Time for the "Sharkies"...end of year awards. (1 Viewer)

We need to start handing out imaginary awards for an imaginary world, lots of categories and MOP is not going to be the only person handing them out as many of you will surely come up with better awards. but I thought we would start here with something not just FF slanted but overall NFL caliber.

When I think of game of the year, many come to mind. I think of a couple games actually involving the Browns but the missing element for me is that they were never playing for anything against Detroit or Kansas City...didn't make the games worth any less but they were fun games ot watch. OK, my 1st entry or suggestion and we will try and trim it to about 5 games then make a poll and vote, but one that comes to mind is the Pitt/GB game this past weekend.

Pittsburgh 37...Green Bay 36. It had everything in it especially if you like a passing game. Big Ben eclipses 500 yds, Aaron Rodgers dumps in about 50 for FF owners and it was fireworks all day in one of the longest fottball games of the year it seemed. Teams were winding down the 1st half and these two storied franchises had just started the 2nd quarter. There was disputable calls, funny HC decisions, and a QB in Big Ben that just seems to rise to whatever the situation is, be it the Super Bowl or this game, he's not perfect but I really enjoy watching him compete.

Some others that might make the short list would be the NE/Indy game perhaps, the Miami/Indy game much earlier in the season on MNF was an incrdible game even though I am a Phinsfan. What games would you all like to see on a year end list for besat game of the year?

And yes, we're calling it the "Sharkies" unless you got a better name.

I'm sure it won't make a lot of lists and understandably so but I really enjoyed the week 14 game between the Arizona Cardinals and my S.F. 49ers which they won 24-9. We thank the Cards for the 7 turnovers they committed but San Fran's defense were all over them that week and while this year has been disapponting for the Niners it is one of several games I thoroughly enjoyed this year. I guess I'd still have to give the #1 spot so far to the Green Bay/ Pittsburgh game yesterday. Probably won't mean much unless they make the playoffs but the Dallas/New Orleans game on Saturday was a good one. Handed the Saints their first loss.

Best games I recall from each week

Week 1: Pittsburgh over Tennessee 13-10 in OT on Thursday night season opener, Denver 12-7 over Cincinnati on Brandon Stokley "Franco Harris" play, New England comeback over Buffalo 25-24 in Brady's return.

Week 2: NY Jets stun New England 16-9, Baltimore beats San Diego 31-26 on Ray Lewis stop, NY Giants knock off Dallas 33-31 in opening of new Cowboys stadium, Indy knocks off Miami 27-23 despite 3:1 edge in time of possession for Miami.

Week 3: Minnesota wins on final throw 27-24 to Greg Lewis over San Francisco*, Detroit gets 1st win over Washington 19-14.

Week 4: Minnesota beats Green Bay 30-23 in Favre's retun to Lambeau.

Week 5: Cincinnati knocks off Baltimore 26-20 on late Caldwell TD, Dallas beats KC 26-20 in OT in Miles Austin's coming out party, Denver's Josh McDaniels knocks off Bill Belicheck and the Patriots 20-17 in OT, Jets beat Dolphins on MNF 31-27 in Braylon Edwards' debut.

Week 6: New England lays a thumping on the Titans 59-0 in the snow, Minnesota knocks off Baltimore 33-31 when Hauschka misses at end of game.

Week 7: New Orleans comes back to beat Miami 46-34.

Week 8: Minnesota pulls away from Green Bay late to win 38-26 with 7 passing TD's between Favre and Rodgers, Indy comes back to beat San Francisco 18-14.

Week 9: ???

Week 10: Indianapolis 35, New England 34 on Belicheck 4th down mishap.*

Week 11: Detroit knocks off Cleveland 38-37 on Stafford TD after re-entering game with shoulder injury.

Week 12: Baltimore comes backs to beat Pitsburgh on SNF with Dennis Dixon in overtime game 20-17.

Week 13: Miami beats New England 22-21.

Week 14: Philly beats Giants 45-38 in wild shootout.

Week 15: Pittsburgh over Green Bay 37-36*, San Diego over Cincinnati 27-24, Indy over Jacksonille 35-31.

I noted my 3 favorites with asterisks...hope this helps to generate some good discussion and perhaps more games I didn't include!
