Titans offseason 2015 (1 Viewer)

The plan seems to have changed with DGB.

They've gone from where Wyatt called it his JV year to being impressed enough they're going to try and push the envelope some.

He's not as good as Calvin and he's not as bad or raw as rookie Brian Quick. He's between there but similarly physically superior to any CB.

I really think you "have to" draft DGB and wait N see.

There's some admittance that they won't make the playoffs and win the supe and within that that he could help them steal a couple wins and/or not get destroyed so badly.

So FWIW I've changed and I say draft him and wait N see

I think-

Probably Monday, we could start a new thread.

Cuts at 4pm, then (as Lovie Smith called it first pick in another draft) they have like 2nd pick in a WW draft that'll come out Sunday. Vested veterans can be signed right after being cut

That ok? Make sense to you?

First post in new thread should probably include a link to this one.

McBride was cut, they hope he goes to PS...doubt it

Cutting Nicks brings up the Q of why did they give him so much time with the ones then?

Pasted tweet in cut thread, supposedly Titans only keeping 4 WRs
This talk is now that they can't trade TE(don't like offers I assume) so they keep the TEs for now and hope their WRs are still available once trade is done

Interestesting tactic re WR/TE. Wonder who they are trying to get.

Would and old and likely tired Reggie Wayne make sense as an addition at this point? He can be picked up without compensation to any team.

One of the reporters said to Nicks see ya tomorrow? and he said I'll see you all season.

He was certain he made it, it was a shock to him.

In preseason he had two "wow he does have his speed back" catches but I don't think that's enough to counter 40 some odd catches with Indy last year and strike up a market for him.

Every year we hear about backdoor agreements to stick around, stay in shape, and they'll re-sign a guy. I would really guess that's the case here

To have rookies two rookies with nice pedigrees DGB and McBride and Turzilli who came on and Deon Long who is supposedly a special athlete and have wasted soooo much practice time giving Nicks reps is really a mistake. If any of them pan out elsewhere, it'll be an even bigger mistake.

Matias signed to PS-phew

25th TE, Tevin Westbrook signed to PS. I wouldn't expect this to last. This is supply and demand with TE being sparse in the NFL, what if they trade, what if an injury...he didn't even play that much

2 WW pickups is not enough. Tampa is at 5 or 6 and assumed to be 10 by the tomorrow.

As Lovie said this is a second draft.

I see some 2nd and 3rd round pick CBs cut, a bunch of DL

The "plan" is to improve your depth here and not expect to be in the 2nd WW spot again. Eagles and Chiefs are deep, Seahawks are loaded...chances are their backups are better than the Titans

It's inevitable there will be a "could have had" line of thinking from people midseason once one of these "nobodies" breaks out. They gotta put more than a toe in the water here

With Nicks being a vested veteran could be they are planning to re-sign him after game 1, to avoid his contract being guaranteed

ETA: And concerning trade, they either have to go after a WR for TE swap or will simply have to cut one of the TEs anyway

Kendrick Ellis Giants, is absolutely a guy that should be intriguing to the Titans. NT that had some impressive powerful moments in preseason. They don't have that big guy with power. They have a slew of tough DEs and 4-3 DTs. With Hill out...there's really no reason to not sign a guy like him. Worst case-They could cut him Thursday and it wouldn't make a dent in their 15-20 mil free cap space. Preseason, against 1s, this guy did pretty well

Not explicitly mentioned but McBride is on the PS

ETA: Khiry Thornton, a 315 lbs DT 3rd round pick in 2014 released by the Patriots

After the Steelers game last year Whis characterized it as the way they beat them was with their 3 TE set. Ummm no it was because they were 800k times better, couldn't stop Bell or Brown. Nonetheless, they showed 3 TE set a few times in preseason which made me like awww cmon you'll never do that! His ego and the Steelers....

McCluster can play WR

We didn't see Fowler in the slot as has been discussed all summer. Andrews is mister everything 4th (maybe 3rd now) QB, backup LS and backup FB. Klug plays gimmicky FB. Maybe a TE can play FB but also Whis loves the single back set.

Sankey lined up wide week 4, Andrews did week 2.

Last year one of the worst ideas was Walker in the slot which just made him easier to cover and the D know it was coming to him.

It's possible he thinks they're set or that they're fine unless a good enough deal comes up to change that.

Feeling a little better now, hoping for some CB and DL maybe OL tryouts too

Jarrod West, one of the better WRs in Titans rookie minicamp did well with Steelers this summer and signed to their PS

He was invite non contract IIRC

Anyway only Titan I can find going the other way and joining the Steelers and a bit of a stretch at that

#Titans P.S: G/T Will Poehls, G Josue Matias, WR Tre McBride, WR Rico Richardson, RB David Fluellen, TE Tevin Westbrook, S Josh Aubrey.

From Wyatt

Cmon look at CBs and DL....cmon now Lions just invited Baptiste a former 2nd round pick cut by the Saints...jump in Titans

Well a friend explained it-

Ya can't trade for an anticipated IR slotted player, takes a day to move someone into an IR slot....Cobb to IR was one move, Trade for West cut Coffman is the other.

I don't see any reports of Coffman getting any offers so tomorrow Cobb will be in IR slot and Coffman should be re-signed.

Coffman re-signed, still no reports of offers from other teams. He was top TE in receiving in preseason and did well last year, curious why rest of NFL doesn't seem to want this guy
