Houshmandzadeh figures he had havoc wreaked on his own body back in November against Baltimore. One of the Bengals’ headiest players figured out in the second quarter that something was wrong when every time he put his leg back the pain shot from his posterior to his calf as if he were getting carved on the Thanksgiving table.

“I got an X-ray and it showed I had four cracked bones in my back. There’s nothing you can do,” said Houshmandzadeh, who had 35 of his career-high 90 catches after the injury. “You can’t have surgery, you can’t take a pain pill. Nothing. I was able to play, but it was killing me though. I couldn’t really block. I couldn’t do much. I couldn’t even sleep. No one knew it but the coaches. They know I’ve got the highest pain tolerance on the team.”

Houshmandzadeh says the back will heal on its own and that he’ll be as good as new when the seasons starts.

He didn't have any choice but to tough it out as he was carrying team BnB to a CHAMPIONSHIP!

Interestingly enough, he's still being undervalued in early drafts this year.

Kudos to him for playing through the pain...BUT...

How the hell does he know he's got the highest pain tolerance on the team? He's a pain, all right.

 They jabbed everyone in the eye with a hot poker then asked them to rate their pain on a sacle from 1 to 10, 10 being the worst pain they've ever experienced...

This sums of the problem with Cincy as a team. A bunch of "me, me, me". Did he really have to point out he had the highest pain tolerance on the team? Who can stop 85....blah blah blah....they need to take Palmer's lead and shut up.

Amazing that he played with pain, but come on do you have to make yourself out to be superman and single yourself out? I mean a simple "yes I was playing in a lot of pain, but this is the NFL everyone is playing in pain"

All that said, this proves even more that CJ isn't even the best WR on his team. And I am not buying the "I got double covered" excuse, every #1 WR gets doubled and very few have the likes of TJ and Henry to take heat off of him. If TJ doesn't miss the first couple games with injury and get limited by this back issue late in the season....the stats may have proved this point for me. In fact now that I look TJ had more catches and TDs despite playing in 2 less games. CJ only averaged about 8 more receiving yards per game than TJ too. And everyone knows how slanted that average is to his 450 yards in weeks 10 and 11.

I hope everyone keeps drafting CJ in the top 4 WRs in next years draft. I'll take CJ in round 3 or 4 instead.

Now that I hear how TJ had broken bones in his back, it's a wonder he got up from THIS HIT Anthony Smith put on him in week 17
