TO next season? (1 Viewer)

Considering his stats have declined this season. Not all his fault but he really wasn't producing before Romo went down. Since they traded for Roy Williams and with the emergence of some other receivers anybody think the Cowboys let him walk considering he's going to be a an UFA and no spring chicken?

Had JJ known he was going to land Roy Williams I highly doubt they would have extended TO beyond this year.TO will be 35 in a week or two..father time always catches up to WRs.

A lot will depend on how this season plays out and how productive he is opposite Roy Williams.

Not that it matters, but Roy said this week that the Redskins game was the most fun he's had playing football in 5 years. Without a leading question, he added that he loved playing opposite T.O. and told him (T.O.) he wished T.O. could play another 10 years opposite him. FWIW.

When T.O. first came here to Dallas, I was totally against it and didn't want any part of him. Now that he's been here (and I've seen his true colors), I'm still not a big fan but am not in any hurry to push him out the door either. He still has to be reckoned with on the field, and that's what counts.

Jerry Jones has a good relationship with him. I don't think he'll be in any hurry to push him out the door either.

And by the way, he is not a UFA after this season, as mentioned earlier.

this emergence you are talking about is hit or miss at best. don't think jerry will let TO walk to put the likes of austin/crayton on the field instead.

I think the only way Jones lets Owens go is if there's a major coaching shakeup (Phillips fired, Garret bypassed in favor of a bigger name), and that new coach doesn't want to deal with the TO media circus. Of course, dealing with TO would probably be one of the top job requirements for any incoming head coach.

I thought they just signed him to an extension? I don't think he's an UFA.And Roy Williams is no TO. I'd rather have a 35 year old TO than Roy right now. Williams is the most overrated WR in the NFL IMO. TO on the other hand is still a gamebreaker - don't be fooled by his stats this year. With Romo he is a different WR, and even when he's not putting up numbers he's taking two defenders away on every play.

I highly doubt it. Two words: New stadium.
Absolutely.Jerry Jones will want to put as many star players on the field as possible.
I'll go out on a limb, and say they'll sell out regardless of TO, or ROY, or Romo. It's the NFL, everyone sells out almost every game. This isn't baseball. There isn't 82 home games to sell. Some of the worst teams in the NFL sell out every game. You don't make roster moves to "sell out home games" in the NFL. He'll keep TO because he'll help him win more games, and gives him a better shot at a SB. So I do give it one more year. TO can still play, I'm not sure we'll see 15+ TD seasons anymore.

What media circus? :lmao: You mean the hype the media creates purely on their own when they twist and skew everything the guy says? The job requirement for the incoming coach would be to win games and use all the tools he's given to do so.TO wants to play for a winning team. Wouldn't anyone want that? He says give me the ball. Would you prefer he not want the ball? He's 8th all-time in receptions and 4th all-time in receiving TD's and he can still take it to the house on any given play.So you tell me, new stadium or no, do you let him walk? :loco:

It sounds like he may not be a free agent so this may not matter but the only way I could see them let TO go next year is if there was another elite (top 5) type WR available in free agency that they liked more. I'm not sure who the top FA WR will be for next year but I doubt there will be anybody on the level of TO.

People just don't get what impact T.O. has on the game regardless of how many balls he is catching.

And lol at media circus...what circus?

He would be on the market for about 3 minutes if he was let go.

I agree, but that doesn't mean that he should stay on for a hefty contract...He's past his prime, but if DAL is in a number crunch I think TO would be first to go.I think he comes back next year, but DAL goes for a WR at some point in the draft... if they have any first day picks left that is. Maybe if they can land Boldin in a FA deal they'd cut TO. I could see Jones drooling over a talent like Boldin. Chances are ARI slaps the franchise tag on him and trades him, which I don't know if DAL has anything left to offer for someone like Boldin, but regardless it's a possibility. Unless they have a top WR ready to step in, they don't get rid of him. He may not be catching a lot, but he still draws coverage. and Roy williams is a big step down from a talent like TO

the question is, had TO shown any real signs of a decline in his ability? the answer is NO.

the man still has that extra gear. he is a freak of nature. he'll have a couple more productive yrs.

with Romo back, you know TO is gonna get some deep balls. he should have a pretty good stretch run, imo.

Roy Williams can't hold T.O.'s jock right now. The Cowboys have no reason to consider getting rid of him until he actually shows signs of slowing down. Right now he is one of the best WR's in the NFL.

It has nothing to do with selling tickets. It's a given that Dallas sells out every game. It's simply the product that they want to put on the field.Jerry wants national attention and beyond for this stadium. He's already got an NBA All-Star game (2010), a Super Bowl (2011) and now the Final Four (2014) lined up for it.

Why do you think Parcells is gone?

I think after next yr.... TO will show a serious decline. I don't see TO slowing down to much next yr...

It'll be similar to Wayne & Harrison, but Roy E isn't close to Wayne

Nada to do with TO. :goodposting: Or I guess he was just lying.

Sure, now that they have another overrated diaherrea-mouthed butthead, what do they need him for?
