I have a playoff draft Saturday and was wondering if there is any new news on TO's injury status.

Phillips said he is iffy for their game. I think he'll play but how effective is the question. You may hear something later this week.

He's been in a walking boot (as much as a precaution as anything). He won't practice today and Wade said he's "iffy" til next week, although he expects him to be ready for the divisional playoff game.

He's in a regular shoe today.

No boot, but no practice either.

They plan on getting him back into practice sometime next week.

High ankle sprains are very unpredictable. Sometimes, a guy rests for 2-3 weeks and can come back no problem if the sprain wasn't severe. Other times (look at D.J. Hackett's 2007 season for the negative case) the injury gets aggravated shortly after the initial return and the player in question ends up out for another stretch of weeks.

T.O. is a very notable fast healer with a high pain threshold, but given his position any instability in the ankle/lower leg is going to be a problem for him when it comes to creating separation from opposing DBs. I'd characterize him as a very risky proposition for playing in the divisional round. He may try to return in time for the Super Bowl, assuming the Cowboys advance that far.

There won't be any updates of note until he actually starts testing the ankle in practice, whenever that happens.

There is a less then 10% chance that T.O. doesnt play in the divisional playoff game. He will be ready. This is the same man who came back in only 6 weeks from a broken ankle.

Uhm, no, he isn't. It was in the San Antonio Express News yesterday. Phillips did indeed say TO was iffy.Edit to add two quotes from the paper:Owens’ return is in question because of a high-ankle sprain, the same injury that has plagued Anthony Henry for much of the season. Asked Monday if he was confident Owens would be back at 100 percent for Dallas' Jan. 13 divisional-round game, Wade Phillips said, “I’m not confident about that. I think I’ve said, we’ll see how he is. He’ll do everything he can to be ready to play. We know that, so that’s a positive.-------------------------------------------------------------------And Dallas hasn't scored a touchdown since star receiver Terrell Owens suffered a high ankle sprain against Carolina on Dec. 22. In the six quarters he's been out, the Cowboys have scored 12 points on four field goals. Asked if Owens would be back for the divisional round, Phillips said, "I'm not confident about that."

My apologies.Seems odd to me since Wade today said he was confident TO would play through the pain. Just saw it on Total Access.

There was an update on local news today that sounded more upbeat. But I think the answer is, no one knows for sure. High ankle sprains are tricky buggars.

Wade Phillips press conference 1/2/08 by Dave Halprin (Grizz) Wed Jan 02, 2008 at 04:52:12 PM EDTAre you confident T.O. will play and be effective? I don’t know for sure, he said he felt better, he’s working at it, and he’s ahead of schedule according to our people. Next Weds. or Thurs. would be the hope for him to practice. He jogged yesterday. Pushing off is the key thing. I think they took the boot off, I saw him in the training room and believe he’s out of the boot. I feel like he’ll play, he’s shown in the past, he walked off the field and walked on the sideline after the injury. He’s got toughness, he endures pain, I think he’ll do that. He’ll push through it but we want to be careful. How different is the offense without T.O? Any time you’re without one of the most dominant players in the league it will be different. You can see they have to double him when he’s in, even when he doesn’t have a big game other guys do. He’s very valuable.
