Tom Brady Competitor (1 Viewer)

You could see the fire in his belly when he knew they weren't going to get the ball back for one more shot at a game winning TD. You could see his fierce profanity on the sidelines. Gronk oh so close on the series before.

I love it! Go Brady. Superbowl rematch?

That's exactly what it was. He was pissed off!

"I just wish we won this one," said the Patriots quarterback. "I think we put a lot into this one. This was a great test for us. I think the guys knew how important it was for our season, and you hate to have the ball on the 20-yard line under three minutes with a chance to go ahead -- and not do it. I think that sucked."

Tom should call out that defensive line for allowing Rodgers to have 10 seconds per throw.

GB's o-line looked heaven sent yesterday

yeah, I wanted to comment on that, but I felt it needed some kind of visual aid.

I won't say they got much pressure on rodgers, but you're probably thinking of that one play where rodgers held the ball for 12+ seconds, and pats weren't even really rushing at all.

the line was just trying to contain him in the pocket.

Pats were so concerned with Rodgers' scrambling in 4Q that they just rushed 2 and set up a wall at line of scrimmage t.co/guR7FsdTu6

I loved it. Speaking of profanity, did you guys hear the clear that's f****** bull**** at the end of the Baltimore/SD game? Sounded like it came from a fan maybe, or someone on the sideline. Pretty terrible job of them allowing that to get through.

Good thing the Packers weren't going up against the spy-gate Patriots they probably would have lost when they knew that pass to Nelson was coming. :tinfoilhat:

As a Jets fan, it was amusing to see him go off like that. Then again, I'd love my QB to have that kind of fire (and talent obviously).

pretty sure there's already a thread about rodgers being the best qb ever -- I'd call that celebrating him

any more celebrating and you'll be wiping the spunk off his fathead

We're about to head into the fantasy playoffs and we have threads about Tom Brady's personality and Clay Matthews' fat head commercials up at the top.

Rodgers did the same thing when he missed Cobb fur a TD in the first quarter. Why aren't we celebrating him?
It doesn't cost anything for you to start that thread.
It's not related to fantasy football. Plus I think every top QB is equally competitive. Brady is no more competitive than Rodgers, Manning, Luck, Brees, etc. Just because he cursed on camera?

It goes without anyone noticing because of his early career success, but has anyone been worse late in games the last few years than Brady? I think he's converted something like 2 out of 12 drives the last two years when NE got the ball with less than 5 minutes left down by one score.

If I recall he also had late interceptions in both super bowl losses when they could have iced the game.

He didn't throw any picks in the 1st SB loss. In the second he did throw one early in the 4th when they were leading by 2.

I think a lot of people are missing the point here. Of course all of the top QB's are competitive. No one is trying to say Brady is more competitive than Rodgers or Manning or anyone. But this type of reaction is far from the norm. I see QB's all the time react like this, or in a similar fashion, after throwing an INT or missing a wide open WR, etc. Reactions that are directly related to their own personal mishaps. But Brady reacted like this when he saw his team's chances of winning the game go out the window. It was all about the team, and wanting to win the game as a team, completely unrelated to anything specifically about him. Many times you see a QB sitting on the bench in a situation like this, and they may react, but not with nearly as much emotion as we saw from Brady in this game. I respect that. I've always 'hated' Brady, Belichick, and the Pats, but only because they're so good. I have a ton of respect for all of them.

What are the odds that most of the guys on the patriots hate Brady? Pretty good I'd say.

Imo it's Brady's intangibles (intensity/passion, leadership, drive, etc.) that have taken him to the elite level. He doesn't have the prototypical deep ball/arm strength, etc. that you'd look for in an elite QB, but his intangibles are second to none, including Manning, I'd argue. Manning's football IQ/smarts are second to none (Off coordinator on the field, etc.), but Brady's intangibles are just incredibly admirable.

Hard not to cheer for guys like that.

p.s., Combine that with arguably the GOAT coach and it's easy to see why they've been so successful for so long. I thought they looked dead in the water in the first quarter of the season, but Brady has picked up the team and put them on his back, emotionally. Incredible.

He knows his window is closing.
It is? He is the starting QB on a team that would the 1 seed in the better conference right now. That's a closing window?
Nah, I see it. It's more bitterness (still) of not being drafted until the sixth round (or whatever....just let it go) and the closing window of opportunity to win a legit title in many folks eyes. Like it or not.

I meant his career window is closing. You only get so many chances at a title and Brady is getting up there in age.

What is it with him and getting dissed on high fives? Is it like when they rub Adrian Beltre's head, or do they really dislike him? Or is he just clueless? It looked like nobody was within ten feet of him, and he's trying to get a high five.

I can't read much into it, it's just funny.

I've often noticed how rude players are to one another on the sidelines. It's almost comical. I forget who but last night one of the guys made a great run into the sideline area. One of his defensive teammates was all YEAH! YEAH! and he turned and walked away without any reaction. Reminded me of the kid on Deliverance when the guy tries to shake his hand after the dueling banjos scene.

Hockey: Greatest teammates ever. You won't find a sport that concerns itself more with congratulating everybody on individual success than hockey until the baseball playoffs begin.

That's because hockey is awesome.

Don't need a drone to sniff this one out :tinfoilhat:
:cry:I see illegal contact and hand-checking on the defense more than five yards down the field.
Do I really need to point to the illegal contact where the offensive player just ran into the packer? It happens both ways.... 3rd quarter, 1:34 mark

In that case the refs even helped them out and threw the flag to make up for the ineptitude of the Patriots being able to complete the pass.

Uh Oh: Tom Brady Is Celebrating Again
NFL defenses know one thing: You should fear Tom Brady . Increasingly, his teammates agree.

“All of a sudden he’s a foot away from you, head-butting you three times,” said teammate Brandon LaFell. “I’m like, hey, man, calm down.”

Catching touchdowns from Brady, the New England Patriots’ superstar quarterback, is the easy part this season. The hard part is dealing with his celebrations.

“You’ve got to—got to—be prepared for his head-butts and high-fives, because they are coming…You’ve got to brace yourself. It doesn’t look like much coming at you but it’s intense,” said Patriots wide receiver Brian Tyms. “If he throws the ball 50 yards and you run 50 yards and score, he’s going to run all 50 yards and head-butt the hell out of you.”

I'll eat crow on this one -- I thought the pats were done at the start of the season. Now they're the creme de la creme again. Looking at the roster, I don't see the wall-to-wall talent one would expect in an elite team, but there are some obvious studs -- Brady, Gronk, Revis, Wilfork, etc.

A healthy Gronk obviously changes everything, but I'm still amazed at how this team is doing. Just can't say enough about Brady and Billicheck. Candidates for GOAT in each of their respective roles for sure.
