Time To Downgrade Shaun Alexander (1 Viewer)

I heard on NFL Radio today that Pork Chop's injury is worse than previously thought and that the project starting Left Guard is rookie Rob Sims. They went on to say that Shaun's production will be negatively impacted. Then infamous Peter King chimed in to say something like his yardage will decrease from 1900 yards to 1400 yards.

Come on, how much difference can one guard make. :sarcasm:

If Womack is down you should expect last year's first rounder C Chris Spencer to step in an play. Spencer started last week in Womack's place.

Credit needs to be given the Seattle front office for keeping a large supply of talent in the trenches. They'll be fine.

Thinking about it - is there a top 10 back left that has no questions at all?

(in no particular order of preference)

LT2 - Rivers

LJ - Herm/Oline/New system

Portis - ouchies

Tiki - age/Jacobs the TD hawk

Edge - Oline/Passing offence

Rudi - Palmer/limited upside

LJordan - Aaron Brooks/newcoach/did I mention Aaron Brooks?

Jackson - new offence

R. Brown - can he carry the year-long load?

(feel free to add Caddy and Westy as just outside and facing injury concerns)

Revisit your list please....Tiki's situation has not changed. Jacobs was a vultur last year and all RBs have aged about 9 months. Tiki wasn't old last year and showed no signs of aging last year. He got better as the year went on and finished with two 200 yard rushing games in the last 3 weeks of the season. Do you honestly think 9 months is gonna all the sudden turn Tiki into an old man?Tiki is really the only RB on your list that is in the exact same situation as last season. Everyone else is dealing with lost lineman, new QBs, new coaches, injuries, etc.

There's a good reason to bump him up, then. Peter's a good football writer, but his fantasy predictions should have a Surgeon General's warning attached.

I would have been mildly surprised if Womack would have held off Spencer by the first game in the regular season. Spencer is a quality C/OG.

I don't think this hurts Alexander at all.

Knock Peter King down a couple spots on the respected/or not so respected "football experts" out there.

ok - NoFBinLA - you are downgrading Steven Jackson because his head coach will run the ball MORE?

Just a guard right? People often talk about the "outrageous" sum of money MIN threw at Hutch. What's typically left out of the conversation is that not only was SEA willing match this "ridiculous" contract, but they were also willing to go to arbitration to hang on to this guy. He'll be missed...

I believe that I saw an article in the Seattle Times that Spencer has been playing Center due to an injury to Tobeck. Simms was considered the stand in for Pork Chop. I'm not sure how Ashworth fits into this equation, but the Hawks do have depth on the OL.

Sorry that I didn't provide a link. I have had a tough day and am too lazy to relocate the article.

Wrong. Martin's O-line/QB/WR were significantly worse/different 9 months later. Martin has a lot more mileage than Tiki and he was 32 years/4 months when last season kicked off. Tiki will be 31 years/4 months old when this season starts and while that's only a year, it makes all the difference in this conversation.

Huh? "The specific terms in the Vikings' offer called for Hutchinson to be the highest-paid offensive lineman on the team from the time he signed the offer sheet, March 12, to the end of the 2006 season, said Richard Berthelsen, the NFLPA's general counsel. The total deal is for seven years at $49 million, with a salary cap number of $13 million in 2006, and all of it was to be guaranteed if the condition was not met." Seattle was absolutely prepared to match the contract until the arbiter ruled that this bogus condition was allowed to remain in the contract. No one is gonna pay $49 mil guaranteed. No one.

:goodposting: Also revisit and revise LT2. You people must have short term memory. Other than the last 2 seasons Brees has been awful and Tomlinson produced in spite of him. Sometimes ELITE BACKS produce in spite of (not b/c of) the pieces around them... He'll be fine with Rivers. It's not like he's the only weapon on that team that defenses need to focus on anywayz.

Pork Chop missing a few games means 500 less rushing yards. Wow.I have not read or seen anything on Prok Chop's injury being worse that originally thought, so I 'll hold judgment until I see something other than two guys jawing on the radio.
