timdraft #4: Movie Category Draft (4 Viewers)

23.25 -

, Car ChaseCrazy car chase from the movie Wanted. Love it when she hangs out of the driver side door upside down.

24.01 - Kids see the Russian Invasion for the 1st time in Red Dawn, Classroom scene

I'm talking about the original here, folks. Kids in class, bored. Teacher is talking about the Mongol Invasion while Mother Russia is invading outside their classroom.

24.06 Pi - No Idea What This Movie is About

Ok I have some idea what this movie is about - but I suck at math. I really liked this movie a lot, but "WTF?" went through my head quite often.

Not sure how this one will score, and I am still trying to find a decent link to the full scene. Very polarizing movie it seems, but easily one of my top 2 or 3 from the last few years of releases. Not the high speed action that some of the others in the category are, but absolutely LOVE the way the opening of this movie is shot and the way the tension is silently built - basically I am taking the scene from when he picks up the robbers to when he arrives at the parking lot:

23.10:

(car chase)Link provided cuts off on the bridge, but there is a little more after that.

I'd like to thank the New York Department of Education for funding our scoreboard operator.

I work in the suburbs
Well, GB all those taxpayers who are paying $20-30K a year in property taxes then.
believe it or not, most parents appreciate my showing movies during the tests. Kids are stressed out enough.
Right, right, right...yesterday they started the State wide regents exams, correct?

(preschool and private G&T - bit oblivious)

Went to my first PTA meeting at our new school last night. In the middle of the budget review by the Treasurer, somebody asked why the Benefit Concert fundraiser by Louis CK (parent of two kids at the school) wasn't in the income or cash flow statements.

"Oh, he just stopped by this morning with the check"

"How much did we net?"

"$103,000"

:jawdrop:

Not that we are in any huge rush, but what I thought might be a decent idea for a clean cut off: Keep up with the timer during the week, which will probably get us to round 28 or so and then maybe do a one-a-day pick on the weekend so all the picks are in on Sunday. That way judges can start getting yelled at posting scores next week. Just an idea, but I will admit that I am far behind for judging, and don't even know which category to begin with.

sorry - got caught up in a work project

24.07 -

- scene that scared me as a kid (original Godzilla film / Gojira)Every kid growing up in the 70's loved Godzilla, which was a Saturday afternoon staple. You could count on a Godzilla movie every month.

But the first Godzilla movie, he was not the "lovable lug" who fought other monsters. The first Godzilla movie was somber, and very tense. A very far cry from the usual "Look, Godzilla's here to save us" that followed.

And Godzilla dies in the first movie. Some scientists invents an oxygen... thingee that reduces him to bones. The video linked is more about the scientist, but it does show the death scene at the end (the eye-patch guy dies with Godzilla, making the scene scarier).

This scene still makes me uncomfortable.

24.9 Spoorloos (The Vanishing) - final scene - shocking scene

Will post more when not on phone, but do NOT watch this scene if you haven't seen the whole movie.

If shortening the name please use Spoorloos. I don't want any confusion over whether I took the fantastic Dutch film or the crappy Anerican remake.

I took Saw as a shocking scene. Here is the best I can find. Dont watch it if you havent seen it. Major spoiler

24.11 T-Rex appears, Jurassic Park -- Scared As a Child

I was five. Scared ####less.

Other terrifying JP moments: raptors in the kitchen. Raptors in the power shed. Raptors in the jungle. Raptors feeding. Raptors in general.

24.12 Julia Roberts - Erin Brokovich - Real or Historical person

She won all the awards for this one.

In a category dominated by men I wanted to secure one of the better female roles. Still a couple of good ones out there.

23.16 Poltergeist - scene that scared me as a kid. I'll pick a scene later
very surprised this is still here. If I had not take wonka, this was my next choice.
It is pg, but it is more of a horror movie than oyhers picked.
Yeah, that's why I kept passing, but couldn't pass any longerI'm thinking the clown under the bed scene. Haven't found it yet

I don't have all the movies either BUT want to watch them. Please don't rush judges like normal. It will get done. And of course Tim will be first done about a half hour after the last pick
