Top 5 Marvin Harrisons (1 Viewer)

Sequel to the top 5 Shaun Alexander's. Remember, it's not as important to make a list as it is for you to tell us when and why players become Marvin Harrison.

As a Colts fan am I making this claim about Harrison too soon? If so, then it's egg on my face, and that's Ok.

With WRs you have to allow more age obviously. It's not like owners are looking to chuck them after 30.

We have to come up with different factors for WRs than we do for RBs. Here are mine.

1) Lack of separation (don't confuse this with lack of speed), which I attribute to lack of reflex

2) Injury history

3) New blood

4) Lack of speed

5) Lost that love of the game

1) Javon Walker - Where do we start. Lost of love for the game for any number of reasons. Plus the knee injury has left him no where near the player he was.

2) Amani Toomer - Obvious

3) Torry Holt - 32 with knee issues and maybe being phased out. I could be totally wrong about him.

4) Derrick Mason - Being 53 years old and productive has to come to an end soon.

5) Hines Ward - Sorry, but I hate him and wish he was 53 yrs old

6) Plaxico Burress - See Hines Ward

Sorry I didn't offer a lot of constructive thoughts on my top 5 WRs. I hope you will.

Javon Walker should be #1.

Moss should be an honorable mention considering he has already done it once and come back from it. If Brady is never right again, he could easily balk again.

Housh, based on situation. Is he retained? He's already on the wrong side of 30, and may be going to a different team that expects him to be a #1. How can you still love the game after being in Cincy for so long?

Housh, whenever he leaves Cincy we will see what he really is, and it isn't much. I'd equate him to Darrell Jackson two years ago without as much injury concern.

5) Harrison himself - He'll pick up again late season and get hopes up.

6) T.O. - Seems like he's aging too much mentaly. He'll last another couple years physically, but can he stand to miss the playoffs?

Hines Ward - Sorry, but I hate him and wish he was 53 yrs old

Plaxico Burress - See Hines Ward

7) Housh - see above

8) Driver - plenty of talent behind him w/ Jennings, Jones & Nelson. A young team may want to offload older, higher-paid players.

9) Moss, Randy - His physical abilities ARE starting to slip, and the Raiders' fans knew what they were talking about. Brady can keep him alive for another year, but by 2010, he's done. He's not the kind of WR that can compensate for a decline in ability.

Housh, whenever he leaves Cincy we will see what he really is, and it isn't much. I'd equate him to Darrell Jackson two years ago without as much injury concern.
DJAX always had hands issues. Housh is closer to Ward or Muhammad than DJAX. He will always be a reliable WR, but definitely is at risk of losing his elite status with pretty much any roster change in Cincy.

I agree that Driver belongs on the list.

Except that Ward & Muhammed have been beating #1 CBs with their crafty/wiley/skills. Housh has been beating #2's his whole career.

I meant the DJax comparison as more situation based than anything, I don't think either are particularly good WR's but fit well into their team's scheme when they are (were) fantasy relevant. DJax got the boot from Seattle and proved to suck, I think Housh suffers the same fate.I think Driver's going to be the next Derrick Mason, consistently under valued and productive for a long time.

It's telling that no one has mentioned Joey Galloway, who is older than all the WRs mentioned in this thread.

I don't watch alot of these guys much so I'm just tossing some names out there, but:

LColes

CJohnson

DMason

RMoss

already there:

IBruce

JGalloway

MMuhammed

BEngram

DBranch

Plaxico Burress
He's obviously a locker room concern but I don't see any erosion of his play between the lines. I think the concern over his mental state is reflected in his current trade value (and his ADP next fall) but I don't see him falling off a cliff physically anytime soon.I just don't buy Plax on this list Hoss.

I agree on Driver. I don't think he has lost anything yet but Jennings coming on makes Driver more of a 1B.

After watching him yesterday, I doubt he shows much the rest of the season.

I'm not seeing the decline with Randy yet. He had separation all day yesterday and could have had a few long TD catches, Cassell just didn't deliver the ball.
