouse - Fight Scene

the one right after the buxom blonde dances. Jimmy fights the bouncers, then Wade, the Dalton (briefly). I'll look for a kink

Was he absent completely though? Been a bit since I watched it, but got the impression they had split custody, but mom had him more. Tre got out of hand, so went to his dad. There was even a conversation in the car thst eluded to the fact that furious had been wanting tre. Regardless, love that character.

22.11 Capsules vs. Clowns, Akira -- Car Chase

Well, judge criteria is doing me no favors here. But it is what it is. Akira was one of my favorite movies when I was like, 15. The movie as a whole might not hold up well as an adult but there are few scenes as iconic, and generally cool, as its opener. I mean even dogs realize how great it was. So we'll see.

Too many good movies...

22.23 -

There are about 15 fight scenes I have to choose from. I like the slo-mo aspect and the rawness of this one.

Sherlock Holmes: [voice-over] Head cocked to the left, partial deafness in ear: first point of attack. Two: throat; paralyze vocal chords, stop scream. Three: got to be a heavy drinker, floating rib to the liver. Four: finally, drag in left leg, fist to patella. Summary prognosis: unconscious in ninety seconds, martial efficacy quarter of an hour at best. Full faculty recovery: unlikely.

23.04 - A Separation - Courtroom Scene

The opening scene where Simin files for divorcehttp://dinuguan.tumblr.com/post/16748610647/the-opening-scene-from-a-separation-already-this

Was pretty happy to randomly find a video of the scene on tumblr. Anyway, though I'm not sure how well it will score since it doesn't take place in an American courtroom, I thought the scene (and the entire film really) was outstanding and I'm left assuming very realistic of how an Iranian divorce trial would go.

, the opening 4 minute courtroom scene sets the entire story for the film, and the next 100 minutes pretty well simply further explains the first scene.

23.05: Spencer Tracy as Stanley Banks in 1950's Father of the Bride (Best Movie Parent)

Fathers of daughters can always relate to the bemused Stanley Banks, who deals with both the loss of "his little girl" and the loss of his sanity in the face of the mounting wedding bills.

The link is to the Turner Classic Movies page for this movie. Apologies for having to sit through the 30-second commercials. There are several links to other clips over at the right.

Here's Patty McCormack in The Bad Seed:

It's a very cheesy movie but she does a fine job as a little psychopath. Always fun to watch!
