I'll name a college and an NFL team, you name the best player in NFL history to play for that college and that pro team.

Example: Cal / Tampa Bay

Answer: Hardy Nickerson

Ground rules: there's a bit of gray area here, but I'm intending only to count players who are primarily associated with a particular team. For example, if I say Oklahoma State / Miami, I'm not looking for Thurman Thomas. (There really is no answer for that one, as no notable OSU Cowboys who played primarily for Miami). Also, I'm only counting the last college a guy went to. So if I say Oklahoma/Dallas, I'm not looking for Troy Aikman.

OK, here goes. I could be wrong on a few of these, but I think there won't be any debate about who the best player from this combo is. All of the answers are players who made pro bowls. No obscure guys.

As always, cheating is allowed for verification. But let non-cheaters guess it before you reveal illegally-obtained answers:

Stanford / Atlanta

Boston College / Buffalo

West Virginia / Buffalo

Texas / Chicago

Alabama / Cleveland

UNC / Colts

Michigan / Cardinals

Maryland / Dallas

Stanford / Dallas

Minnesota / Denver

Ohio State / Denver

Virginia / Detroit

Illinois / Green Bay

Alabama / Kansas City

Purdue / Miami

Arizona State / Minnesota

Georgia Tech / New Orleans

Alabama / New England

Florida State / Raiders

Arkansas / San Diego

Nebraska / San Francisco

Syracuse / Redskins

Who made you the judge to determine who is the best? lol. I mean isn't this a little subjective? Ill steal your game and play myself. :blackdot:

Kent St/Pittsburgh

Jack Lambert

YSU/Philly

Ron Jaworski

Stanford/Denver

John Elway

Good work, all.

I think the only outstanding ones are:

Stanford / Dallas

Illinois / Green Bay

UNC / Colts

One of them is active. One is a Hall of Famer. The other is a 3-time pro bowler, but was (I think) generally considered the second-best player on his team at his position.

Tony Hill? The clue above helped out a whole lot on that one.
Yep, he's the guy. After I typed that, I had doubts. Was Pearson generally believed to be better than Hill at the time? I thought so, but I was 10 years old. Looking at their numbers (Hill - Pearson), their careers didn't overlap as much as I thought. Both made three pro bowls, but all of Pearson's came before Hill really hit the scene. Hill had better numbers when they were both starting.

It depends how what you mean by "generally believed." My family full of Cowboys fans when I was a kid thought Pearson was better and Tony Hill was a bum. No amount of objective evidence would convince them otherwise. That was the source of one of the few huge arguments between my father and I (Jerry Jones' purchase of the Cowboys being a source of another). Out there in the wide world, people may have thought Hill was better.
