Was about to mention Manning. The thing I like about him, along with the tackles, is the sack opportunities.Daniel Manning and Zachary Bowman have been solid for the Bears, Bowman has only started the last 2 games but has done well.
For the high praise heaped on Marshall prior to this season, he's been fairly pathetic IMHO.marshall had 7 solos last time i checked tonight. i'll take that, but he's been disappointing overall, though he has improvd each week.i need a replacement for him and will probably go with bryan scott for the bye week.
I like Scott, too. But watch out for his injury:i need a replacement for him and will probably go with bryan scott for the bye week.
agreed, but IIRC he has been hurt and this was his first healthy week. Should see more weeks like this going forward.
In retrospect - I think this may have been a big mistake - assuming increased tackle numbers from Marshall based on past performance. He is playing a different role now - when he was the nickle corner, he was presumably the target of choice of the opposing team when he was in the game - thus getting a lot of tackle opportunities both from the targets, and also, I am going to assume he was covering the slot receiver - which left him closer to the line of scrimmage for any running plays. As a primary corner, he is seeing fewer tackle opportunities than he did as a nickle, and I suspect the Panthers are seeing fewer pass plays - he is also probably playing further away from the line of scrimmage - limiting his support in the run defense. Thus more plays on the field, but fewer plays around the ball.I advocated Harper, Winfield, and Marshall previously. Only Harper's produced as I've liked (18-5), though Winfield's only a little behind at 16-2. I'm disappointed in Marshall so far, as his history suggests much higher tackle numbers.
Right now, I'm thinking Harper, Weddle, Bethea, Branch, and Bell are the ones I'd rank the highest.
Chris Hope looks solid, as does Mikell.
Good post. I've had Marshall in a few leagues the last couple of years, waiting for it all to come together, and have recently wondered the same thing.Sinn Fein said:In retrospect - I think this may have been a big mistake - assuming increased tackle numbers from Marshall based on past performance. I don't know if the data supports this, but it would be interesting to be able to track real tackle opportunities. But, I do think, now, that it was a mistake to try to extrapolate his numbers based on limited playing time.
I think he is a top 5 DB. I watched the Packers-Rams game and the Packers did everything in their power to avoid him. They purposely directed the offense away from him. That may explain his slow week.Is Atogwe looking OK? I haven't seen any of the games. He put up a dud Week 3.
