Have a friend that works for the San Diego tribune and something she is hearing is that there could be more players implicated in the Terrance Kiel situation, high-profile players to include Tomlinson and Eric Parker. It's a rumor at this point, and not much else will be known until Kiel's arraignment, but this is something definitely to watch as more arrests could be on the horizon.

LT owner.

Perfect example of what is wrong with the internet and rumors and all the crazy crap getting spread around. :loco:

Is your friend hearing this from a source at WFAA TV in Dallas? :excited:

"Until there is a link, dont raise a stink" is my motto.
:goodposting: I also like "When in doubt, throw it out: (used when questioning if a food is old/bad/etc.) and"If it doesn't fit, you must acquit" (used when testimony is old/bad/etc.)"You gotta know when to hold 'em...know when to fold 'em" is also a right dandy motto.

Chris Mortensen hasn't got ahold of this one yet ?

Is there ANYTHING in LTs past that suggests he could get involved in something like this?

This is a rumor-loving message board, so it's "even if it's a stinker, buy it hook, line, and sinker."

I am curious if other people have a different definition of the word 'rumor' than I do?

The title clearly states rumor, yet those who don't like rumors still feel the need to come in and poo-poo why they don't like rumors?

nothing on the Charger boards I follow either.

the only reason I don't call this 100 bogus right now is b/c LT is from Texas.....

Seriously, thanks for the heads up Syrus. If there is anything to this rumor, you will be mentioned in the FBG email as the one who broke the story. Sometimes rumors get squashed, and sometimes they turn out to be true.

Nothing wrong with posting what youve heard, as long as you state that it is purely a rumor at this point, which you did.

Ive seen many rumor threads turn out to be true, so Im not knockin you for giving us the info you have. Its what makes this site so friggin cool.

My only question is when did Eric Parker become a high profile player.

He's a starter. If he's implicated, it's big news. IMO, however, LT and Parker are two of the three least likely players to be involved in anything like this (Rivers being the third). Those guys are all Peyton Mannings, personality-wise.

Solid effort there (although you should have a "?" at the end of a question)

that's a pretty good motto but I also advocate just because there ain't a link, dudn't mean it don't stinkI think you process rumor first, seconded rumor, link, counter-analysis, counter-link, dispute from involved party or team........... something along that line.

Maybe us Sharks could put together an information processing order for "breaking news" because we always end up arguing with each other more than getting to the truth and links end up being 14 pages long where you can't disseminate information or actual importnt interpretation. I'm sure such established processes exist already in other arenas and I'd certainly advocate us finding or developing this model to provide benefits and caveats of each step of process involved in the information process. :hey:  I hear the bald guys voice from STTNG, "Make it so!" :P :

It makes alot of sense to me that the DEA would leak early word to the Union Trib about how other arrests are going to be made, yep leak some word that LT is going down. Also makes sense that a guy with a 50 Million dollar deal needs to pick up a couple of 100 extra dollars trying to help Kiel move some codeine cough syrup back to his homies. Yup its all making sense, 5 start thread indeed.

If you want to post a rumor that you hear, thats fine by me. Before I post rumors though, I try to think about whether they make even 1 ounce of sense. You work for ESPN? This thread

Rivers got the elusive Falcon Filter sticker in the Bird's character based draft assessment which indicates a player of such extraordinary leadership qualities and makeup that generally only a couple players merit it in an entire draft.

We need a color coded alert system for breaking news:Blue = Normal news about a player

Green = Totally unverified rumor about a player

Amber = Rumor about a player from 2 sources and at least 1 link

Orange = Rumor about a player from many sources and many links

Red = 99% true

For example, TO attempts suicide would've been a Orange Alert.

Oh, I agree 100%. I just liked the rhyme scheme. And you can go back and edit the big text if you havent done so already.
no, actually I rather liked your rhyme sheme and after all I am an English teacher although my posts here generally resemble a scatterbrained dyslexic. I reawy am uh god at engwush! :loco: Ever hear about the Agnostic insomniac with dyslexia. He was up all night wondering if there really was a Dog. bu bum bum : Crickets ha ha

And for my print size error, I'm afraid if I go in and edit, I'll deactivate the other special functions since I'm so unskilled at computer use. Besides, I rather like the effects of its comic magnamity and it really would be something we could benefit from. Maybe Joe could come up with a strategy we should use to keep our board sane in these situations. Ahem. No prompt there!

This makes no sense. LT is about as clean-cut a player as you are going to find. Family orientated, religious, active in the community. Not to mention his contract is for $50MM. He is the anti-Kiel.

You all might remember this completely unfounded 'rumor' posted by another member who's name began with an 'Sy':

"Take it FWIW, but I work with a guy who's daughter talked to Priest yesterday (she works for his agent), and she says that Priest may be done. Aparently when he gets hit a certain way, he goes partially numb. She said he is pretty scared.

Don't know how true this is, but I do know that she talks to these guys frequently."

Link to Syx's rumor

Everybody blew it off, but it did pan out. It's OK to post rumors, as long as it is clear they are just that (as Syrus did). If you react too quickly, you're a fool. If you watch a little more closely, you might get a jump start on some shark action. Syrus will either be a hero, or just somebody who posted a rumor that turned out to be untrue.

I remeber that post very well. It has little to nothing in common wih this thread however. Why? Because the Priest rumor made some kind of logical sense - it wasn't a big stretch to think that maybe he'd gotten his bell rung a few to many times at that point to continue on. This thread on the other hand makes zero logical sense, none, nada, nunca, nil. GoldPlatedNails already spoke to why that's the case, reread his post.

Fair enough... but gotta admit, the "a guy I know whose daughter works for Priest's agent" is quite the stretch, as well.

I ain't buying, not even close, but I might check back on this board a bit more often to see if any corroborating evidence is brought forward.

It is what it is said:
NFL players are human, just like the rest of us. So nothing would surprise me with regards to NFL players slipping. I know a guy... Realize nobody is above making mistakes...nobody.
I know someone somewhere in San Diego who's saying Steven Hawking masterminded the whole codeine cough syrup party train, and that Kirk Cameron was the mule. I hope you don't have those guys on your fantasy celebrity teams.....

Here's one from the U-T forum:

I know for one, he has a pretty bad gambling problem (have friends who work at 2 diffrent casinos who know the guy by name and they told me he has markers out at both places and plays big games for hours at a time. And these are people that barely watch football and wouldnt know who he was), maybe he has other problems too.
(About Kiel, not Tomlinson.)

Yeah, absurd. Like Jamal Lewis (or even Kiel for that matter) needing to get extra coin by dealing drugs. Lunacy!I'm not saying the rumor is true. But at least come up with a critique that makes even 1 ounce of sense.

I'd give 100-1 odds the LT rumor is BS, but one angle to consider is the drug involved - a pain killer. It makes no sense that LT or Parker would be slinging it with Kiel for profit. Could they be customers?
