Burks made it a point to tell reporters it's not a hamstring just cramps.
Very interesting that Callahan said w Boyd out that Kearis leads (Jahquan, Kinsey, and Phillips) that position. He reminded reporters that he doesn't do much have a backup slot and the backups have to play all three spots and contribute on ST. They all do contribute and look good in the slot but Kearis has some outside ability. I did NOT expect that. That's considerable news.
In another Q, He mentioned "if six WRs active on GameDay..." That could mean keep seven which is very high BUT sticking with six I'd guess-
Hopkins, Ridley, Boyd, Burks, NWI, and Kearis.
He also replied yes they do have good depth and they can't keep everyone.
Few articles on this. Writers all say Jahquan is going to be sixth and is clearly in the lead. If coach said he's not then he's not.
I would say he's seventh. Coach mentioned he's exciting and playmaker they drafted to do just that but he has to stack days. The other day was how Kearis can play outside.
I don't think the Titans have ever been this deep at WR.
Kearis didn't do that well at Georgia and tested slow at 4.55. Last year he was clearly one of those "plays faster" types but his breakaway speed this year is "wow, how fast is he now?"
I do think Jahquan gets picked up if cut and Kearis has a better chance to clear waivers but with the new kickoff rule getting so much attention maybe a team will trade for a return guy?
As someone elsewhere pointed out, Burks has had a few and looked typical, these two can break some, but otherwise the Titans can't get YAC with Nuk, Ridley, Boyd, and NWI so a big task for the OC is to script plays where they can catch n run and most teams don't have to do that. So the age IS showing up and (full circle) it's very odd to even talk about a sixth WR or possible seventh. It's also odd for the six and seven and eight to even run with the ones at all.
Callahan uses these two on some gadgety plays but also they catch a ton of slants- quick move, burst, catch 1,2,3. It keeps illustrating the simplicity speed brings.
The Titans always had poor yac guys and I was who cares look how many grabs they have and how reliable and then AJB reminded me the game is sooo much simpler when a WR can just catch n run for 40 yards rather than QB having to complete 4-5 passes for 40.
This little YAC could really be a noticeable issue this year. As I said like a month ago- idk why Ridley doesn't get much yac or broken tackles but coach it up and work on it because he's got the physical ability. Sixth and seventh won't play. That's really their only hope.
A second year (less than 16 starts) QB could sorely use to have that YAC and ...I think this comes up as an issue this year
