Titans 2018 (1 Viewer)

Only 8:40 a.m. and already mentions that the attendance is fantastic for offseason workouts.

Maybe it's just me, but I like that the parking lot pics show lots of trucks and very few fancy cars

Kamar Aiken signed his tender this morning and will report so he can't be had for a 2nd anymore.

I have read that commentators are hinting at a tier break right around where the Titans sit now (14-15-18 have all been mentioned), and that the next 30 guys or so are similar in value - I think one Scout had the tier from 18 to 72 even. Assuming that is right the Titans may move up a bit from 15 for their guy (whoever that may be), and it becomes less likely they move up from 33 - unless they want that 5th year option. Not sure that they want to spend any of the top three round picks on such moves, you'd probably want to draft as many in the tier as you can

What are thoughts on David Cobb?  Kind of a milquetoast rookie season.  Is he worth getting for potential handcuff value to Demarco?

I have a feeling Demarco puts up 1300+ total yards this season.  Almost a lock for 40-50 catches.

Not in my opinion

Which part?  The handcuff value for Cobb or the 40-50 catches for Murray?
I thought he'd get cut last summer. I think he'll get cut this summer.

He's the only back that doesn't know another position or role. His blocking stinks.

We went through a weird period where people spoke of him like he was a 1st round pick last year, he was a fifth round pick. Very odd how highly people spoke of him-doesn't at all fit a fifth rounder.

Hoping Robinson is already talking to Josh Norman's agent
Titans were one of the first to inquire. I knew this last night and was told to shush. Glad it came out today.

Have they ever been one of the first to inquire about a player? Ever been 'excited' to spend a lot on a player?

Welcome Jon Robinson, welcome. I am sooooo liking this guy

I'm still stuck on a couple points. Myles Jack totally looks like he could do the Polamalu role to me. He is also the player I think makes the most sense(other than any lineman) for the Jags. Then my thought go to there's two QBs being taken, they could just get Ramsey and...I don't want them to get either! I love these two, love em!

Derrick Henry too. Before the Murray trade, he was their supposed pick, watched a lot. He's no mid to late second pick IMO. I think he's late first early second so if he falls and they've got extra picks...they still won't do it because of other needs but yeah I kind of fell for Henry.

The Giants have taken a tackle two of the last three years and a persistent rumor is a trade with the Titans concerning another. This rumor has something to it. People are even including it in mocks. Usually the Titans moving up to get Stanley but sometimes the Giants drafting a T. As we get closer, I'm a bit leery of these tackles after the first two. I don't (ever) want a lineman that triggers "can't handle elite passrush" writings. No, just no. Parcells used to use a term "street fighter" which Gibbs and Cowher liked, yes do that! 5th round? Get someone that'll die trying and fight then. Do not draft a guy that triggers people to write that. JJ Watt does not get a christmas present in April.

Cosell's description of Conklin sounds just like Poutasi....and Bell..and Spain who played T in college. I don't think I want him now but it is scary familiar.

Pats Titans trades are in mocks now. I've been saying that for a while. With two seconds and no first, they gotta inquire with their former worker. Still chatter, rumor, not actual concrete anything.

I don't like how all this WR talk has come up, sometimes drafting two. I totally understand the underperformers but then move them. Don't keep them around. Then I'll embrace the new WRs, sure. If they draft two and keep Hunter and Wright, geesh that'll be the best WR corps on paper ever for this team. All 1sts and 2nds. Remember when they usually drafted one in the third? What a change.

When sites do 7 round mocks they always have the Titans drafting OLB, twice. Why? They drafted one last year, have two UDFAs that did well, AND signed a couple. What more do you want behind two solid starters? Sometimes it's a BPA thing. I'd rather a blind "who is the next BPA on the DL or OL" than that. BUT 3? 2? years ago I go back to my original thought- Derrick Morgan can be a 3-4 DE. I really think he can handle it. He was a very good 4-3 DE. I've never seen this part of his game that made it so obvious so definite that he must switch to OLB in a 3-4. I would be an old man doing cartwheels in the street if they draft an OLB and move him back to DE. I really like him opposite Casey.

I don't like this style of moving and adjusting and all when there are clear holes in the roster that need to be filled. I really just want them to fill them. I'm more hopeful of improving positions next year. This year it almost feels ignorant.

My hope for the draft is simple. It's to stop making it so easy to run up the middle on the Titans D and to get to the QB on the right side of the OL. I think they're eons better if they solve those two issues. They might even look like a complete team if the others are well coached. Third I guess is to stop WRs for a change, at least make em' work to get the ball.

Don't forget Mercilus. I went half a game thinking they moved a LB to the interior DL. Other teams copied the Texans and did this too-Jags and Colts. If Jones can handle it, OK then that's solved but otherwise I don't want a LB up the gut being easy ever again. That just looks brutal. Mercilus is a blessing for the Texans as Clowney struggles, but Clowney is the reason the Titans ought to expect this. We all thought they'd have a fierce pass rush when they added Clowney opposite Watt. That those two can move around the OL at will and choose to rush the Titans inside...that's considerable. It's gotta kill morale too. Please sign whomever to make that stop.

They gotta get to where it's an 11 on 11 chess match not the opponent steam rolling weakness

Norman hired a new agent now

PK tweeted Titans are out of Josh Norman "race"...guess we'll be told how good McCourty is again

Bucs are still claiming to want Verner yet mocks and articles have them going CB in draft. Since that doesn't make sense, I'm guessing they are looking for too much trade value for a CB they benched last year. He's still the easiest plug N play guy on the market IMO

Talked with a legend

Among the Titans reps who met with Byard was defensive coordinator **** LeBeau, a member of the  Pro Football Hall of Fame as a player. LeBeau has coached in the league for more than 40 years and created the zone blitz defense. His best days were arguably with the Steelers, who Byard grew up rooting for.

"I grew up watching Troy Polamalu, Joey Porter and the Steelers," Byard said. "He told me I was one of the best interviews he's had."

Titans in pursuit

Byard said he worked out for Titans coach Mike Mularkey, general manager Jon Robinson and others on Thursday. The Titans had several scouts at Byard's pro day and, according to NFL.com's Gil Brandt, is one of the top teams in pursuit.

Jackson Jeffcoat was cut by Redskins and picked up by Horton/Browns.

He makes 5-600k, was a former Big 12 DPOY, his dad was a quality player and now coach...why is that NOT what they are claiming on the WW?

Every team will undoubtedly lose bundles of $ as 80-90 players enter camp and 53 exit. Top 51 count against cap, he's probably not counting.

As a DE, the draft stuff was can't stop the run (but DPOY?) yet very good pass rusher.

Against all the Big 12 linemen that have entered the NFL lately?

Only backup caliber at OLB for Redskins but...rushes the passer well. Teams target him on run plays...OK OK

So there's the positive and negative.

The risk is so minimal. Lebeau has done better with worse. Any chance his dad wants to come by and help him improve his run defense?

Last year they claimed Bass and...who else on the WW? (For an OLB that also supposedly couldn't stop the run, he did pretty great filling in.)

They gotta use the WW. It's a gift to be at the #1 spot.

BTW, I'd be fine with them claiming every former first rounder too. Easley had an attitude prob so they didn't but...if he got cut 3 days later, I wouldn't care. Take a look at a wealth of talent and see. I'm really hoping Robinson uses the WW this year. Webster barely did

Jason Wolf tweeted that Tunsil was having lunch with Mularkey when the trade happened.

So much for Robinson and Mularkey being on the same page

In tat case I can understand he feels a bit 'slighted'
(Time will tell but my guess is they should have taken Tunsil) Funny though, if Mularkey and he hit it off so well, Mularkey got burned a second time

Well no not necessarily, 3 Ts were taken. That could have been the same at 15. The Browns seemed to want a WR. One would have likely fallen to them, they just were anxious for Conklin. I think that second and third were gifts. I'm very annoyed about it.

Not one draft site, draft reviewer type said any words that could be expressed as Conklin+2nd+3rd=Tunsil.

Robinson is awful risky doing that with his first pick. I always appreciate a team coveting someone and going after them so, I guess I'm waiting for that feeling to start. Right now I'm annoyed with the 2nd and 3rd

Titans essentially traded the #1, #113, and #177 for Conklin, #43, #45, and the Rams 2017 1st.

Massive overpayment to move back up, reminding that TEN is 1-2 in trades this offseason given the Murray fiasco.

I spoke to someone last night. He says they were certain Lewan was their guy when Robinson and Matthews were supposedly better and this was super similar. Conklin is lesser athlete but still a top athlete(for a T) and they're certain he'll be better than Tunsil and Stanley.

I was also told Robinson was furious with Mularkey and they had a private meeting last night. I asked another reporter if that happened and he said they let him here as a courtesy, he can't divulge all he sees. There's gotta be limits....so...fwiw.

Murray deal was excellent. I don't get that thinking. I'd say two sweet moves and one yuck.

I was told no one would give the Titans a reasonable deal and they were hung up. Pay too much for their guy or draft someone their only OK with, so they went after Conklin. We've all been there in FF. It's a bad spot to be in.

I didn't hear squat about the pics of Tunsil getting high. What I heard was Nikemdiche owned up to hotel room incident, Tunsil halfway did and they didn't like that. When they asked him at a later date he was borderline sarcastic and they started to feel he was a risk. Some of what I read last night is simply "the hotel room" without specifics but it's not much of a leap to assume other teams had the same experience. I get it. He's a kid that's been asked the same Qs 50 times so he's a bit wise. I don't think he realized he was hurting himself.

I have a buddy who for the last 20 years has had this theory every top pick should do something to fall to a quality team. He got his fuel last night and now I'm sure to be stuck hearing this for another 20. I don't think Tunsil is that clever but...yeah definitely going to hear about it from him for the next 20.

I want Jack and I want him in Polamalu role tomorrow. Every player is at risk to tear their ACL, cmon with this stuff

I want Smith and taking a year off.

I want Ragland and a reminder that "enlarged aorta" was also said to not affect his playing career.

They could have three awesome players above.

Safer-

I love Ogbah and Reed and Alexander and Robinson DT.

Whitehair looks "perfect", like a sure thing being discredited due to lack of need for a G or because he is a G. I'm fine with them taking him. Maybe the only there isn't a need pick I'm OK with. Love the guy in videos, at the combine..."perfect." He's probably going to go 10-20 of second. If I think of watching Warmack in 2016, I want Whitehair NOW.

I guess I'd also add if the top C is available in the 2nd or 3rd, even with adding Jones, I'd be fine with it. Any top guy is fine by me. Otherwise I'm thinking of needs

This 2nd round mock is well done because the Titans have spoken about these prospects matched with them

http://www.si.com/nfl/2016/04/29/nfl-mock-draft-round-2-picks-predictions-players

I don't want a WR yet. Next year. I want to see Hunter and Wright with the new staff. A new "prized" rookie will get a ton of time in camp and not give someone else enough time.

Wyatt completely stopped but early on he was all about Sheppard.

One other thing- OU WRs rarely ever pan out. Broyles was a perfect prospect-can't do any better in college. Huge #s, nat championship, different QBs same results...he was terrible with Detroit. Granted he got injured but he wasn't that good when he was healthy. In my opinion, Stoops would be a great NFL coach. He does an excellent job putting players in a position to succeed rather than forcing square pegs in round holes. Until he does though, if he ever does, I don't want a Stoops WR.

Bradford's goto target(forget his name) stunk on Pittsburgh and the Bears. The Rams had no interest in him when they had no WRs for Bradford and he was available.

For some reason, even Landry Jones lack of NFL success makes me leery of OU's WRs.

Now if we go back to last summer where Wright's college coach spent time with Whis and they wrote some plays. Week two? three? Mariota threw a ton of snap n throw passes and looked more college-ish for one week. If the Titans want to go that route, well then fine with Sheppard and Wright's awesome for that type of O but traditional NFL O...I don't want him.

Obviously the first next year is a big deal if the Rams stink (chances are good). The Rams overpaid, so I guess the Titans were willing to give some of those "freebies" back to get their guy.

Overall I like this scenario better than staying at #1 and considering Tunsil. Imagine the Titans on the clock just minutes after the bong video went viral.

From the Shutdown Corner Top 50:

14. Clemson DE Kevin Dodd
6-foot-5, 277 pounds

The skinny: Not since perhaps Ziggy Ansah has a defensive line come from relative nowhere to have such a dominant final college season. Dodd was a backup on a talented Clemson line for three years but made a massive impact last season for the national runners-up. He had the benefit of working opposite Shaq Lawson last season, but Dodd put together such impressive tape that NFL scouts are debating which player is actually going be better in the league.

Dodd did have a setback at the scouting combine when he suffered a hamstring injury during his second 40-yard dash attempt, which prevented him from completing the remainder of his testing drills. But Dodd was able to perform those drills at the pro day and do so in front of an array of GMs and head coaches. He also was making a lot of top-30 visits to teams late in the draft process, which suggests a lot of teams dotting I's and crossing T's on him. Given his relatively clean injury history and outstanding character, that's likely good news for Dodd.

Reports right away Titans are calling him an OLB, not DE
PK writes Lebeau will find a way to use all three. Fair point. If true, I guess I'm OK with the pick. It'll bug me to watch a high second on sideline though

Sterling Sheppard to Gmen.

Braxton Miller they love too

I'm hoping for a NT and CB with these two coming soon

Why Dodd and nor Chris Jones?

Do they want people to run up the middle?

They'd better get a space eater before the round is over...

Remembering now how complimentary they were of Woods when they re-signed him but yet as the season closed he and Sam Hill(still unsigned by anyone) were considered gone.
