Titans veteran running back Chris Brown took questions for the first time since his Agent, Wynn Silberman, requested permission from the team to seek a trade.
Brown said he is happy to be a Titan and wants to focus on playing football.
"I want to be in Tennessee," Brown said. "I love it here in Nashville and I want to stay here."
Brown said he wants to focus on training camp and let his Agent deal with the off-the-field issues.
"I hired my agent to try to do what is best for me," Brown said. "I've got to come out here because I have a job to do. I'm going to help this team win and do what I have to do."
"I'll go out and work hard every day of training camp and try to help us win."
Brown is expected to be the Titans starter at running back this season, but will have competition for the spot with Travis Henry and second-round draft pick LenDale White, who is scheduled to report to camp on Saturday.
Brown is still expected to be the Titans’ starter this season, but the Titans are expected to sort out a pecking order during training camp since Henry and White are also in the mix.
Brown said competition during camp won't bother him.
“I went to Colorado first of all,” Brown said. “When I was there it was like Running Back U. Everybody told me not to go there and [when I first got there] I was fifth on the depth chart.”
Brown said his teammates have been supportive and understand the situation Brown is in.
“Most of the teammates I’ve talked to have been pretty cool about the whole situation,” Brown said. “It’s part of the business aspect of the game and [they know] somebody’s got to take care of it.”
Brown also talked with Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher regarding his foucus heading into camp. Fisher said he wants Brown to focus on the upcoming season and not worry about trade rumors.
"It wasn't Chris who made the comments," Fisher said. "Hopefully we can put this behind us and play. Chris looks great right now."
Fisher said Brown and Henry will continue to share the reps during practice and then gain more practice time as camp progresses. Brown and Henry swapped out after each play during Friday's first training camp practice session.
"We're just going to build their reps now," Fisher said. "The philosophy is to take one at a time and the alternate and then we'll get to two and then by the end of camp they'll be taking five to seven reps at a time to prepare themselves for the drives."
Once White reports to camp, he'll join the rotation and the competition for playing time should heat up. Brown said he's ready to leave it all on the field.
“I’m going to go out there and compete,” Brown said. “May the better man win.”
Even with the timing of the trade-seeking situation a little off, Brown said he wants to set the record straight - he wants to be a Titan.
“I want to be here. I think its better for me to be here and I want to stay here."
