Tony Scheffler (1 Viewer)

is he going to have a big year a la Dallas Clark last year (or maybe better)? if he's available on waivers, is he worth blowing the #1 waiver pick on?

haven't been able to see much Denver so far but I own him and after the whole Nate Jackson scare there for awhile I'm REAL happy he's had a couple of good games stats wise. Maybe someone else can shed more light. But, I'm happier right now.

The way the Denver passing attack offense in rolling so far, I wouldn't be surprised to see Scheffler challenge Witten as the #1 TE this year, especially with all the questions surrounding Gates (toe inury), and Witten (Browns questionable offense).

While Tony won't get 16 TDs that he's on pace for, he is on pace for 1088 yards, and I could definetely see him get the yardage and 10+ TDs.

I'd be extremely surprised.

He had one good game and one terrible game. Sure he had one good play in the first game, but other than that he was hardly on the field and when he was he was dropping passes. I wouldn't want to count on him.

I wouldn't call 72 yards from your TE a terrible game. Thats TE1 numbers.

It was a good fantasy game, but it was just one play. I watched the whole game and he played terribly.

How so?

And thats all that matters in this hobby.

Guy gets 6 for 62 and 2 tds in his second game and gets 72 yrds in his first game. If he catches the ball that Cutler drilled into his numbers in the endzone in the first game this is a whole other discussion.

JUst what kind of opportunity/points are you guys looking for in a TE? Cause I dont see it.

What would the Cleveland Browns' offense have to do with the production of Dallas Cowboy Jason Witten?

Sorry, I meant Winslow.

If you were a shark you'd know. Keep reading.

Chuck Norris has Tony Scheffler as his starting TE.

Tony Scheffler was seen lifting weights with Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and Nessie.

I picked up Scheffler last year during one of Heaps numerous injuries. I played Scheffler the rest of the year. Over the last 6 weeks of 2007 Scheffler was the #4 TE in the league. He is not the most consistent fantasy scorer (18,1,5,20,5,14 over the last 6 weeks of 07) but he has some excellent games. Additionally, Witten, Cooley, Gonzo, Winslow, and Gates all had games of 5 points or less. Dallas Clark had two games with a 0 and one game with 1 point over the last 6 weeks last year. Scheffler finished #10 in my league over the entire season despite missing much of the first half. I picked up Scheffler and Owens in both of my TE required leagues. If he is on the waiver wire I'd grab him (of course not knowing the makeup of your league, scoring, or who else is available I can't say if he's worth the #1 waiver pick). He is not available in any league I'm in, including a league where TEs are not required.

Scheffler missed the first five weeks. Here's the rest of 2007 for him:

C-Y-TD

2-37-0

5-50-1

3-28-1

6-46-0

4-31-0

3-38-0

5-82-1

1-17-0

4-31-0

7-100-1

2-37-0

7-52-1

Couple bad games after week five but not a single 0.

I always hated that "is he for real? thing. He's right there! Of course he is real.
:bag: He will do well this year. He's a solid top 10 TE but to make the jump into top 5, he'll need to get more than one catch like in week 1 and he also can't drop gimme TDs like he did in week 1 either. Drops like that will put him in Skeletor's doghouse in a hurry.

For my thoughts on Scheffler, check the player spotlight. They haven't changed so far.

Dropped passes? Scheffler was targeted twice- one went for 72 yards, and the other was dropped. That's dropped PASS, as in singular, not plural. He had a dropped pass. If one dropped pass makes a terrible game, then yes, he had a terrible game.He wasn't on the field as much as I would have thought with Marshall suspended, but Denver didn't use any of its TEs much in week 1. Shanahan's pretty well known for throwing out crazy offensive gameplans, so it's going to happen a couple of times a year where Shanny will just decide that his TEs aren't going to be very involved... but Scheffler will always be part of the offense.
