Which Titans back do you think is favored to take the reins from Henry?
Which back is the best as a third down back?

Some people were high on Haskins last year.

Nobody on the roster is taking the reigns by himself. I’d expect a bit more spears than Haskins if his health allows.

Maybe Jace McClellen?

Probably someone still in college right now. Would love to say Spears though.

This. High draft capital rookie ahead of Spears if I had to guess. I wouldn't sleep on D. Henry outlasting Spears if the man is actually down one ACL, but DH might move on to a contender at some point.

That guy looks tiny like a lot of UDFAs that don't pan out.

Haskins had good hands. A lot of people liked him last summer but I found him to be a typical rookie spending too much time thinking whereas Chestnut just took the rock and bolted full steam ahead. I appreciated Chestnut's mindset. Not everyone can sit and come in and perform, so I'd probably keep him around.

I think it might be Haskins versus Spears. It should be Chestnut loses out to two drafted guys but he was clearly the second best back in preseason/camp last year.

Did you just call Jase McClellan tiny? :oldunsure:

Dude is 5’11, 211 lbs heading into his senior year with Saban. He’ll be discussed with the Heisman conversation. (I misspelled his name :bag:

https://www.google.com/search?clien...HQxbBJkQ0pQJegQIBxAB&biw=412&bih=784&dpr=2.63 weird. His arms look small in one pic, he's got guns in the next. Thighs same

So @Oz do we like him then? His chances?
Do I like McClellan? Yes. He’s probably not the Prince (King Jr) but I think he’ll be good.
My main point for the thread is spears nor Haskins are likely to be long term workhorses - but I do like spears as the head of a committee.

Update-
Haskins probably done due to domestic issue.
Ward won over the coaches in the spring and reporters mentioned him often.
Chestnut made a couple huge plays- whatever that means in shorts.
McClelland got didn't get much love in the spring.
Spears' play and athleticism catches everyone's eye. A constant on practice reports.

Third down back scat back plays reportedly made for Spears turned out to be for both he and Haskins. Haskins closed out the spring getting a quite favorable quote from Vrabel. With him gone, it just takes away a battle Spears was likely to win.

It leaves a hole as to Henry's sincere backup. They are not redoing the offense if he gets injured or just calling Spears' plays. Their line isn't even made for that.

I imagine they'll consider adding a veteran especially if he's cheap.

Without adding one, I'd guess Chestnut because he's such a classic UDFA back and we've all seen that story before.

I have no idea why Spears as a third down back causes people to say he'll be fine, he's played without an ACL but yet as a potential main RB there's knee concerns...whatever with that.

None of these guys are proven as a pass protector and that is a real key quality here. Chestnut has been fine in preseason and limited snaps. Ward's been around the league some. Don't forget that's an often overlooked role for young backs

Ward's hurt, waiting for details that they're not obligated to share in preseason.

Chestnut flashed, as he did last year in pre and regular season. He's very unexciting and unspecial until vroom there he goes. A lot of RBs are like that but it seems to be held against him.

Everyone seems to have a dead man walking mindset on Haskins. No idea on the court case, very little shared. Just it's a female owner so don't in anyway think they'll be tolerant

Jacques Patrick was signed
He's a big boy bruiser back that probably doesn't have Henry's fifth gear or acceleration but...he can probably take some sub carries and lay some out similarly.

No Haskins.
Vikes DL did well but not dominant today.
Spears didn't run much well but caught screens well and they couldn't stop it.

Jacques stuffed often knocking guys over tho, looked gimmicky w some tweeting he's a lineman. Broke one for fifteen or so and I guess people googled him then. Pretty poor day though.

Chestnut always finds a way like the great backs- stuff, one yard two yard stuff....big gain. That's all he has in common with the great backs, I just think it's "funny" how he does that.

Haskins absent. Titans are one over roster number for three days now and no gripes or discussion from NFL soooo I'm guessing there's been a backdoor discussion about him

Chestnut same as last year. He's darn good in preseason. You can't cut that. Idk third or fourth string. The announcers had him pushing Tyjae and he's not but he looked good.
Tyjae looks special at times. He's gonna be a huge problem for defenses Henry wore down. He's got great early vision or fifth gear; someone is coming at him and he runs diagonal turns in the Jets and vroom. You can tell he sees it.

Jacques had a 3.6 average and I probably expected about that for the big fella. He needs to break one though or I'm not sure he makes it.
I see they're throwing the playbook at hm and he must be a heckuva student to play so many spots but isn't that gravy? I think he's gotta run well or no one will care if he plays FB HBack or inline

Spears 20mph
Chestnut 21mph
On their big runs.

I didn't think Chestnut had that but as always he surprises

Vrabel began answering a Q about Chestnut by saying he played well on special teams, blocked well, and did some things and that's why we made him a captain this week. (paraphrase)
Sooooo he's a lock now for the third spot.

Also, interesting to me, when asked of the WR injuries, it was mentioned that Spears is still playing WR in practice.

I'd keep Spears Chestnut and big Jacques.
15 for 76 in spot work tonight is darn good.

Maybe there's a trade to be had in there. Probably not with RB market. Nonetheless...I think Jacques Patrick could be an up N down guy off the PS.

He showed as a FB, HBack and RB.
Alize Mack showed as a WR, TE, HBack, and FB.
I got them both on n off the roster. One injury and the versatility is useful. A good D and they may want the extra blocking.

Ward released
Haskins to IR. His court record now has Sep 25 as an additional date. My guess is his 8/30 hearing got moved but could be date of sentencing...what do I know

Jacques Patrick was cut with a mention they may want him on PS per Wilson.

Best three backs the Titans have had in quite some time.
Chestnut's improvement could make it a timeshare with Tyjae if Henry were to get injured.
Tyjae should have a good chunk of plays for him every week

Hawkins was switched to NFI Commissioner's exempt last minute

Haskins had the charges dismissed.
Waiting for an article explanation. The woman had strangulation marks sooo ????

Anyway he's gotta hear from the NFL reviewers now and afaik he's out for the year on IR
