TO this weekend...predictions? (1 Viewer)

As a Cowboys' fan living in the heart of Philadelphia, I can tell you that this past week has been just crazy...

I'm wondering what the general consensus is about TO's performance this weekend against the Eagles?

Myself, I think that he is, by far, the most talented WR in football. No question. When he puts his heart into playing, I don't think there is a defensive player in the NFL who can hang with him. His ego notwithstanding, he is amazingly talented...

I look for him to step his game up to the highest level this weekend and give this city another reason to hate him.

My prediction: 8 Receptions, 140 yards, 2 TD's

Another question: If he scores a TD, how will he celebrate?

Isn't there enough garbage on this (serious question: I've skipped any thread with the acronyms T.O. and O.D. in the title)?

The fact that Owens takes away from what should be a solid game is sad.

I've searched for related material on this topic (predictions on performance)...so the answer to your question is, "No...there isn't enough garbage on this."Although I'm biased (Cowboy fan), I can't see why everybody thinks this is a 'solid game'. The Eagles have beaten 3 teams (Houston, SF, & GB) who have a combined record of 3-9. Their only loss came to the Giants, who are probably better than their 1-2 record. From my standpoint, the only thing that makes this a tough game is that it in being played in a sold-out stadium full of rowdy fans wanting to see TO get laid out by Brian Dawkins.Aside from home-field advantage, I can't see the Eagles matching up to Dallas at all...but that's why the play the games.

Yes, WildGeneral, I think you're being biased :) As a New Yorker, I'm obligated to hate both Philly and Dallas equally, so I'll do me best to be objective here.

The Cowboys lost a tough one to Jax, and then beat up on a then-anemic Washington sans Portis and the Titans in Young's first start. How is that any better than winning three "easy" games and losing an improbable comback?

Personally, I think McNabb is going to have a bigger impact on this game than TO. If Westbrook, Stallworth, and Lito play, I think I give the edge to the Eagles here.

By the way, the Eagles are favored - giving 2 pts.
Cowboys'll cover. No prob. And as much I'd like to see him fail.... TO has been waiting for this week for weeks, and has had a chance to heal his pre-season woes secretly on the side. Thinking along the lines of his Super Bowl production.

TO will NOT have a big game here. The Eagles D will be ready for him and will hit him hard and often. I can see him going 4 for 44 and no TD's.

No one on the Eagles roster can cover Owens, and I don't think he's afraid of a bit of contact. The only thing O.D. has to worry about is taking a battery in the face.

Ok if you think they motivation is enough to stop him. Philly's pass D isn't that good. Right now they are 5th worst in the league. Just cause TO is there doesn't mean anything. They will want too but if TO is on his game he will abuse Phily's CB..

I say Owens gets 4 rec for 72 yards and a score. His end zone celebration - blowing a kiss to the fans of Philly.

Lito is back so with both starting CBs playing again I have a bit more confidence in the Eagles pass D. I think TO might have something like 5/80 and no TDs.

Parcells is not going to massage T.O.'s ego by feeding him the ball any more than he normally does, simply because he's playing Philly. I'm pretty sure the Tuna doesn't give 2 craps about what kind of numbers T.O. puts up... he just wants to win the game. In fact, I can see him exploiting this, using Owens to draw the secondary away and then hitting Glenn. I agree with some of the other posters that Terry Glenn will have the bigger game here, with the Eagles hell bent on not letting T.O. beat them.

I play in a weekly re-draft league (with salary cap) as kind of a fun alternative to all my dynasties and keepers, and this week I opted to start Glenn and Owens as my two receivers.

I'm probably gonna die laughing tommorow when Julius Jones gets all the glory while Glenn and Owens stand watching. :lmao:

I only meant that in terms of WildGeneral's suggestion that the Cowboys were going to blow out the Eagles.

A little story that you don't care about...

I'm in one league with a bunch of lawyers and fellow law students. There are a few real good owners, but most are just average at best.

Last week, right after the OD talk, the TO owner just wanted to rid himself of the headache. He put TO on the block but got no offers. He was frustrated and about to drop him I think, and asked again why no one wanted him. SO I threw out Henry for TO, who had actually outscored TO to that point, and to my surprise he accepted. (Yes, I feel bad, but oh well :) ).

And my real point...

I'm personally thinking like others suggested above that he might end up being more of a decoy than anything else. Double coverage, safety over the top, with Glenn and Witten running wide open all day. But that said, he's obviously in my starting lineup this week just in case he does take over :)

I think people are delusional if they think Reid is buying into this media hype. Yes, TO will be taken into account but Reid has stated numerous times that they are going to take this game into perspective and not focus on TO. It would be rather sneaky on Parcells part to go to TO more often than he's letting on right now.

I think it's more about TO and the Eagle's overmatched secondary than "Revenge" or "homecomings" - though I am sure Dawkins might put a little exta "love" on TO if he tries to go across the middle.

My prediction: 8 Receptions, 140 yards, 2 TD's
6 for 89 and a TD
8 for 110 and a score.
You'd think he'd score at least once
along the lines of his Super Bowl production.
7 for 140 and 2tds
No one on the Eagles roster can cover Owens
4 rec for 72 yards and a score.

Joselio Hanson did a nice job when Owens lined up in the slot.

Like I said before... Stallworth didn't play, but Baskett picked up his slack nicely. McNabb: 18/34 for 354 yards, 2 TDs 0 INTs and a rushing TD.Westbrook: 11/33/1 rushing, 5/53/0 receivingLito Sheppard: 7 solo tackles, 2 INTs - including the 102 yard return to end the game.TO? 3/45/0 and a nice drop going over the middle :)

Andy Reid would have done just as good as job against Owens the problem wasnt Owens it was Darren Howard and Darwin Walker who seemed to end up after every play in the Dallas backfield. Hell the Eagles could have probably left TO open and Bledsoe would have still thrown an int and this is coming from a Dallas homer and fan.
