Todd Heap - what's the situation (1 Viewer)

(This is NOT a situation where I am asking "Do I make this trade?")

In a money league I'm in, I was just offered Todd Heap for Owen Daniels.

To me, it is so imbalanced I am wondering if there is something wrong with Heap or the Ravens that I don't know about.

I don't know what this is supposed to mean.
He's just marking the thread so he can refer back to it.My guess is that the guy offering Heap is just frustrated with him and doesn't want anything to do with him. All we know right now is that he had a hamstring injury, we thought it healed, and he re-injured it early this past week... so it obviously isn't healed. He could play... he could miss a week... he could miss a month. Nobody knows for sure.I'm guessing the other guy doesn't want to deal with the uncertainty - is he 2-4, 3-3 or so and needs to win now?

McNair and Boller.

That would be my take too, the Heap owner is washing his hands of him and Daniels has been doing well every week.

Stay away from Heap. There is not a TE in the NFL that shows up on the injury report more than Heap.

The latest on Heap from Rotoworld:

Todd Heap-TE- Ravens Oct. 15 - 7:10 pm et

The Baltimore Sun reports that Todd Heap (hamstring) "probably won't" play against the Bills in Week 7.

The Ravens may nurse players like Heap and Steve McNair back to full health, and avoid risking them against a beatable Bills team with a bye coming up in Week 8. Quinn Sypniewski appears likely to start in Week 7.

Heap won't play this week, and his b/u Wilcox has been and is a scratch also...2nd yrTE#3 Sypniewski will get the start and ~10 targets, as the masters of the dink and dunk will look to him oftenwhen healthy, Heap is as good a TE as you could want, but we've sooo depended on him over the years, he's just about toast

if this is a dynasty league, DO NOT move Daniels for Heap--redraft, you might get you money's worth thru the end of the season

Forget all the problems with Heap....right now....Owen Daniels is a better FF option at TE. In our league he has scored points in all but week 1.

I would not hesitate to make this deal. (if it meant I was getting Daniels.)

Yeah he's shown up in the endzone a lot of the past few years also.
I know I have had him on my teams, the problem is Heap is a gametime decision 3-4 times a year. I took Cooley this year on two teams, and drafted him later than Heap. Good production and not nearly as brittle.

Via Rotoworld:

Todd Heap-TE-Ravens Oct. 18 - 12:38 pm et

Todd Heap (hamstring) sat out Ravens practice Thursday.

This is almost a sure indication he won't play against Buffalo. With Daniel Wilcox (toe) also still out, Quinn Sypniewski will likely start Sunday.

This is awful news. I just finalized a trade that landed me Heap, mostly so I could cover for Winslow's bye week. If he is out, I may have to roll without a te this weekend.

Dump some useless player for Quinn Syp,he may be a good start this week.

I'm somewhat in the same boat as limited roster spots forced me to try and make a go with Heap this week (WW deadline has now passed). I'm torn between taking the goose egg or trading Heap. However the options are limited; VDavis, GOlsen, or EJohnson

Truth is that Todd Heap has a chronic yeast infection...the dude is hurt more than he's healthy. I have no idea why I continue to draft him each year...this year, though, I managed to drop him to the WW for Dallas Clark (don't ask me how DC was there). I hope some poor sap picks him up and experiences the pain of Heap ownership.

Less sarcastic response: He has a history of not dealing with injuries well. If you know anything about sports injuries, hamstrings are among the most frustrating injuries because they never truly heal without solid rest; given that the NFL plays every Sunday, I don't see Heap coming out of this any time soon.

To the OP: If I were you, I'd try to swindle another player out of the dude...see what his limitations are.

I'm stuck with ol Heap too. I hope he sits this week and gets next weeks bye week to try to get that wheel fixed up.

For those looking for a nice fill in, based on SOS Randy McMicheal looks like an excellent possible waiver wire fill in. With Bruce dinged and Bennett out he is likely to get a number of targets the next two weeks.

Kills me that a guy like Fred Taylor continues to carry the stigma of an injury prone player (Fragile Fred) while few complain about Heap. Seems like he's hurt and on the injury report more than any other "star" player.

Here are Heap's career stats... doesn't seem like he is as injury prone as you guys are making him out to be. 4 seasons of playing in 16 games... except for 2004 seems he has been a great fantasy TE...

This is a case where the stats don't tell the whole story.Heap often played at 75% (or less) health because even at 50%, he's still a good option and the best TE that Baltimore has.

He has had issues for the past several years and if you check his history of appearing on the injury report, you'd agree.

Heap Injury Report History

Stay away from Heap. There is not a TE in the NFL that shows up on the injury report more than Heap.
Heap should be made to wear a skirt every week. It is pitiful. I've never seen any player get hurt so consistently. I made the mistake of drafting him in one league. I'd take Owen Daniels for Heap in a heartbeat.

Why can't you do that trade in your league then. In fact, you could probably do better than that straight up.

Waiting for Heap to have a big game so I can put him out for trade. For now I'll have to go with Desmond Clark.

I know you're trying to be funny. But I'm guessing you couldn't take one hit that Heap takes every single week and still be able to walk off the field.

But he's not a professional athlete getting paid millions to play football either, so who cares what he could take? It's totally irrelevant. There are a ton of other TEs in the league that take the same hits and are out there every week. He is definitely fragile.
