Title loss sob stories (1 Viewer)

I just saw the champs lounge thread and thought there should be somewhere for those of us who were not so lucky to commiserate.

I was down 4 in a PPR going into the 4th tonight with Foles and Jeffrey going. The starters for both teams were pulled by the 6:00 mark. Lost by 2 :(

Anyone else?

I won the championship in my main league (10 man) year one.

Next year, I faced and lost to CoolStoryBro in the finals.

This year, I faced and lost to CoolStoryBro in the finals.

I'm starting to question everything.

Started Keenan Allen over Garcon..... Lost by about 10 points. I was point leader all season, next guy had scored 100 less than me and I hadn't lost a game since Week 3. Second is OK but I wanted to win it all.

I have a pretty good sob story. I've been in 6 leagues in the last two years, and have been the best team in 4 out of 6 leagues. In every single league I had a 100+ advantage in points over second place. In two of the leagues I actually had a 250+ advantage over second. In 3 of the 4 leagues, I lost in the first round, and in my lone championship game today I lost. I'm definitely trying daily fantasy out next year, because my luck in these yearly leagues is ridiculous. I'm sure I'll be back next year regardless, and I'm sure other people have similar stories, but damnit this sucks lol.

I've learned to not let the winning matter as much as it used to and what matters is playing with friends. Razzing people over losses. And I get a lot of joy of researching and learning about the players. When it comes down to it theres a lot of luck and randomness involved so I should focus on the process of it. Because if you really want to gamble on FF then just do daily leagues or bet on teams in Vegas.

Not sure this one can be topped...

- Made playoffs in all 5 leagues I was in this year (many high stakes)

- Went 5-0 in my quarter finals

- Went 0-5 in my semi finals (was favoured in all 5)

- Went 0-5 in all my 3rd place games (was favoured in 4 of 5)

Heartbroken.

Its all the footballguys fault. I'm soo done with them. They didnt hand me a championship... I want a refund!

Went up against Peyton Manning in both championship games. Lost one, won one. Funny, but the one I won the other team also had Jamaal Charles.

Not exactly sobbing, but would have been nice to go two-for-two against Peyton.

Lost one of my titles because at the last minute I decided starting A. Smith and P. Thomas were better options than Dalton and D. Brown.

I plugged in Scobee (-1 pts) instead of leaving in Crosby (6 pts). I lost by 2 (missed XP's in our league are -5 points  )

I came in second in my main (money) league last night - lost by 2 points and my opponent still has Boldin to play tonight, so not even a miracle stat correction can save me. She and I had the same record in the regular season but I won the season on points. The worst part is that if I had played Philly DEF instead of benching them for Cleveland, I would have (likely) won. Still, second place is fine and I won money, so I'm satisfied.

I was in two other free Yahoo public leagues, won one of them, came in first in one, second in the other. Those I'm not bragging about... I think half the owners in each one stopped paying attention around week five or something.

I lost last week so I took third. Had I made it i would have beaten both the championship teams by over 70
Just another testimony of why fantasy playoffs should never be one and done. Just too random. Nothing is worse than a great team that gets upended on one random playoff week when it's clear you were a top team all year (before and after..just not that one pesky off week or week where some random guy lights it up).

One of my leagues this year does 2 week matchups in the playoffs. In the first round, I was down 30 after the first week and came back to win the next week to bring me to the championship. I would have been out if it were just 1 week matchups. Only problem with that is we're still playing in Week 17, which might get ugly.

In the running:

-Burned by Peterson, my #1 pick.

-Rivers missing a wide open Keenan Allen for a TD. I had both players, cost me 12-13 pts (unsure of yardage)

-Ryan Matthews 99 yards -- 1 more yard gets me 3 more pts

-Played vs Kuechly -- 24 tackles and an INT

Winning:

-One bad Rivers pass cost me 12+ pts. Six inches closer to Allen (throw was behind) and he walks in for TD 2 for both players.

Hon Mention:

-1 yard from Matthew = 3 pts.

As it stands, I'm down 22 with Vernon and Worrilow vs Crabtree. One play would have put me within 9-10, creating what would basically be a Vernon vs Crabtree matchup. Now I'm a long (long) shot with my lowest point total since week 4. Difference between 1st and 2nd is into the 4 figures. Just not my week...

I lost this week but no sob story here... I entered the best possible lineup based on who was on my roster, but many of them just had bad days... M. Forte, Megatron, J. Tucker follows up his 22 point effort with 1 point

Second place isn't so bad.

Finished 2nd. Looking back at the season, made 3 mistakes:

1. Dropping KC defense after week 1. Thought the JAX game was a fluke

2. Trading D. Thomas for D. Martin week 6. Had WR depth with Blackmon on the bench each week and Harvin coming back week 11.

3. Spent way to much FAAB dollars on Brandon Jacobs - not letting me find a better defense or TE for the playoffs.

:goodposting:

I've still got Kaep going tonight but it doesn't matter. My entire starting lineup failed to score a single TD, my highest scorer was the Bills' D, and I'm down by fifty-eight going into MNF. :lmao:

I get second-place money plus a Monday night free to spend with the family. Win-win.

Not in the championship - but a happy sob story to tell.

So the commish of our league is in the final game - prohibitive favorite. All week long we have bene getting daily updates on the game sent to the whole league, not just his opponent. Going on an on about how this is the most championship game appearances and if he wins it will be his 4th title (he is currently the only owner in our 20 year league with more than two titles). Dude just won't let up. He even sent a mass e-mail out inviting everyone down to the local watering hole to watch the games yesterday.

Back story - two years ago when I was in the title game I sent a good luck message to my opponent on the league message board and was chastised by the commish for rubbing it in people's faces and no one else cared except the two people in the final.

So he is a PROHIBITIVE favorite and proceeds to have a terrible day yesterday - and late in the day sends out another message board post about how great his team was and how it was just too bad they had an off day at the wrong time.

I notice that he still has two players left to play (IDP and NO WAY they make up the difference) - so I sent out a nice post talking about how tight the game was and it all comes down to the last game of the season.

He responds in anger about why I would post about a game that I wasn't even involved in.

I am waiting for the light bulb to go off in his head.

Anyway - that is a sob story with a happy ending. He is sobbing, we are laughing.

Great story, thanks for sharing. Sometimes this is a fun hobby, despite those that would make it intolerable.
