To overthink (1 Viewer)

In a 10 team league, drafted Rodgers in the fourth round and have been riding him all season long. About a month ago, I traded for Warner because of his juicy playoff matchups (week 15 at Detroit, 16 home against St. Louis), but the way Rodgers has been playing, it seems tough to bench him.

Is anyone else out there in the same boat, not exactly the same players, but faced with a similar problem of whether or not to play someone different from the guy you've had in all year?

I get the 'dont bench your studs' theory, and typically I agree, but Warner against those teams is going to be tough to pass up, ESPECIALLY considering I also have Fitz, so that's double points right there.

I'm interested in what you guys feel about overthinking when it comes to the playoffs.

Rodgers is the #1 QB in all of my leagues. Earlier in the year I was concerned about him staying upright, but the o-line seems to be playing a little bit better of late.

Of his remaining match-ups only the Bears looks sub-par on paper, and frankly I have a hard time taking the Bears that seriously. All three of his remaining games have weather potential which makes Warner a nice insurance policy, but barring a weather scenario like last night, I'd keep rolling with Rodgers (FWIW I have the same decision to make in one league).

Sometimes it pays to overthink and bench the guys that brought you to the dance.

Sometimes it doesn't.

Anyone that benched a Steeler for an upstart like Alex Smith or Jamaal Charles will probably look like a genius at the end of the weekend.

There will be plenty of cases where the opposite will be true. Anyone that benched a stud for Jerome Harrison now has egg on their face.

At the end of the day, it will boil down to a gut call.

As for your dilemma, there's something to be said about consistency. Bad O-Line or not, Rodgers has been a consistent fantasy producer.

Whereas Kurt Warner is only a couple weeks removed from a concussion.

Having Fitz would make me even less likely to roll with Warner, depending on the EV I had over my opponent. Careful...the other side of the double-points argument is the increased likelihood of a double crapfest. But then again, maybe that's called for in the playoffs. Go big or go home?

Meh, I'd still roll with Rodgers.

The GB QB has been among the best in fantasy over the past few years. That system is just conducive to scoring a lot of fantasy points, regardless of matchup.

One thing that will knock you out of the playoffs quicker than anything else is having your QB go out early in the game with an injury. Warner is far more likely to do that to you than Rodgers.

It's a good problem to have...

I'd roll with Warner. The Bears/Packers games are always grudge matches and the weather won't be ideal (not saying it will be an issue, just not dome perfect or anything). The Lions defense is brutal and Warner looked very good just last week. Tough call but one where I'd "bench the stud". Very tough call, good luck.
